I saw several movies in "Nothing of Value Was Lost" style. This where I watch the first several minutes, anywhere from 10 to 22, and then forward to the equivilent at the end of the movie and see if anything of value was lost.
Half Light - Has Demi Moore not looking totally wrecked, which is a good thing. Was predictable. Her husband is a struggling novelist and she's a successful one. And her best friend is sooooo helpful. You know where this went. They made her think she was crazy using a story about some dead guy and the ghost comes and helps her out. I was able to gleam everything I needed to from the story w/ approx 40 minutes of viewing. Not terrible.
Irresistible - w/ Susan Sarandon. Apparently, it's another drive-the-successful-wife-crazy plot. I can surely pick 'em. Except here Susan Sarandon plays a children's illustrator and the woman terrorizing Susan Sarandon turns out to be her long-lost daughter given up for adoption. At the end, we find out she's actually not. Susan Sarandon was her best friend's mom and the friend died in a fire but had always promised to share everything she had. So crazy lady decided her dead friend can also share her mother and proceeds to continue being crazy. Meh. Less 'not terrible' than Half Light. Luckily, I spent significantly less time with this one.
Rapt - French movie. Rich businessman gets kidnapped. Here, I actually did miss something from my abbreviated viewing. But I also didn't care enough to go back and see what it was.
Werewolf: The Beast Among Us - I wish this had been a better film because I wanted to like it more. The things like the doctor training the werewolf, the love interest, the creepy Robert Downey Jr.-esque vampire with the knives that was part of the hunting party... that shit was kinda cool. But this dragged somewhat and several of the main characters made me roll my eyes--the werewolf, the main hunter, the chick with the chest armored tailored for her tatas, werewolf's chesty-mcbusty mother. No... they dragged a lot of this down.
I also saw a film called Amanda the other day that was just plain insulting. This dumb guy's new bride comes out as a transwoman after the wedding so the entire thing goes into a spiel about acceptance and "love has no gender" blah blah (they repeat that to death) and dumb guy's like "nooOOOOoo" and is all miserable and shit so dramarama ensues until he decides to return to her and just accept the truth. But it turns out she's not a transsexual. She was testing him so they could collect on a trust from her uber-rich daddy because her mom and dad made a bet. And so the girl's mother's all "she's really a girl" and he's all "i love dis person! love has no gen---what? She's a woman! SCORE," wipes his brow, and they celebrate at their $200M McMansion. It is heavily implied the chick did all of this just to get to the money. BLEH.
