From Hell

I think this is one of the better Horror movies I've seen in last decade. ( Although it is kinda more a true crime type movie then it is horror) It really is a gem that flew under most people's radar.

I'd watch Wild West 2 if it has more crazy robot things.

I watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the second time, and first in 15 years or so, last night.

Crisis averted!

I skimmed through Return of the King tonight, and I don't think it's worth watching. It was done by the same guys as The Hobbit, only it looks a lot sloppier. Also, it seems to follow the hobbits almost exclusively, with Sam getting way too much screen time.

The Sword in the Stone: Quality Disney. It's kind of weird that the entire movie is spent with Arthur and Merlin taking the form of various animals, only to have Arthur become king in the last five minutes, but it's still great. And the fight between Merlin and Mim is legendary.

Rock and Rule: Not bad. It kinda drags in places, but overall not bad at all. The super-detailed backgrounds are totally reminiscent of anime films of that era, which was probably intentional. Hell, it's even possible it may have inspired an anime or two.

Fire and Ice: Ralph Bakshi and his fabulous rotoscope machine back in action. It works a lot better here though, with the characters blending a lot better with the painted backgrounds, and the facial animations seem to be hand drawn more often than not. Pretty derivative, but surprisingly watchable. Probably the best thing I've seen from Bakshi, but it helps that Frank Frazetta was along for the ride.

Joe chell out Star Chaser: The Legend of Orin.

I think I've seen Rock and Rule and I know I've seen Fire and Ice but I don't remember either.

I like the Rankin Bass ROTK but I love LOTR so much and also that reminds me of my childhood a lot (Where there's a whip! WHHAAPIISHH! There's a way!) I might be jaded.

I just watched tropic thunder.  There was a moment where I laughed out loud which is rare.

I can't accept that this movie is written by the writer of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, one of the worst damned movies ever made.

Worst of the Harry Potter movies I can agree.

One of the worst movies EVER? No, not really.

Saw the new Harry Potter.  It was okay.  This shit ain't really a spoiler, but...

*doot doot doot* ...Voldemort's death and the whole end-bit was really anti-climatic.  It's like no one gave a shit.  I've seen the Hogwarts kids looking happier when Harry won a random game of Quidditch.

Yeah, right? They didn't care and neither did I.

When the credits rolled, I was just like, "Oh well, that's the end of that."

And wasn't a lot of that Snape flashback shit supposed to be in HP6? I could swear...

At least they got around to it. I mean, they kind of fucking had to.

Or maybe it's just been way too long and it's all jumbled up in my memory.

I actually watched it on youtube 10 minutes at a time, which was shitty, but if you have an account you can log into I think you can take all the videos and add them to a play list.

I however can't log in because I refuse to give them my phone number.

I was hoping we'd get some epic end credits, too, but they were just... normal end credits.  Black with text.  Nothing special.  Boo.

I skimmed through this thread to find out who didn't like X-Men 1st class.

Could only find Zero.

I thought it was a great movie.

Even if you don't think it's great you would have to say it's good.

To say "it blew" is just insane.  If that is your mark of shit then you probably enjoy very few films.

There is an experience to watching movies in theatres that is very expensive to emulate in the home. It's just not possible.

That said, I tend to go to matinees, or at least go to Studio Movie Grill, which has real food and movie tickets about $2 cheaper than everywhere else.

Yeah but you didn't think X men sucked either so it's sort of a safe bet for you to spend money at theaters.

I just saw Rambo 4 for the first time...

it was exquisite.

It's almost exactly like the movie I imagine in my head after someone doesn't tip well.
