Oh yeah, much better. Kinda sad it didn't do better in theaters, but oh well. Never been a huge Hulk fan myself. If I could kill off one Marvel Character to try to increase sales for a few months (the Joey Q method) it would be the Hulk.

I don't read Marvel comics, so I don't care so much if they take liberties because I'm not as invested in the characters. And it's probably why I hated Superman Returns with an upper EM spectrum passion.

You know I've been thinking about it and I was never into Superman either. And I think the reason, for me at least, for that is cause he is too perfect. I mean no one can beat him. He's the strongest, he's the smartest, his life is perfect. He gets the girl and everyone loves him. It's not something I can relate too.

I got a twofer gwynn review!

Last night I watched Aliens in the Attic, it started off as a crappy family goes to the boring summer home movie starring boring pack of kids and that chick from HSM with the nosejob, then it turned into a funny and awesome alien battle with cool gizmos and a fight scene with grandma you have to see to believe. I approve.
This morning I watched Blood and Bone, starring Michael Jai White(Spawn). This one was a crappy fighter movie, guy gets out of prison and has a vendetta to settle. Jai White's character was good and the villian was good, everybody else could have been acted with ham sandwiches on poles. It kindof remind me of a Street Fighter movie as the character of Bone could easily be repurposed for such a game, he has some really brutal moves. I actually fell asleep first time watching this so I caught the rest when I woke up. Fighter was a better realer fighting movie, but Michael Jai White is awesome.

The Spawn HBO series was far more enjoyable than the Spawn movie...but that's not saying much.

Saw LotR:FotR yesterday. Well, the first half. I already know how it ends so I'm probably not going to bother with the remaining 12 hours of the whole shebang.

Wow, it's been a long time since I saw both of those that I barely remember anything. All I remember is liking the movie more than the series, but I distinctly remember thinking I had no reason to ever watch it again.

I had the HBO series on VHS and I remember that one of them felt like it lasted 8 fucking hours. I had considered getting them again on DVD but Invader Zim won that battle, the whole series for $15, yes please!

Back to Superman for a second, though, what made him fun was that, despite his superpowers, he tended to have super problems, particularly in the seventies and early eighties. Sure, there was the expected ridiculous stuff, but there was serious material that would only work with Superman as the protagonist that still hold up. Plus, Superman promotes excellence, which I always appreciated.

See that's why I always liked Spider-Man. He didn't have super problems, he had normal problems. Never had enough cash, always having girl trouble, his best friend ended up turning into the Green Goblin. Ok...that last one might be a super problem. But I can relate to that kind of stuff.

As far as I could tell, the microwave device was an AOE (area of effect) weapon, in other words it's effect is omni-directional and effects anything within a certain radius or distance from the weapon. It didn't at all seem like a weapon pointed at anything. The weapon might have had a very short range however since it only seemed to vaporize pipes very close to it.

Before that, I could sympathize with light. After what he did to her, he became an asshole. Not evil per-se, but a huge douche. The whole thing in the art museum was pretty awesome.

I guess it was the intellectual games and twists that had me liking the first movie, and you not liking it so much. That's why I probably didn't like the second movie quite as much and you liked it more. I like those shows with intellectual crap and twists, like Code Geass for example.

I was rewatching Death Note dubbed. Something to note: Brian Drummond plays Ryuk, and does a great job of it too. Light is played by that annoying guy, Brad Swaile, who has that obnoxious childish voice and plays a bunch of teen protagonists in different anime, like Arumo in Gundam, and the main character in Soul Taker. Why people allow this guy to voice act is beyond me (in any case, Light's a college student, duh!)

L is dubbed by none other than Alessandro Juliani, AKA Felix Gaeta of BSG. Found all this out while watching behind the scenes stuff.

I think the problem is that I didn't find them "intellectual", I found them overly contrived. It's like those episodes of the Outer Limits where they try so hard to surprise you that you either guess the ending or you roll your eyes in disgust. I have never seen Mac and Me, I found the alien creepy. I never cared for E.T. all that much either.

I liked Gia.

I recently watched Dark City. It has well-acted characters, a nice look, and good concept but it fell flat to me. It really bored me, even more than Batman Begins did. I wanted to like this film but the pacing just didn't do it for me. I kept falling in and out of sleep and I wasn't even that tired. When I woke up fully, I thought "oh crap, the movie's probably almost over" and only about thirty minutes went by. I see why Ebert liked it, but--to bring this back up--it felt like a giant Outer Limits episode where you can call the ending. I think it could've been edgier somehow. The ending felt tacked on and if Wikipedia is to be believed, it was.

And I saw Dragonball: Evolution. Got it out of the Red Box with a free rental cupon. Wasn't as bad as everyone was saying. Not good, but just not as bad. Kinda funny, and sad, that this movie stuck closer to it source material then Transformers did.
