I didn't even realize there was a new Green Latern movie.  Wonder Woman's sitting in my queue.

I'm kinda annoyed that Deadpool is going to be the live action Green Latern.  Can people stick to one superhero or whatever?  It's distracting.  Iron Man as Sherlock Holmes?  Forget all the other problems I have with that movie, but can we not have fucking Iron Man as Sherlock Holmes?  He's not British and it's just weird.  Apparently Russell Crowe was supposed to be Watson.  They should've fought for him.  Watson should at least appear to be older than Holmes and Russell Crowe, well, looks old.  It's the dynamic.  Jude Law, meanwhile, looks like Holmes' little brother tagged along.

What a Bay-tastic trainwreck:  http://www.beyondhollywood.com/new-g-i-joe-rise-of-cobra-clip-proves-snake-eyes-cg-badassness/

Oh course, tons of people will love this and it'll make Transformers-sized wads of cash.  Meanwhile, I die a little inside.

At least Bay used some practical effects and the humans weren't flying around like animated trapeze artists made of jello.
I am even iffy about wasting time to download this movie but then I did watch Dragonball Evolution so never underestimate the powet of my boredom.
Best thing that came out of that is the teaser for the new Peter Jackson film District 9, that I may want to see.

Oh, I watched it.
And honestly, it's not the worst thing ever. Not by a long shot.
But it is fucking bad.

Dragonball's score on Metacritic is 45. Wolverine's is 43. Revenge of the Fallen's is 35.

Where on that scale will G.I. Joe end up?

You should give them a chance to pull it off before passing judgment.

I'm not referring to any particular property.

I mean the concept of actors playing more than one role in their lifetime.  Cause it happens ya know.

1. No, actually I don't have to.
2. I didn't even pass any "judgment" on anybody.  I know RDJr. is a damn good actor and JL and RR aren't exactly commonly panned (even though I don't care for either).  I just said I found it distracting and weird.  Come on, it's weird.  Forget whether he can do it or not, it's weird.  RDJr. as Sherlock Holmes?  If anyone in the world could be your choice for Sherlock Holmes, would you have really picked Ironman?

Holy shit, Wolverine and RotF really ranked WORSE than "Geeko"?  Jesus Christ.

Of course you don't "have to", you can go around calling things that you haven't seen yet weird all day.  No one can stop you.

But to call him a great actor and then pigeon hole him as iron man makes no sense.  He could be an even better Sherlock than he was Iron Man for all we know at this point.

Do I think it's a weird choice to have him play sherlock?  I'll say it's an interesting choice, but him playing iron man doesn't factor into it.  If they're going with some debauched genius version of holmes (was he like that in the books?)  then I think this is a good pull as Downey delivers in that capacity pretty well.

I'd pick Micheal Cane from 30 years ago. In fact I'm not sure he hasn't played Sherlock Holmes. Sadly since I grew up with TNG everytime I think of Holmes I think of Brent Spiner.

I'd rather see Jude Law as a modern Sherlock Holmes if for no other reason than he was in one of the Grenada Sherlock Holmes shows as a young actor.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Jude Law would make a good modern Holmes, but they were clearly going for RDJr.-style grit.  I can't help but think there was at least one retarded exec going all "Holmes uses drugs, so does RDJr.!"

There was only one true Sherlock Holmes, and his name was Jeremy Brett.

But Ryan Reynolds is another story.  I have to agree with you on that because they're both comic book super heros and while one is DC and one is marvel no one is going to make that distinction.  I'm guessing DC thinks that deadpool just isn't that big of a deal to the point that they can overwrite the affiliation with that of GL.

Basil Rathbone played Sherlock Holmes in the old 1940's Black and White Sherlock Holmes series. Jeremy Brett played Holmes in some  late 80's to Early 90's Sherlock Holmes films, entitled "The Memoirs/casebook/adventures of Sherlock Holmes."

And I knew this because I have some Rathbone Holmes DVD's. Seriously. Still looking for Jeremy Brett Holmes DVDs.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Actually, it was a TV series of over forty episodes, rather than a series of films.  The Grenada series is available on Netflix and in a remastered DVD set (which has seen a dramatic markdown of which I may take advantage).

Sadly I know Mr. Basil not for his great early work in things like the Sherlock Holmes movies (was never a fan of holmes myself) but rather his later 60s stuff when he was hard up for money before his death. Movies like "Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet" and "The Magic Sword"

That and as the Narrator of the Wind and the Willows section of the "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad." Course I usually watch this movie at Halloween for the Headless Horseman section.

Maybe they'll luck out and most of the people who go see these movies will have no idea who GL and/or Deadpool are, therefore it won't be an issue.  There's people out there who can't name all four turtles and don't know who Gandalf is.  Or who wear T-shirts of comic characters and when I bring up the character's name, they're all "who".  I don't know how many times I've pointed out the black guy in Iron Man is War Machine and get a blank stare.  I don't think these sorts of people will care enough for it to matter.

Since I bring up War Machine.  Don Cheadle... Boo.  Who's dog did Terrance Howard run over that he lost that part?  I was looking forward to seeing him as War Machine.  Chips and crackers.   :(

Yeah, but even the average gump whose never even heard of dead pool and only vaguely remembers green lantern from super friends is going to see that Ryan Reynolds is both of them.

Especially if they drop within a year of each other.

Which is why it only makes sense to cast me as either one instead.

He basically raped Jon Favereu (sp?) throughout production and acted a bitch. He got dropped because he sucked and only good editing made him a viable part of the movie. Why did they have that Agent save Pepper when they knew a SOLDIER!? Because Terry didn't get blue M&Ms.
