Last House on the Left, the remake
The first half of the movie is all villians on the loose who kidnap a couple of chicks and do terrible things to them in the woods, the second half is all one of those chicks' parents get horrible awesome revenge on the villians. It's really the feel good movie of the year. A keeper I would say, and it's got Cromartie from the Sarah Connor Chronicles and that in itself makes it worth seeing.

I watched Waltz with Bashir. It was numbing, all the animation made it feel unreal and then at the end they make it very real. I guess that was smart in a way, because it kind of matches the narrators story. Still, puts perspective in my life, which I like occasionally. The rest of the time I prefer to be oblivious.

Its a pretty darn scary movie about dopplegangers from a mirror universe and they all have this "there can be only one" attitude.
I don't understand this, if I had a doppleganger I wouldn't wanna kill her, I think we would get along awesomely.

I finally saw Batman Begins. I had seen 30 min. on television and was not impressed, but Merla had it in her queue so I gave it another shot. I don't know how the hell anyone can like this fucking movie. It's sooo freakin' slow, it jumped everywhere, it tells us all kinds of things no one ever needed to know or should care to know about Bruce Wayne. Right down to the fuckin' fabric for his costume? Fuckin' serious? R'as al Ghul was a stupid-ass villain. That wasn't R'as al Ghul, that was Liam Neeson with a Dirty Sanchez. Batman was an asshat, ready to kill innocent civilians to save one stupid woman who hasn't learned by now to bring a cop along with her and not go into asylum basements alone or by herself in the dark of night. BM wasn't even a real playboy like Iron Man, he was a pathetic wannabe who acted like a tough little stuck-up turd and then tucked his tail in between his legs like a pussy the minute Dawes scrunched her dumb pug nose at him. I bought Katie Holmes channeling Sarah Michelle Gellar as a d.a. the same way I bought Denise Richards as a nuclear fucking scientist. The movie's way too long. It could've easily have been pared down to a 90 minute movie and probably would have been much better for it. Alfred, Gordon, Fox, and the guy trying to oust Bruce Wayne were excellent. The tech was sweet, the setting and the Batman costume were all good. Bale kinda sucked and I had issues with his performance in the Dark Knight as well, but I think it was more the fault of the script and direction rather than on him. Some of the action was just ridiculous, specifically referring to the stuff involving vehicles. I thought there was a nice balance in the Dark Knight, but it was just bordering on Bayism here. I could not suspend disbelief for one second that they wouldn't be able to track him to that cave especially with a fucking road leading to the entrance. And then that scene with that crook tied to the light that was the precusor to the bat signal. They're all looking in the sky and all "what is that"? And I was all "wtf do you mean 'what is that', it's a fucking man tied to a fucking light. these aren't clouds on a summer day, you don't go looking for fucking shapes in them.'"

Yea I know they were trying to go for a more real Batman, but there's only so much real you can put into a super hero movie before it's just some guy in a garbage bag peeking out from around the corner, laughing maniacally then running away. Batman Begins was my favorite superhero movie until Ironman, and then until Dark Knight. I don't take offense to you hating it, but you hated it before you even saw it, carried over that hate and then found insane ways to justify it.
The most unbelievable thing I thought was in the movie was the water vaporizer, since if it actually worked it would have turned all the people in Gotham into dried up raisin corpses.

No, I'm saying it became silly at points. I had no problems with the water vaporizer, with the magical cure, or even with the actual tech itself. Not even with Batman's physical abilities. Batman barreling through car after car in that bulky-ass Battank to save one person at the cost of innocent cops and many other lives was too ridiculous to me. Rachel Dawes being face-to-face with Batman with full close-up view of his eyes and lower face and not recognizing him was another moment of dumb.

I doubt I would be allowed to hate this movie at all without someone claiming bias on me and that's fine. Frankly, I'm certain there's nothing I can do to convince you otherwise short of liking this movie and I clearly didn't.

The Scarecrow was a weak-sauce villain with literally two seconds of cool in the entire flick. Liam Neeson dropped the ball here, he phoned that performance in. I don't know why that qualifies me as insane and doing ass-pulls just so I fulfill my agenda of making Bruce Wayne cry himself to sleep.

