Was Captain America good? The first half, maybe.

And I can't help but notice how fucking goofy Cap looks standing next to everyone else in those Avengers trailers. His helmet is especially awful.

If you're going to remove Hawkeye's mask and Thor's helmet, you might as well let Cap keep his off as well. It looks like shitty cosplay.

I wasn't necessarily saying that Cap was good, just that all the poor ones make it hard to enjoy the good ones. I liked Cap, but things like Green Lantern and Daredevil and Spider-Man 3 make me not want to bother with any masked heroes ever again.

I wasn't really accusing you of bad taste, just stating my own opinion of the Captain America movie. I felt like as soon as he took an active role on the battlefield it all just went to shit.

Green Lantern sucked. Daredevil really sucked. Spider-Man 3, I've actually grown fond of with subsequent viewings. The entire sequence where the symbiote turns Peter into an emo hipster and he's strutting around the city while that jazzy rendition of the Spider-Man theme song plays is quite possibly the greatest thing in the history of cinema.

Also, this:

One of my friends swears by the director's cut of Daredevil. I have refused to watch it. I haven't even seen the released film all the way through because I could tell it was a steaming pile quite quickly. I don't think we can agree on SM3 except for the video you linked, but that's because of James Franco more than anything else. James Franco is awesome.

Spider-Man 3 should have just been Sandman's movie...with a set up of Venom for 4. We didn't need new Goblin at all in that movie. And it doesn't help that he turned into Extreme sports Green Goblin. They tried to cram too much in there, and they didn't do it well. Course I might be more upset cause Spider-Man has always been my favorite...so I take more offense when they fuck it up then I do Green Lantern or Daredevil.

I'm not arguing that 3 is in any way a good movie, just that it has some moments I really enjoy. Any scene featuring Jameson, for instance, is pure gold.

Yeah I don't know how they could cast a better J.J. then they did in those movies. That was so spot on it wasn't even funny.

I like most of the Marvel movies, but none are all that memorable. They all play it really safe, sticking to pretty much the exact same formula for every movie. It's all light hearted family fun

I'd rather they do something like DC's Dark Knight for a change.

I am now seriously creeped out. It's been so long since I saw the movie I forgot that part even existed.

all of this... where's my like button?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Beauty and the Beast.

It was on TV and I hadn't seen it in a long time. It really is the ultimate "I can change him" story.
No.  Belle is not in love with the Beast when he is horrible person.  He does change, but that's not the point.  She doesn't tough out the bad for the good.  She's there for the bad with no choice, and only falls in love with the good man he becomes.

Quote
You know what constantly looks dull?  The look on Jennifer Lawrence's face.  Seriously.  As far the promotional material or preview footage goes, this chick doesn't ever look angry, sad, motivated, or even hungry.  She's always got this weird, fish-lipped "I'm lost at teh Wal-mart" or "I hope I can blame that fart on the the dog" look on her face.
I've got something to perk her up.

As for Captain America, I put it on a short list with Superman IV, Batman and Robin and Spider-Man 3 with the worst comic movies of all time.

I thought Thor was much worse than Cap America, so I saw it as a step up for Marvel

I used to put Thor ahead of Cap, but thinking about it now, Thor was consistently mediocre, whereas I loved the first half of Cap and hated the second, so on average they're essentially equal in my eyes.

I'd say the pair of Iron Man movies trump both of them, because they were made with a particular vision in mind, and not in anticipation of The Avengers.

What did you dislike so much about the second half of Cap?

Basically, I liked the movie more in the beginning when everything was heartfelt and a little goofy, and less towards the end when everything was laser guns and explosions. It just became this hackneyed action flick with a bunch of elements hijacked from other, better films.

I saw Wrath of the Titans tonight, and get this: It was good. In fact, it was pretty damn good. Clash of the Titans sucked, but this movie couldn't have existed without it because they build on a lot of the stuff introduced in that one here. I saw the vanilla version, 3D is for chumps.

And another thing, this movie had an ending. As in, it ended. There were no overt allusions to unfinished business. I don't know how they would justify it, but I actually wouldn't mind if they made another sequel.

If someone wanted to go to a movie, and their options were John Carter, The Hunger Games, and Wrath of the Titans, I would recommend Wrath without hesitation.

I was thinking of taking in Wrath of the Titans tomorrow just because I'm hard up to go to the movies.

Wizards.  Quite enjoyable.  I hadn't seen this movie since I was a kid.  A very bizarre mix of still images, animation and rotoscoping none of which look at all like each other, but all around a decent product.

I bought both Fritz the Cat movies yesterday so we'll see how those go...

I also watch Moneyball yesterday.  Decent but too much baseball.

The Raid: Redemption. If it's playing somewhere near you, and you're a fan of martial arts and over-the-top violence, you should really consider checking it out.

The Cabin in the Woods. A neat idea well executed. I usually don't go for the derpy horror movies, but this was something else entirely.

The Cabin In The Woods was REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD! REALLY! Seriously though, I can't say I loved it but I enjoyed it a lot. Some the reviews have been calling this movie a game changer. I kinda agree because after you see this movie all horror films will kinda be ruined or atleast you'll think about them differently. I don't mean earth shatteringly different just like what if this is really something else and you'll probably just laugh to yourself for a moment.

The Hunger Games.  What an absurd concept.  I just can't get past the ridiculous premise to be able to try to enjoy this.

If the Hunger Games doesn't end with Arnie shooting Richard Dawson out tube into a billboard on a jet sled then I don't want to see it.
