I love the music for Grimm. All the music is great.

Quote
then you have the option to fight him how he appears to himself in his own mind and it's awful.

If you're talking about the Grey Prince Zote thing, that's not his mind, that's Bretta's mind. You're in her house and you use the nail on her shrine to Zote. Granted, it's because she's buying into Zote's lies about himself but still.

That actually makes sense since each time you win it affects her opinion of him. Shit, you know more about parts of the game than I do. How much have you watched someone play this?

I watched one full playthrough before the dlcs dropped and then had to hunt for dlc stuff here and there because the guy I watched didn't bother with them. So I've seen a few people tackling the other material.

I've seen some of the guys I'm following playing Bit Kid's Chasm. Another Metroidvania: not on Hollow Knight level but the playthroughs I watched pegged it as enjoyable. And it's short, too. Might be worth a try if you're looking for something post-Hollow Knight.

Yeah, that does look fun. Sadly not on Switch, which is my primary gaming platform for now. I've been looking at Axiom Verge, Iconoclasts, and Steamworld Dig 2 but none seem like they'll have the same charm.

More DLC expected for Hollow Knight late August, so that's cool.

Also have the option of the Steel Soul mode but I don't think that's for me.

I heard they were looking into a Switch version. I tried watching a stream of Axiom Verge and it didn't interest me. I saw about 80% of an Iconoclasts stream just so I could see the story through. It gets a bit dark and I wanted to know how it ended.

Axiom Verge is a game I've plinked at a bit, but haven't jumped in whole hog yet. I'm probably going to read some walkthroughs to get an idea of what the heck I'm supposed to be doing. It's definitely in the vein of OG NES Metroid which I hate due to just leaving you to wander around the world and hash it out over time. I never had the patience for that as a kid, and now I don't have the time to, either.

I heard it has an ability which lets you glitch blocks intentionally so that you can walk through them. That's about all I know about it but it's definitely a metroidvania, yeah.

I tried A Flame in the Flood and did not much care for it. I forgot it was a survival game but it was on sale so I said screw it. I should not have said screw it. There are parts of the game which are genuinely fun- like rafting -but the survival aspect, especially getting murdered by wolves or boars and dying from starvation or exposure are just not fun for me. Oh well.

Hollow Knight: Godmaster comes out tomorrow but I won't get to play until Friday as tomorrow I've got a Seafall campaign. (Legacy-style board game with boats. We don't have enough people here who play board games to talk about that stuff, I guess.)

Hollow Knight: Godmaster appeared to really just be boss-rush mode. Meh. If I find out some amazing discovery is found, maybe I'll come back. Whenever they get around to the paid DLC I'll get into it again.

Played Steamworld Dig 2. Completed everything except the post-game crazy ass challenges.

Currently playing The Messenger. It's pretty rad except that I think one of the NPCs is maybe broken because it won't give me a new clue. I also think it's money system is broken. With Hollow Knight I had reasons to seek money well into the end-game. Here, I've bought everything I can buy before even knowing what the end-game really looks like.

That said, the platforming is extremely fun. Some of it is brutally hard but there's enough checkpoints in most areas that you don't feel too punished by it.

Dragon Ball FighterZ. It was on-sale and was interesting given that it looks better than the actual show. It's a fairly one-dimensional fighting game with dull story elements, but what really drags it down is the fact that it is sooooooo sloooooooooow betweeeeeeeen baaaaaaaaaatles. Load times suck, and it makes me regret not getting a SSD for my PS4 when I was trying to decide how best to upgrade storage.

Turns out the NPC wasn't broken in The Messenger, I just managed to do a section without a key item that's supposed to make it possible.

I've 100%ed that so now I'm thinking Dead Cells will be the next metroidvania jam.

I picked up Spiderman PS4 the other day. I'm only twenty minutes into it, and the most I can say about it is that it's an Arkham Spidey game, and that it is a good thing.

But couldn't the Arkham games be described as Spider-many Batman game? He's even got spider-sense.

Either way, yeah, I've heard the same. It looks good enough that I wish I had a PS4.

