The girlfriend and I went and saw Lilo and stitch. Which I actually enjoyed despite the change to the ending. Then the kid and I went and saw how to train your Dragon, which was really really good.

Superman! It was pretty damn good. Probably the closest thing I'll ever get to what I want out of a modern Superman movie. Doesn't seem to be making ALL of the money though, so no doubt they've already declared it a flop.

There was a lot to like about Superman, but the parts I didn't like I REALLY didn't like. It was largely enjoyable, but I likely won't ever see it again.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I wasn't impressed with Fantastic 4, but I've always found them to be a lame superhero team, so the movie was never going to be for me anyway.

If it manages to outperform Superman then I'll concede that I'm completely out of touch, because this an inferior film by every conceivable metric.

A couple people I know asked me if I had watched KPop Demon Hunters, and I was like, "No... should I?" I had seen the thumbnail on Netflix and just assumed it was some cash-in garbage done on the cheap. But I decided to give it a shot.

Holy crap. This movie has way more going for it than I ever would have expected from a made-for-streaming release. It's totally legit! I was smiling and laughing and even getting weepy in parts. What the heck, Netflix.

Yeah, I've heard good things about it. But it came out when I was already at my friend's house with her el cheapo ad-filled Netflix. I could just watch it on my laptop but I wanna see it on a TV so I'm waiting until I'm back home to watch it. She does have a big TV tho'... maybe I should just download it and cast it from my computer.

Saw the new Demon Slayer movie. Looks nice and all, but man... if you're at all familiar with the series you already know that the story peaks somewhere in the middle and it's just kind of a turd after that. I honestly don't know if it's that I blew through the manga as quickly as possible and can't remember everything that happened, or if it's that they actually tried to flesh more of it out in the adaptation, but some of what's here seemed really unfamiliar to me.

Anyway, as a film, structurally it's a fucking mess. The mid-fight flashbacks range from annoying to laughable, with the back third of the movie basically having the heroes victorious, but oops nope the villain isn't defeated and now here's their sob story in exhaustive detail! Like, holy shit. It must be seen to be believed, and even then you'll struggle to believe what you're seeing.

Maybe I'm just a hater.

Demon Slayer literally lost me at the first episode. I will never understand its massive popularity.

They kind of do and that sounds like something I'd say but I can't find any posts of me saying that. I basically called the designs in that Jem comic from 2006 toddlers and I said that chick from that Guild Receptionist anime had a bloated toddler head. I also said the designs in Demon Slayer don't sell it to me. I think there's something about the eyes. Like the characters look hopped up on something or some shit.

I looked through some Demon Slayer images and I think my issue with the eyes is that the irises fucking float in the middle for a large number of characters. That's why they look high/crazy/spastic. It's visually unpleasant to me.

Just got back from Chainsaw Man. What a wild ride. As soon as you tell me you're putting your anime on the big screen, I immediately want to hold it to a higher standard, and this one checks all the boxes. Absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. Thumbs securely in the upright position.
