Ok...after reading that I'm glad I didn't see this movie. It sounds like a total cluster fuck. Good thing they didn't use that old Cartoon or comic story cause those would have been too silly.

Well I don't have any Season 3 on DVD, but I'm pretty sure the Matrix of Leadership was never the key to a doomsday weapon and Megatron never worked for a guy called the Fallen.

But I'm sure someone is going to tell me that G.I.Joe: Rise of Cobra is just like the toon too, because I like the toon, but think that movie is going to worse then this one.

How many doomsday scenarios were there in the original show? The only notable ones I can think about was from The Ultimate Doom, Vector Sigma's key, a hate plague, and an overloading plasma energy chamber, and all of which involved different plot dynamics.

Not to mention that I have no recollection of Decepticles or pot brownies making any appearances.

Nothing against cartoons because you people know I love them, but a fucking toon should be the easiest thing to adapt. Especially shit with a preset fucking formula like G.I.Joe and Transformers. Why raging hormones, idiotic attempts at humor, stupid relationship, and overly complicated plots suddenly take center stage in this shit is beyond me. In fact, they should just steal directly from the cartoon. Take a couple of loosely related or similar episodes and throw them together into a movie. It's been twenty years. Not enough people will remember for it to matter.

Sienna Miller looks awkward and stupid. Especially with the damn sunglasses!

I don't get the casting either, but I have seen better shots with the glasses and her hair straight and dark brunette instead of poofy brown. Maybe this was a wardrobe fitting.

For G.I. Joe to work, you really need to camp it up. I don't like G.I. Joe because it features a bunch of identically clad super-soldiers, I like it because it's an elite military force ðat's apparently composed of people ðat wore whatever ðe fuck ðey wanted to work ðat day.

edit: And if "doomsday device" is too limiting, change it to "device to extract a bunch of energy and fuck over ðe humans"

I loved the hell out of ðat book, but it's not a tight, concise story. It's a history book. You could MAYBE get away wiþ doing ðe story of Turin or of Beren and Luthien, but even ðose require tons of backstory to make any sense.

Let me add that I loved the Silmarillion as well as several of its ancillary books. But I can see no way of filming that outside of some sort of television series or something that would be equally disappointing. Plus, I'm afraid that making it where non-Ringers would give a crap about any of it would be an insurmountable task, and doing so might make it unwatchable for those of us who would care about it.