I've been playing SNK Heroines. It's trash, but it did remind me that Shermie from KoF looks like an amalgamation of two of Beck's Saber Doll avatars from back in the day. Actually, I wonder which came first, because she might be exactly that. '90s fighting game characters are known for drawing inspiration from manga.

Blazed through Hollow Knight. Man, what a game. Holy shit.

I've still got some cleanup to do, missing some charms and whatnot, I'll definitely come back to it at some point.

I'm trying out Undertale since it hit Switch.

I just went on a date with a skeleton... and got rejected at the end. Wow.

I'm fairly certain you would have given up on me long before I reached the end. I can't remember the last time a game frustrated me to that degree.

I think fighting The Radiance might have pissed me off more, but it didn't take me nearly as long. Also, that ending was well worth it.

I'm mostly non-verbal while playing, but I had more than a few outbursts while traversing the White Palace.

And honestly, considering what the rest of Hollow Knight is, it seems a little dirty that they would have players overcome a series of brutal platforming sequences the like of which simply do not exist anywhere else in the game, just to see the true ending. It reminded me of all those crazy custom levels people would create in Super Mario Maker.

But it was damn satisfying to reach the end.

And having an entire set of even harder extra challenges in that same area just to get a bit of extra lore and watch a tiny cut-scene.

I'm playing Guacamelee now that it suddenly appeared on the Switch without warning. It's pretty fun but I find myself less interested in going for 100% like I did with Hollow Knight.

Also, Super Mario Party is plenty of fun. I don't think it's the best the series has ever had but it's got plenty of fun for what it is.
Also, the best parts of it aren't the central classic Mario Party. The rhythm games, the down-river boating, and the two-on-two games are much better.

Smash Bros Ultimate is looming in the fairly near future and looks to have an insane amount of content.

I couldn't even watch one of the streamers I follow play Guacamelee. Actually, he was playing the sequel. Still... It looked boring. Yeah, okay, the Mexy aspect of it doesn't exactly appeal to me... but, meh, looked boring.

Not playing this but Pathfinder Kingmaker looks fun. Watching several people's streams of that.

Guacamelee is deceptively dull. The combat especially felt like a chore to be overcome. I played through the first one, definitely not interested in going back for a second helping.

I blasted through RDR2 in like a week and a half, and it was fucking amazing. That being said, after the credits rolled I had zero desire to continue. There's plenty of stuff I could still do, but I always end up at the same conclusion with R*'s games, and that is to say, once the story is over, the world feels completely dead to me.

Now I'm chugging through Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory, and as much of a shameless recycling it is of the previous game, I'm still enjoying it.

Unlocked all the guys in Smash and was working on World of Light but I don't know if I actually care about beating it.

Finished the main story in Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and debating whether to bother with filling out the pokedex or fighting the specialized trainers.

Played through The Way Remastered. It's apparently made a bit easier in the remaster as I've looked up walkthroughs several times that have puzzles I never saw while playing. Ended up with the aliens. Don't think I care about playing through for the other ending. There were a couple of spots that were absolute bullshit in this game, though.

Also did the main story on Starlink. Heard they added sandworms but I don't think I can be assed to deal with that. Glad I didn't buy any extra bits beyond the Arwing starter set.

Looking forward to the Super Mario U re-release.

I kinda wanna play the dating sim Monster Prom but most of these students are as unlikable as they are hot.  I might just content myself with watching playthroughs but, damn, the illiteracy of some folks really slaps you in the face.  There's a character named Liam and, like, three different playthroughs had people pronouncing it "lime."  If you can't English, you really pull me out of the experience.  And these aren't ESL people either.  Jeez.  I might just have to play it because I can't find playthroughs of some of the endings. I wanna see all the endings dammit.

Monster Prom dating sim endings? Are we talking like NSFW, or...?

I went through Kingdom Hearts III last week. It was kind of short. And a little empty. This time around the 100 Acre Wood is literally one tiny little area with three mini-games that are all basically the same mini-game. You could potentially complete it in a single visit. No Kanga. No Owl. NO EEYORE. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EXCLUDE EEYORE.

Holy crap, it's a whole new game instead of just a DLC. That's cool. Can't wait to watch a playthrough. (Because I can't play this sort of game. Ho ho.)
