Ha ha, yeah. It was the same basic formula, though I liked DBZ enough that it didn't get old until after they defeated Frieza (which funny enough is where we all know it was suppose to end). Though the VA thing was sufficient enough to piss me off that my interest had already begun to decline greatly. I've seen or read most of the Android/Cell arc, but I just wasn't interested enough to pay that much attention to it. And I only stuck with Buu because I wanted to see how it ended. But I've only seen the anime in those last two parts in Japanese (and I have the manga in Japanese). FUNimation was killing me and by the time Viz got up off its ass with the English version manga, I already checked out.

But yeah, formulas slay me. I guess ppl can argue that most things that last longer than one story arc begin to follow the same basic formula, but formula + dopey stock characters (easily found in most shows, especially anime) + dragged-out disease = bad.

And a lot of stuff would be improved by simply terminating it early. Yu-gi-oh should've ended after Battle City. Saber Marionette J to X should've never been made. By the time Ranma 1/2 got into the third season, it really wasn't funny anymore. Yu Yu Hakusho should've ended after the Dark Tournament with a truncated Toguro fight. I forgot how long that shit was. Merla and I decided to have a YYH mini-marathon a while back and the Toguro/Yusuke brawl was effin' killing us. All he does is grow muscles on top of muscles and get thrown into walls for like two hours. Ridiculous.

And don't get me started on hidden powet. I hate that. I want a guy to win a fight cause he of will. When they start in with that "Oh you think I'm beat, but I have a hidden powet that you didn't know about and now I will unleash it and kick your ass! HA HA HA HA!" makes me groan everytime.

The Toguro thing was annoying for that reason. I'm exagerrating of course, but every other line of his went something like this:

"I'm only using 40% of my powet."
"Oh, now I have to use 80%."
"Truly you are formidable, I'm using a 100% of my energy."
"I must push myself to my limits, so I'm actually using 120% of my powet."
"Ah lied, I'm actually only at 76%."
"Now I'm at 100%."

BAH!

I watched DBZ all the way through, since it was new to me at the time. I think I've said something similar before, but it's like a soap opera for 9 year olds.

But if you hate the hidden powet thing, what about The Princess Bride? "I'm not really left-handed!"

Volume Three of Kyo Kara Maoh! I have to say I'm already getting bored. I think I've all but checked out. If only Gwendel wasn't so great to look at, I may have checked out earlier. And something that really disturbed me-- far, far, far beyond what the heavy homosexual overtones and the fits of crossdressing could ever accomplish-- was that a dude and a giant panda appeared to have hooked up.

FTW. And for whatever reason I just thought it was a girl panda, but Merla brought up it could be a boy. That shouldn't necessarily make it worse, but the imagery in my head doesn't lie.

And there's more volumes and a whole second series of this. I don't think I'll make it. I suppose if Merla doesn't get tired of it anytime soon and keeps them all in her queue, I'll likely end up watching them all.

Next in my queue is Gokusen, which I've already seen some of, but I don't know which episodes they were.

If someone says cheese dip I think of cheese sauce or fondue, queso has a different connotation to me.

I guess I am hiding my age powet level...which reminds me I still haven't told my girlfriend how old I am. Yes, she's my girlfriend now. I'm the first person she's ever said "I love you" to.

Her first love...perpetuated upon a falsehood. I feel like an asshole for not telling her, but she's become precious to me and I don't want to upset her.

And aren't you leaving anyway? Normally I guess I'd be all "tell teh troof fer luvvvv" but yeah, don't destroy the moment. Though I'll never understand why you have to lie about it in the first place, but that's just me and I don't ever expect to understand. I do think most younger girls would overreact at something like that, given our pedo-infested atmosphere. Though in actuality, probably no more infestered than it was in the 50's when pedos had to walk five miles in the snow with no shoes on just to touch a child.

I do know there are some. Usually have to do with it's orginal meaning...but I can't think of any of the top my head. I'll have to get back you on that one. Only one I can think of is "Loo" and the Brits use that....and I actually think it's from a French word. Hence...not Germanic.

But on a totally unreleated note. It's job...not Yob you silly short brown people!

I don't know anyone who says "yob". But I've known people who say saLmon and "breefs" (instead of "breathes"). Oh and "sayz" for "says" is common.

We went to a seafood restaurant yesterday and they spelled "dining" as "dinning". There's always humor to be found in ppl speaking English as a second language.

Poor Merla. She got her envelope containing Vol 4. of Kyo Kara Maoh! today and it turned out to be volume 5. And then she teased me about liking Gwendel.

I've heard some that say Yob around here. I always thought that J had a H sound in Spanish..so wouldn't it be "Hob" not "Yob"? I don't know where they from, but the guys where as tall as you and the women where shorter then that. And "Yob" is one of 12 english words they know along with "Cash" and "May I take your order."

Course that isn't limited to Hispanics. I was at a Chinesse restraunt and the waitress that seated us took our drink orders, but another one came up and tried to get us drinks and so I'm trying to explain to her that the other waitress already took them. From the deer in headlights look she gave me I figured out that the only english she knew was "What drink?" and it's answers. So I just said "No Drink." and that worked.

We can't demand a whole free month for one mistake. That's unreasonable. Anyway, I called them and spoke with a nice employee that said they will be sending the correct disc to us on Monday (without us having to send anything else back to get it).

I hear it converted into an 'h' as well. I guess wherever they're from, it's different.
