I'm glad to hear Moana's good. I hope it sucks up a lot of the business from its competition.
I saw a flick on Netflix called "Skin Trade." Why? Because it starred Dolph, Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White, Peter Weller, and Ron Perlman using an accent. What's there not to love? Everything. It's such an uncomfortable fuckin' film. I mean, Ron Perlman does what Ron Perlman does best: he twirls that figurative mustache the best he can. In fact, I gotta say that all the actors seemed to be doing their best to salvage this. Loved Peter Weller getting all pissed off. He needs to get his own series or something. Heard a lot of criticism on Tony Jaa's English and honestly, I didn't get far enough in the movie to assess that. But when a picture relies on Tony Jaa's English instead of Tony Jaa's ass-kicking prowess, I gotta question priorities.
The film's supposed to have a woman trafficking plotline but manages to exploit women as much as it can, even when it does nothing to serve the story. It's so squick-inducing. It was woman being ogled, woman being drugged, woman being kidnapped, woman being kept prisoner, woman almost getting raped, woman + a bunch of other woman rotting dead in a crate, obligatory strip club scene, another woman being ogled, also being set up to be raped, oh she's about to be raped, oh she got stripped but not raped, Dolph's character's has a comely daughter (oh no), now sex scene with Dolph's character's wife, does she get raped too, nope lol she died. By then, I had it and checked out. Reading the summary of what I missed, all of that shit was just the set-up Talk about long and convoluted. Dolph's character is supposed to travel to Thailand where he meets Tony's character. Why didn't they just have Dolph and Michael Jai White as FBI partners that pursued Ron Perlman to Thailand and cut to the chase? Where's this other shit coming from? Just bleh. I'm a fan of all of those dudes, too. What a waste.
