It's been two months since I saw it but I forgot to do a formal review of The Dawn Treader. So this is it.
It kinda sucked.
My biggest problem was the mist. In the original book the purpose of the journey was to find the 7 old wise men or whatever. Sounds like a perfectly fine plot, BUT NOT FOR HOLLYWOOD. Leave it to the greedy jews? executives to screw up something else. (why do they say Hollywood is run by Jews anyway? I think Mel would say otherwise).
So to add a more "exciting" plot they threw in this "evil green/black mist" that's menacing the seas and kidnapping people. A mist. A god damn fucking mist. As if a mist is really menacing. Oh no, it's a mist, where's a brisk breeze when you need it? So they have to find the 7 old men because they have 7 swords that can fight the mist.
And then when they finally come to the location of the mist, the "Dark Island" that in the book was just an area of pure darkness, it's a giant island of rock and smoke. And then they're fighting the serpent inside the island (which happened in a different part of the book) and Lucy calls for Aslan to help, he sends a dove. Now, in the Book, when they're in the darkness, the dove leads the boat out of the darkness into safety. In the movie, the dove does jack shit. Absolutely fucking nothing. Yea, send a dove to fight a giant sea serpent, good idea. "Aslan help us!" "here's a dove, lol" "WTF, we're being killed by a sea serpent and you send a fucking dove? What the fuck is your problem? An army of killer mermaids would help us a lot more than this shit. I mean, you're fucking Jesus Lion. Why don't you just kill the serpent with one swipe of your claw or something?" "Sorry, lol. Too busy to send help lol."
They made too many changes to make me happy, so I suspect the rest of the movies will probably be trainwrecks as well.
