Yeah, see, G Gundam never took itself seriously. NEVER. And it was completely awesome for that simple fact alone.

Watching Domon suit up for a fight is like watching Prince Adam turn into He-Man. It's so over-the-top and cheesy but you can't help but love every moment of it.

Back when I cared about Gundam as a whole, I tried getting in X, but the only video files I could find were shit quality, then I heard it didn't go over in Japan and as a result ended prematurely, so I just gave up on it.

The idea seemed cool though. Mostly involved people finding random mobile suits, right?

Bandai released X DVDs, so there are some great fansubs out there of X now. The series ended because the market was flooded with gundam (G, then Wing, then X), and the network wanted more of a cut from ad revenue. When Bandai said hyuck foo, the network switched day and time on the series with little announcement, somethign Bandai did not like. Once the ratings dipped, Bandai was already through with Tomino-less Gundam and ordered the last ten episodes be condensed into 5. The series did wonderful on its original night and time, though.

The main premise was that the war alluded to in EVERY OTHER Gundam series went to real, and the colonies were dropped and space was fucked over, resulting in the Earth getting wasted and Space being neutered. A surviving pilot (Amuro, baiscally) forms a pirate group to survive and to find other newtypes (psychics more or less) like himself to keep them safe. Meanwhile, an asshole Gundam-jacker happens accross a gundam control stick and steals one of the newtypes, befriends her, finds THE Gundam that has a superweapon and guess what, the control stick works. Then the jacker joins not-Amuro on a quest to find other Gundams and uncover what happened during the war and prevent the surviving Space-people from enslaving the post-apocalyptic Earth.

I'm obviously not a Gundam fan, because for me, G Gundam is the greatest thing they ever did.

And that's all I want from them. Another Gundam series that looks at all the Gundams that came before it, says, "Fuck all that shit," and does something completely different. Something fun and entertaining that forgoes all the conflicted protagonists and political claptrap.

And focus on martial arts over firearms.

Ha ha, yeah. I liked that one the best. I liked parts of Wing, but other times I'd just start tuning out and thinking of something shiny. It doesn't help that mech shows aren't really my bag.

I finished disc 6 of Saiunkoku. It had a nice little plot going, but damn, I just wish we'd move a little bit faster. Everything's gotta drag itself out. Bah, annoying.

Not really anime, but I have recently rediscovered X-men: Evolution and watching that. Also discovered Spectacular Spider-Man as well and am enjoying that.

I enjoy sweet Gwen Stacy. Overall, it's so much better than that racid Wolverine fuckfest known as Wolverine and the X-Men. They don't even put the episodes on-demand, so I can't watch them unless I happen to turn on the tv when it's on. Fuckin' A.

I don't like how prince what's his face just got all kooky in the end and his role in the story seemed lessened somehow, but other than that I loved it.

By having Wolverine at the forefront, it just makes it that much more obvious that he can't use his claws for shit. Gwar!! *sticks out claws* *then sticks claws back in and punches someone*

I just saw this thing called "Garaga". Netflix actually advertised something like "If you liked Planet of the Apes, you'll love Garaga" or some shit like that. Um, NO. The similarities end at an Earth-like planet and Ape-like aliens which, considering what happens in PotA, actually turn out to not make Garaga similar to PotA at all. The voice acting was horrible and that's in both English and Japanese. Apparently Megumi Hayashibara was in this dud, but we never switched it to Japanese when her character was on-screen. I always give her the benefit of the doubt because I've never heard her deliver a horrible performance, but she was a secondary character anyway so it's not like she would've saved this thing. I only found out she was in it after the fact as only two Japanese VAs were even credited in English.

OMG! I totally forgot to tell you guys the best part of Garaga. The protagonist Jay goes through the bad guy's secret files. They are all written in barely comprehensible Engrish and are obviously about cars or some subject like that. There are also a couple of diagrams all with English writing. Jay proceeds to read out the bad guy's nefarious plans never mind nothing he reads even remotely matches.

Oh yeah, and the bad guy takes this old general's daughter Henan (who has been a recurring character throughout this thing) as hostage because he wants a password for something to destroy Garaga (which is a planet). And the general's like "Okey-dokey, the password is Henan." Password FAIL. Even the good guy was all "And you told him!?" Because, like, now all the people are gonna die. Also security was shitty. Military FAIL.

Ending was kinda a let down and felt rushed. I know there's a second series, but they could've sped some points up and wrapped up the first series much better than this. (The second series though doesn't seem to improve on this point from what I've heard.) I wish animes didn't have some much endingitis all the time.

About to start on Mirage of Blaze after the last Saiyuki Gunlock disk. I can't think of an anime chara I've disliked recently as much as Hazel. I just want to slap him.

I enjoyed Gundam Wing for the Ocean Group dubbing. I'll always be kind of partial to them.

Fuck yes and fuck yes. Kemonozume has some funky ass animation, but it makes up for it in awesome. As for Mononoke, the animation's the main reason I like it.

And for the record, although no one will believe me, but I hate harem anime. Too much boobage, not enough plot. And too much of something that would never happen in the real world, IE a nerd being surrounded by hot chicks. I can suspend reality to a point but never THAT far.

It wasn't who they were as much as how they sounded. There were times when I had trouble believing the voices.
