I own that movie. It is based on the case of Travis Walton, that took place back in the 70's I believe. One of the more famous cases.

Polygraphs tests are not admissable in court for a reason, they're unreliable. This was the only "evidence" presented in the movie. The rest was nonsense. From how it was presented it sounds like the UFO could have been something as mundane as the moon.

That's always how I thought about it. If Aliens were showing up and taking people. I doubt they doing it to impart some cosmic wisdom. Nope, we are more likely just the wild animal in the reserve that needs to be tagged and bagged. Take some blood, get some eggs or semen and then dump you back off someplace wondering what the fuck just happened. Just like we do to animals.

The Hobbit

I have very, very few complaints about this movie, and neither of them are "It was too long" or "It was boring." I could have sat through another 3 hours of this no problem. The things I didn't like were a little bit of editing. And a little too much CGI. I think that they could have used make up effects for a lot of the Orcs and goblins that they did with a computer. Just do that more like the first Lord of the Rings. The rest I loved. In fact this is one of those few movies that I really, really enjoyed. I hope there is a extended version of those movie like there was for the LOTR movies, because I'd like to see more.

Merla picked up a copy on Friday so I've actually been watching the Hobbit, too, but in parts and out of order. Like a Tolkein Memento. Sometimes it felt too stretched out or contrived. Like when that whitey orc wants to finish off Thorin, but then has one of his duders do it instead. Like, I thought you wanted to kill him. And did the hobbit get taller? And dwarves get taller and some of them hotter? There's hot dwarves? Disappointed we didn't get the see the entire dragon yet. I guess they want a big reveal or whatever. I thought it was funny that all this money went into this movie and shit but a bunch of the dwarves looked like they had their makeup done discount. Like the hair and prosthetics looked really, really cheap. None of Gimli's crap looked cheap but it's like someone was all "shit, we've got thirteen of these fuckers now. time to go to Costco for the hair." And I recall the dwarves having different color hoods, caps, belt or boots and whatever. So why are they all drab-looking?

I'm not trying to create any animosity here, but the more I reflect on The Hobbit, the less I like it. I'm still looking forward to seeing Smaug, but I'll have no trouble waiting.

And when something is Francotastic, that means James Franco's performance is mostly hilarious (intentionally or otherwise) and enjoyable, but the rest of the movie is relatively lackluster.

That's Oz in a nutshell. Go for the Franco, just don't expect much else.

I'm actually liking the Hobbit the more I watch it. When I saw the last third or so (the first part of it I watched), I was annoyed that scenes appeared to drag out. (Just jump over Gollum already!) But now I can appreciate the other bits.

Let's see I saw:

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns part 1 and 2
Justice League: Doom
Superman vs. The Elite

Out of those I liked Doom the best. A lot of people were going on about how great The Dark Knight Returns is, and it is good...but I mean I was never crazy about the comic like everyone else was so maybe that has something to do with it. Eh...not really a DC guy anyway so whateves.

I really liked Doom though. I should really read Tower of Babel that it was based on because I think I'd like it too. The idea that Batman figured out how to take out each of his team mates was pretty awesome and something Batman would totally do. And the fact that the others were so surprised he did it at the end means they don't really know Batman.

Superman vs. the Elite. Whole lot of meh. Don't know why they picked this one to adapt into a film. That would be like making a Spider-Man animated move and picking the Clone Arc to adapt. Why would you do that when there as many better stories out there that could be done? Oh well...I didn't pay to see, so what do I care.

Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters vs. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: The Movie

Eh...getting a little tired of the whole "Well you think we are bad, but we were actually good all along" thing. They already did that with the Gokaigers in Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen, and it was done better there. Oh well...anything to see the Luka again. Although you hardly see her in this flick.

I just saw a Liar's Autobiography.
The untrue story of Graham Chapman. It was pretty good. But I'm ashamed to say I never heard of this movie until I recently stumbled upon a youtube vid on the Monty Python channel.

Fuck Eric Idlle though for being the only one not to be a part of this. Whatever happened between him and the rest of the Pythons? And didn't he just make a shitload of cash with the Spamalot musical? So he obviously hasn't forgotten his Python roots.

In do wonder though where they got all the Chapman audio material. Maybe I should have googled this shit before posting on it.

P.S. Since my gf pre-ordered the bluray I should finally see the Hobbit pretty soon, so I'll be back on your page

I saw some thing called "Vamps" with Alicia Silverstone trying to relive Clueless as an old vampire. It didn't work for me. The whole thing about stem vampires made me roll my eyes from the getgo and it lost me at her vampire friend getting pregnant by the guy from Downton Abbey. Yuck. Pregnant vampires. It had some funny parts and some potential but, no, then it lost me at pregnant vampire.

Oh, and I also saw The Muppets finally. Parts of it bored me but otherwise it was okay. I chuckled a few times. But I wouldn't see it again though. The Muppets share too much screen time with humans a.k.a. Transformers Syndrome. Celebs need to get their cameos, BE FUNNY, and then they get the fuck off the screen. I'm not watching a movie called "The Muppets" to see some boner and his piece of ass eat up screen time just because the new Muppet is inexplicably his brother. No one gives a shit about Jack Black. His part should've been done by Jane Lynch. She would've been hella funnier. I don't know why they had Selena Gomez and Whoopi do a walk-on with some tubby kid just so he could do a throw-away Ninja Turtle "joke". Does Kermit look like a fuckin' turtle to you? Really? Are you retarded? Ugh. Rashida Jones and Prada woman had good cameos. And the tour guy dude. But a lot of the other humans... a song number with almost nothing but humans? UGH.
