I wasn't bothered by Wes Anderson telling a story set in Japan.

So, you might think the body of that post contradicts my opening statement

I don't think it did.

That's also because it reminded of Fantastic Mr. Fox (in both visuals and general feel) and how fucking boring I found the second half of that film.
Fantastic Mr Fox was one of my favourite books when I was a kid and I was pissed the movie did it no justice imo. Who the fuck was that little cousin anyways? Why add him?

Watched " A Quiet Place". It was ok, the last death was completely unnecessary and it pissed me off. Plus one of the main "big points" of the movie was stupid as HELL (cant talk about it since its not on the trailer but it has something to do with the woman).  Everything else was good. I recommend it. Oh yeah, except the main dude's bulbous nose, it was distracting. The guy (John something ) looks like a human-sized hobbit .

One more thing to bitch about: Before even buying the ticket to see this, I knew it was going to be a BIG mistake, since I had heard it was a mostly silent/focusing on the quietness movie and god knows how these effing people here can NOT keep quiet. So yeah there was a lot of talking, phone ringing, alarms and doritos bag-grabbing that spoiled a lot of it for me.

I already read spoilers a while back, so, yeah, that family's pretty much doomed now, right? Oh, and you know those two are husband and wife irl, right?

I keep hearing that kids in the theaters were crying about all of the deaths. And... well... this is the only place I can openly say this: I FIND THAT FUCKING HILARIOUS.

Huh. I didn't even consider that. I don't think there was a single child at our showing. I mean, I suppose some parents do take their really small kids to these things sometimes. But come on, you get what you pay for, it's not like this is a Disney movie or something.

Let's see... last movie... Merla and I saw a showing of Howl's Moving Castle not too long ago. Decent for what it is. I don't think I'll see the new Avengers. Nor Deadpool 2 for that matter. I just don't think either one has anything to offer me. Will likely go see Antman and the Wasp with Merla tho'. Really just interested in going for the "and the Wasp" portion if I'm being honest about it.

Saw Infinity War and Isle of Dogs. They were both alright.

Kids crying at Infinity War reminds me of Transformers 1986 and all I can say is, yeah, life sucks.

I might see Avengers next week. I won't be on call, and there's no major holiday and tropical storm scheduled to fuck everything up.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I saw Solo!

Embarrassing. Insulting.

Did you ever wonder why his name is Han "Solo"? Neither did anybody else! But this movie reveals the answer to the question no one asked.

I can't decide if it's worse than Rogue One. Maybe not quite.

You know, it really wasn't 100% garbage. There were definitely moments where it threatened to be a much better film, but these were few and far between.

I had to see it, though. I'll go to every St*r WarzzZZ they put out there.

They're gonna nail it one of these times.

Right?

Surprised they had such a measured response to it. Hell, Rich even enjoyed it! I fully expected them to tear the movie to shreds, but it seems only Jay outright hated it.

Bah. Fuck all you guys. It was ten times better then The Last Jedi. Other the one or two things I really liked it.

I'm starting to think I might have crossed over from that Berestein Bears universe where good movie are bad and bad movies are good.

I thought Solo was plenty of fun. It was not a sterling example of what a good movie should be but it was perfectly fine.

The name thing was cheesy AF, though. I'll grant you that.

It was ten times better then The Last Jedi.

Faint praise: roadkill is ten times better than TLJ.

I don't care anymore.

BTW, Avengers was meh...it was well done, but it suffered from having far too many people that needed something to do as well as an obviously temporary ending. It'll probably hold up better once part two arrives, but anyway. Quill should have his ass kicked up around his shoulders by everyone present.

Last Jedi was a turning point for me. Sitting in the theater, I was somehow able to ignore most of the outright dumb shit, and left feeling pretty good about the movie overall. Upon further reflection, it's kind of a mess.

Going into Solo, my outright dumb shit detector was already working overtime, and I was fully prepared to denounce the film within the first ten minutes. It only got worse from there.

St*r WarzzZZ is in a really weird place right now.

Yeah. I recognized Starscream. Don't know the last time I recognized a bot from they way they look in a Bay film. It's usually just random name slapped on random bot.

Deadpool 2. It was enjoyable, but not as good as the first. There was a lot that could have been cut. Like Negasonic and her girlfriend. I mean other then a few jokes and showing up to do almost nothing at the end they were pretty pointless. A little sad they didn't use Shatterstar better. I always liked that guy.

Yeah. I recognized Starscream. Don't know the last time I recognized a bot from they way they look in a Bay film. It's usually just random name slapped on random bot.

Probably because he's only a producer, I don't think he has much of an impact on that one.

I finally got around to seeing Star Trek Beyond. This might actually be the worse Trek movie (granted I haven't watched the worst of the older films in awhile).  The story was a mess, we don't really get a good idea of why the enemy is a threat, there was basically no emotional connection. It could have been a great send-off for Yelchin and Nemoy but ultimately felt pretty fucking meh.

Also, I don't remember if I ever made any comments about TLJ here. I don't exactly hate Rose like many people do, I thought the character was okay but not an incredible add. What wasn't okay was the entire dumb-ass side mission, dumb ass Poe who's been in a military organization for basically a decade pretending like the chain of command doesn't matter, the commanding officer not recognizing that he was a bit of a loose cannon who had a lot of people that could be under his sway, the entire fucking idea of the side mission, the shit fight with Plasma, and her dumb-ass choice to ram Finn. I don't blame Rose for any of that, I blame the writers, directors, and producers. Oh, and the Merry Poppins bullshit was awful. They could have done that a different way and made it work or done some re-cutting to make that her final scene (maybe that would have worked poorly as well, though, I'm not certain). Also, Holdo should have realized that Poe doesn't listen to orders considering THE VERY FIRST THING HE DOES in the film is not listen to orders and get all of the Resistance's bombers blown to fucking shit, including Rose's sister, who was probably more interesting.

EDIT: I forgot to say, I think better editing actually could have saved TLJ. I actually did not hate the film but I still like it better than TPM (excepting the Darth Maul fight). The Rey/Kylo stuff I very much liked. Would have preferred Luke's story ended differently but ultimately I can accept it, even if it was out of character how he was in the beginning of the film. The other dumb shit, though... ugh.
