The thing I hate most about Gundam is that it's nothing but a whole lot of depressing, preachy bullshit. "Boo hoo! War is hell! The human race is inherently evil! Wah wah wah!"
I'm obviously not a Gundam fan, because for me, G Gundam is the greatest thing they ever did.
And that's all I want from them. Another Gundam series that looks at all the Gundams that came before it, says, "Fuck all that shit," and does something completely different. Something fun and entertaining that forgoes all the conflicted protagonists and political claptrap.
And focus on martial arts over firearms.
Fuck it, I just want another G Gundam.
Gundam X.
I enjoyed Gundam, but I hated the UC stuff. UC was just them trying to retell Amuro vs. Char x number of ways. The first suffered from poor animation and a complete assortment of bad filler episodes. The 08th MS Team was just horrid, and nothing but a Shiro Amada lovefest. The fucker was an evident plot device, defeating x amount of pros including an Ace that wasted everyone else, then sacrificed his life for the love Shiro and the green haired chick would have? War in a pocket I enjoyed, simply for the ending. Poor Bernie.
0083 was decent, but towards the end it suffered from just phail. Zeta... Camile was a bitchy Amuro, and even Amuro did a better job. ZZ... let's not mention that. Char's Counterattack was only good for Amuro winning and finally shutting Char up (though apparently Char is the antagonist in Unicorn. Boo.) F91 was good... but nothing noteworthy. V was... the same thing as Zeta but with bigger newtype stuff.
The Alt Universe stuff was overall good. G Gundam had some wacky side-designs, but keep in mind they probably each only have 2-3 minutes of screen time before being destroyed. The series needed an American release schedule and perhaps some fight stretching ala DBZ to be more successful, especially in the US.
Gundam Wing remains a favorite of mine. It has it's ew points, but the mecha just worked and the action scenes (yeah, some repetition) were good. I gotta make my own edit of the series when I have the time and a hard drive for it like I did with the St*r WarzzZZ original trilogy. The movie was also ok. This series really needs a new addition, but Bandai won't.
Gundam X is my favorite series. It has everything I love from every other Gundam... and great character animation. Plus, it has American R&B for the closer. It's the only Gundam series I have on my laptop and I often just watch a Random episode. It's a shame they prematurely cancelled it, it deserved a good closer. Also, another line that needs more to it.
Turn A... eh, it never interested me. I know the whole story, which turned me off even further. I guess watch if you like cross dressers and the MOONLIGHT BUTTERFLY!!!
Gundam Seed... just avoid it. Mwu was badass, and then they ruined him, too.
Gundam 00 I've honestly not seen much. I wanted to watch it on scifi but I always missed it, they never replayed it, and it wasn't on demand. Now I can't find a torrent with the dub, just the sub, which I don't really like watching if there is a good dub.
Unicorn I won't be watching because the main villian is Char. Jesus fuck, Tomino. Invent someone else.