Iron Man had great pacing. Ironman explained tech when it was relevant to a plot point. Iron Man blew all sorts of shit up without making me roll my eyes.

The Dark Knight had a compelling Joker and Harvey Dent, both who made the story flow alongside Batman even when Batman was not on the screen. Cillain Murphy and Liam Neeson could not do this imo.

The second Hulk was better.

But I think it was plainly stated early on that Batman Begins took the tack of the original Golden Age appearances and that of Miller's Year One. So the property damage and apparent indifference to infliciting injury is easily understandable. It's not Nolan or anyone else's fault you seem to have been expecting Adam West.

Although Neeson was pretty cool in this movie I have to admit he made a somewhat sorry Ras Al Ghoul. I was expecting this narrow faced, pointy bearded turkish dude in a cape. Liam didn't put out this "I'm immortal and have lived for thousands of years" vibe, although I think the idea in the movie was that Ras Al Ghoul isn't actually immortal, it's that someone takes the title of Ras, and when that person dies, someone else takes the title of Ras. The title of Ras Al Ghoul lives on, not the person. Kinda like the Dread Pirate Roberts or something.

But yea, for some guy supposedly being immortal he doesn't exactly pull it off well. But a microwave weapon? Is that the best you can do? Your organization is everywhere, controls everything, and the best you can do is a giant microwave oven?

The physics of such a weapon is so laughable as to be stupid. Gwenn is right. A microwave powerful enough to vaporize water from that distance would either give people a shitload of cancer, cause their body fluid to boil, cause their heads to explode, or possibly cause them to shrivel. Liam AND Batman standing that close to the machine would be dead pretty damn quickly.

That's always been my beef with that movie.

And last movies I've seen was Cutey Honey Live Action and Death Note live action.

Cutey Honey was kinda fun, but campy in a Power Rangers way. The special effects were atrocious. You would think that in a country more technically advanced than the US that they'd be able to make special effects to rival Hollywood, but apparently they don't have the money to put into big budget films like we do.

Death Note, on the other had, was marvelous. The CG Ruyk looked realistic enough to be believable. The story was great, the plot twists awesome. They did an excellent job of condensing a long, drawn out, boring, milked-to-death TV show into a more enjoyable 2 hours for people with short attention spans or not a lot of time.

The whole water vaporizer thing didn't bother me. One, it's a comic movie, there's gonna be cockamamie macguffins in there as a matter of course. Second, IIRC the thing didn't vaporize people because it wasn't being aimed at them.

The crappy masks concealing the identities of comic book heroes is an age old tradition. Shit, superman just uses glasses. This isn't a problem with the movie itself, and I doubt anyone is supposed to take such serious scrutiny to it. Might as well open up your window and yell out "SANTA ISN'T REAL!"

Plus he's a pretty new batman in that movie. He might not be so utilitarian. He became batman because he lost people close to him, he wasn't about to lose his childhood friend. I'd run over plenty of random people to stop that from happening and I don't even have a tank.

How the heck do come to that conclusion? Adam West had a shark jump out in front of him and Robin and save them from a missile. Why would I expect Adam West?

And no matter what direction Nolan was going in, it doesn't save it from being a boring film. It doesn't excuse Liam Neeson from being lousy or the Scarecrow from being an uncool waste or Katie Holmes from being an irritating insect. Proper editing could've saved this movie. Instead we have a lot of fluff that wasn't relevant at all. We didn't need to sit in on Chill's sentencing, we didn't need to see Bruce bonding with daddy (or see them in the play for that matter). This movie felt pretentious-- everything's important so everything has to be shown or explained. No, it didn't.

The ending of the first movie kinda fell apart for me. It seemed incredible that he planned this to do that and that to do this. It seemed ridiculously overthought so I wasn't too impressed with it. The anime seemed to have more restraint in that arena. The second movie ended great though.

And finally, the last thing I saw: Princess Protection Program with Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. The ending didn't make sense, but as movie for Disney Channel watching tweens, it does what it's supposed to do.
