Did some minor corrections:

The Last Airbender is an anime where there are four elemental tribes, and one of them, the air tribe, is thought to be wiped out because it was thought that the next avatar would come from that tribe. Avatars are able to use all the bending magic and they tend to fight the bad guys, the fire tribe in this case. A lot of this could be wrong because I only watched the first four episodes.

Just to avoid confusion--not to be all anal or anything or cause "what the word really means" debates--it's not an anime in the stricter defintions of the word.  Made in America, animated in Korea and using Chinese martial arts based in an Asian fantasy world that probably bares some but little semblence to Japan.

And to note, I love the shit out of this fucking show.  I'll save my rants, but DO NOT SEE THE FILM UNLESS YOU PIRATE IT.  Seriously, the producers are ignorant racist assholes and they should not be rewarded for it.  I plan on making a thread to soapbox on.  If you're curious, this website will tell you everything you need to know.

IMO: I rank them Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village... and then I stopped.

The Book of Eli is 118 minutes long.

What I've seen lately:
Ong Bak 2 - LOVED this.  Tony Jaa, I <3 U.
The House on Haunted Hill - With Vincent Price.  Liked it, was disappointed that it ended how it did cause I wanted more.
Elena - Based on a true story of a Greek-American whose mom is executed.  Decent.  Linda Hunt gets shot... :) but off-screen. :/
Rocky and Rocky II.
Molière - Awesome fucking movie.

I hope "The Last Airbender" does really well. But I know by hoping that it will fail, which is why I am doing it.

Absolutely.  I love a good martial arts flick.  I also sometimes watch wuxia series like "Laughing in the Wind", "The Handsome Siblings" (Nicholas Tse is generally awesome, but this series was kinda lacking), and the lovely 2006 Return of the Condor Heroes series starring Huang Xiaoming as Yang Guo.  I'd like to see more of the Condor Hero trilogy but Netflix doesn't have the Legend of the Condor Heroes with Li Yapeng.  Boo to them.

Totally said I wasn't going there right now but Tse would've made the perfect Fire Lord Ozai for The Last Airbender.  Would've pushed the age envelope some, but (1) Ozai looks young anyway and (2) Tse's still technically old enough to have a fifteen year old son.

If you like martial arts, you should give the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon series a try.  The fights and bending (what they call using elemental powers in the series) were coordinated using a true martial artist, Sifu Kisu, and based off movements from real styles like Northern Shaolin and Southern Praying Mantis.  Of course, when making the live action movie they decided his help was no longer required.  So far all of the footage of the lead character's (the bald white kid) martial arts scream SLOPPY.  He might as well be the Star Wars kid.

You mean Avatar: The Last Airbender?
I'm able to watch it here.  Don't know if the whole series is viewable, but it's not obscure so it should be easy enough for you to find.

I've never seen Ip Man, but it defintetly looks interesting.

Last movie I saw but wish I had not: Dragonball Evolution.
Derrick wanted to see how bad it was. Now I'm plotting between making him watch Grease with me with the condition of singing along with one song...or watching Sex and the City Movie.

I was at Blockbuster last weekend and very tempted to rent that trainwreck, but I had too many other things I wanted to see so I passed.

Make him do Grease but he's has to sing along to that Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee song.

I haaaatted the SATC movie, haaated. And mind you I know like 99% of the episodes by heart, but I really disliked that crap, except for Samantha. Weirdly enough, after I finished watching it my boy came and said that he wanted to watch it too 0_0
Ahhh I love Grease, John Travolta looks sooooooo HOT.

Nuri, watch Ip Man, its AWESOME. Made me become a fan of Bruce Lee's master, even though I'm not a fan of Bruce Lee (and the movie is not 100% corroborate). I love all movies that make the japanese look bad lol

Baldwin was in Beetlejuice?

I never even knew. It must have been the huge glasses.

Saw Big Trouble in Little China for the first time. Great little crappy racist 80s movie. Funny thing is, the only times I saw it before this, I only saw the part where they rescue all the women in the cages and then go swimming in the sewers. Go figure.

Lo Pan is awesome.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Lo Pan is awesome.

Indeed!

Right on with BTiLC. It was a perfectly crappy little ton of fun. I still pop it into the DVD player from time to time, just to enjoy the delightful ludicrousness of it all.

Last movie I saw was the Justice League Crisis on Two Earths direct to DVD feature. It was pretty good...disappointed in the voice talent and some of the character designs, but the storyline was pretty tight (not that close to the Morrison story, but McDuffie's version was pretty solid) and the animation was very fluid and easy on the eyes.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Finally saw The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.  Synopsis in one line: Guy has stroke and can only communicate by blinking with one eye.  An amazing story but yeah, kinda a downer.

EDIT: And oh man.  In the movie, the guy's baby-mama is a vigilant saint but supposedly it was actually his current girlfriend who had that role.  In the movie, she's portrayed as a coward.  Ouch.  Lengthly article about debated truth of the film.

Chocolate - (ช็อคโกแลต/Fury) Thai fighting flick.  Pretty much a less frentic Ong Bak starring an autistic girl.  Had some awesome fights.  Ended exactly you expect, which was a bit disappointing only because it's a bit sad.

A Touch of Spice - (Πολιτική Κουζίνα/Political Cuisine) A bittersweet Greek film.  This is the synopsis on Netflix:  "Growing up in Istanbul under the care of his upbeat, culinary-minded grandfather, Fanis (Georges Corraface) learned the secret of a happy existence: Life, like food, requires a dash of spice. But when Fanis returns home years later, he fears he's forgotten the lesson. Taking his grandfather's philosophy out into the world, Fanis has become a first-class chef, spicing up the lives of others -- but neglecting his own."

I Netflixed it expecting this sort of film but aside from the first half of the first sentence, it is WRONG.  It is, as the original title suggests, a film about how a culinary-inclined Greek-Turk (NOT a pro-chef as is suggested) was affected by the politics between the Turks and the Greeks as a boy well into adulthood.  It is in Greek, Turkish, and Engish with hard subtitles (that is, they're not removable) and though I know very little Greek and no Turkish, it's painfully obvious how incomplete they are.  What's worse, the sound quality is not all that great.  It is ultimately a very good movie.  The aunt getting cured and uncured of Parkinson's made me lol.

I have Chocolate on a dvd. Good movie but some parts look fake, even though I know they are all real. Also did you see the cut accident scenes? some of the extras really do get hurt, even she gets hurt.
btw the japanese dad: HOT yakuza

I watched the Mist. Ok movie, awesome ending
