No it's a good thing.  It needs to be seen as a money maker.

Because years from now someone will reboot transformers properly ala batman begins.

Bridesmaids: Thought I'd hate it, but it was pretty great.

Ace Ventura Pet Detective: Fucking awful. This movie has not aged well at all.

Orphan: Another one I'd been avoiding, although it was also decidedly worthwhile.

The Chinese Connection: Some more Bruce Lee. Boring as shit outside of the fight scenes, and there's a lot of it.

Mortal Kombat: Blech.

The Great Mouse Detective: Not as scary as I remember it from a quarter century ago, but not bad overall.

Or they could reboot it as a piece of crap because people will pay to see crap as the Bayformers trilogy has demonstrated.

Wow.  This is absurd.  I like to remind people who bitch about Michael Bay that the alternative isn't to have Christopher Nolan direct.  It's to have Paul W. S. Anderson, Stephen Sommers or Uwe Boll direct.  It's Transformers.  It's not pulling in major bucks because of the amazingness that was established in the 80s.  It's pulling in major bucks because Michael Bay made it into something marketeable.

Yeah how foolish of me it's all Bay, there's nothing awesome about giant robots who transforms into vehicles and fight each other with lasers and swords.

Only the mighty Bay could take such a worthless concept and make it marketable!

Though both aDam and IDE have seen this, I have a perfect point to make on this that I've already made elsewhere:

Quote
What I'm seeing from non-fans who love the movies is that they love watching big-ass robots blowing shit up...not because they love Sam's folks, not because Shia's so funny, not because of the love story, not because of the military. A little T&A didn't hurt, either.

It's hard to get this formula wrong. It's also why this last movie is greater than the second and at least as worth a watch as the first...the action was done much better than ever before, thanks to 3D forcing them to get over the extreme close-up fighting that resulted in a confusing blur of the shrapnel-fest that passes for Bayformers. It's just easier on the eyes.

Imagine that sort of action with less busy robot designs (not saying as simplified as G1 designs, but come on), an actual story to move things along, and meaningful human interaction and character development for both Earthlings and Cybertronians. It can be done, and there's no reason for it not having already been done.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Any time there's a human on screen, I fucking hate it. The whole concept just nosedives.

What they need to do is move the timeline way forward so that humanity is a spacefaring race, and we get all these other weird aliens and space battles and shit thrown into the mix.

Get the fuck off Earth.

Sorry, what I should have said is that's what I'd like to see happen. There's precedent for it in both the cartoon and comics, and I thought it worked well in both.

No more human soldiers emasculating Decepticons, thanks.

I should also add that I enjoyed all three movies to varying degrees, the second being the lowest on the totem pole, obviously, but the third still had more than a few elements I could have done without.

I streamed some of 'The Ramen Girl' and 'The Civilization of Maxwell Bright' on Netflix, both of which I found boring enough to dump after about five minutes.

I also watched 'Black Swan'.  Found it kinda meh.  The 'dancing with the focus on the neck and the shoulders' bothered me more than I know it should've.

2001: A Space Odyssey

I watched the "trippy part" near the end at about 4x speed and it still took forever. I have to wonder if Kubrick even had an editor and if he just put every single piece of film he shot on the screen. It is hard believe that this was cut down to 140 mins from 160. You mean there was 20 more minutes of this stuff?

The Hobbit: Still pretty great after all these years. It's eerie how much of it informed the eventual creation of Thundercats.

The Lord of the Rings: Fucking awful. I don't care what anyone says, rotoscoping is not animation. Fuck, half the time they don't even bother to draw over the actors. Lazy garbage.

It just reminded me of something else I hate.

You know those comic book "artists" who take photographs of people and then trace over them? "Look at me, I can draw!"

BULLSHIT.

Even worse are the ones who take existing comic book art and trace over that.

It's called plagiarism.

Whenever I hear about Will Smith these days it's in association with some unnecessary sequel.

Independence Day 2. Men In Black 3.

What? Are they afraid we've forgotten who he is and that we all need to be eased back in with something familiar?

Wild Wild West 2.

Haha. No, not that one.
