I feel like my time to play those games has long since passed. Also, I have never forgiven EA for killing Sims Social on Facebook. That shit was my jam. I had multiple homes all cutely decorated. How dare they. It's nearly been 13 years since they axed that game. Never forgive. >:(

For as famous as Fornite is, I've never played it and actually don't know exactly what kind of game it is. Just that you can get a Kim K skin with a big ass.

I'm tempted to get a Switch 2 for the new Fire Emblem but, meh, will I really have time to play it if I did? Probably not.

When did FE become such a repository for anime wives? I feel like it's been that longer than it hasn't.

I liked it when it was on GBA. Gorgeous vintage sprites for me.

Speaking of turn-based tactical games, I just finished Zero Company and it's easily the best thing I've played this year, unless I'm forgetting something. Best St*r WarzzZZ thing I've engaged with in years, that's for damn sure.

With Fire Emblem: Awakening. Then when Heroes came along and Nintendo was making huge mint from fans desperate to gacha-farm their waifus and husbandos in swimsuits and shit, there was no coming back.

I actually haven't played anything other than the three GBA games. I almost bought a Switch to play Three Houses but then the pandemic made that impossible. I'm kind of glad I didn't. Three Houses can be fun to watch but it looks tedious to play. Then there's Engage, which also looks fun to play but forces you to sit through its weird load times and cringe story with cutscenes so long it puts people's Switches to sleep. I think if I ever play that, it'll have to be on an emulator. Engage has some super-nice mods for it.

This is my problem with modern FE. All the menus and upkeep on loadouts and what have you, I'd just rather not.

I always forget I have that FE x SMT game that came out on Wii U. I barely got anywhere in that, but I feel like I'd be more likely to go back and try that again than ever touch another straight FE title.

Mods fix Engage but I'm not sure about Three Houses. I understood that gameplay balances for the monastery (where the busy work is) and I'm sure how much the no-monastery mod addresses this.

Unfortunately, the Fortune's Weave Treehouse yesterday had about 90 minutes of gameplay and about two thirds of it was busy work. ::) Good grief. And there will be no mods for Fortune's Weave anytime soon: the exploits that allowed for modding in the Switch have been addressed on the Switch 2 and Nintendo also cracked down on the emulation community.

It's just, come on, no one wants Chores: the Game. Get with it, Ninny-tendo.

I see some outlets are saying that new Wolverine game is dog doo. Can't say I'm surprised. I'm more excited for Control Resonant and Silent Hill Townfall anyway.

A bunch of negative Wolverine reviews hit my feed but I didn't care to even watch them. I saw the Metroid trailer or whatever in the Nintendo direct and Samus was talking way too much.

Hehe. I remember that bothering people in Other M as well, but I didn't mind it. I wonder if her monologuing like that is just flavor for the trailer, or if she'll actually have a lot to say throughout the story of the game.

I just had a nightmare vision of Samus exhibiting modern game design brainrot, when every time she gains a new ability she loudly proclaims something like, "Hmm... wasn't there a blocked path this new beam could clear back in that one jungle area? Hmm... perhaps I should check. 7 screens up and 3 to the left, if I recall correctly. Yes, I do believe so. Hmm..."

God.

It honestly sounds like something modern gaming would do. Heaven forbid people be allowed to figure anything out for themselves in any media these days.

Some people have Fortune's Weave early so I got to see some gameplay. If you can call it that. Holy carps, there were barely any maps in the three hours of footage I saw and the ones there were horseshit. Like walking simulator grade. Ew.

And so much of this story needed to be on the cutting room floor. Look, I like a good story as much as anyone but this is Fire Emblem, not a vn. Cut scene then talking then more talking. Then walk to the thing and get a cut scene. Then jump ahead a bit to another setting with talking, talking, cut scene and then talking. THEN we get a map?

Are you fuckin' with me, Ninny-tendo? What is this? The story is supposed to bookend the maps, the maps aren't a feature in your visual novel. Don't worry, no one's Switch 2 will fall asleep since the game requires the bare minimum interaction of pushing a button here and there.

Clearly, they wanted to tell waaaay more story than they had room for. There are four lord characters but they actually wanted eight. Honestly, they should've cut it down to two lords or at most three.

I still plan to watch other people play this but I'm glad I didn't plunk down money for it.
