I was going down the internet rabbit hole to find out what happened to the singer Wolfette...

...and found out she quit music years ago to pop out a bunch of kids and be a food entrepreneur. I guess it beats disappearing off of the face of the earth like a lot of singers seem to but I wished she managed to release an actual album first. I liked a bunch of her songs and they can't be found on YouTube at all. All I have are low bitrate rips.

During the MySpace era, I ripped so much music I loved from artists that appear to never be destined to actually release an album. I imagine they get chewed up and spit out by the industry, unable to make a living so need to move on to other things. So I don't blame them by any measure. It just sucks for me.

Dunno if this will work because I've never tried to link a bandcamp page. No Yes More Less from the new PIG album has a full length preview available. It sounds good but it almost sounds like part of it's from another PIG track.

Too good for Dr. Strange. Needs more telepath neck-snapping and Wanda-wanking so it can be sufficiently terrible.

"Merciless Light" is a fantastic album. KMFDM is back! Except it's the new PIG album.

The actual KMFDM album, HYENA, was terrible. Okay, wait, that's not fair. I shouldn't say that and give the impression I could actually get through it or anything. I got two and a 1/5 of a track into it before I gave up in disgust. I'll go back through the tracks one by one later to see if any gems are hiding in this.

Holy shit, Hyena sounds like it was randomly generated by deep learning.

Side-note, but the album art looks terrible. Is this still Brute? It's so lazy!

Edited to attach an image. The woman looks good by herself but it's like she was just weirdly pasted into the top corner of the image. Should've had her walking the hyena on a leash like Harley Quinn.

Does this work? Playlist for "Merciless Light."

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpLwVQPRuGDW_5h_T8d04XQjIkac8aCkN

I'm now listening to more of HYENA so I can be, like, fair.  In all seriousness, I'm hoping to find a track or two I like. Even though I've never been in love in their work the way I was twenty years ago, sometimes I'll find something banging. Although the last track from them I really liked might've been "Amnesia" which is ten years old (much to my dismay).

So...

"Hyena" - title track. Feels very... unrefined. I had to try two different YouTube uploads because it sounds super tinny. I know, I know. YouTube. Ain't gonna find the highest of quality or whatever but it's free for me (because Merla got Premium, hyuck). It's not the worst thing but... MEH. Don't really care for it. The guitars are good but all over the place as if they came from multiple songs. The vocals are... Really, I'd just as soon go listen to Stray Bullet, which accomplishes the vibe this song wants way better and over twenty years sooner.

"All Wrong – But Alright" - not alright.

"Blindface" - Sounds like a Nightcore version of a fucking Offspring song circa Conspiracy of One.

"Deja Vu" - politics with heavy bluesy elevator music for two minutes. MEH.

"Deluded Desperate Dangerous & Dumb" - sounds like when one of those kid shows like Sesame Street try to be roll 'n roll and cool. Wtf.

"Immortally Yours" - the theme to your favorite edgy fanfic from the 90's

"Liquor Fish & Cigarettes" -  :nono:

"In Dub We Trust" - I'm reminded of this guy...

Yeeeeeah... I'll stand by my earlier assessment.

For whatever reason, the urge to listen to "Into the Ocean" by Blue October popped into my head the other day. I'm not sure how or why that happened. I don't think Blue October is bad or anything but most of their music is "miss" rather than "hit" for me. I tried listening to the whole album, "Foiled," and wasn't feeling anything other than "Into the Ocean" and "X Amount of Words."

Linking the audio video here. The actual music video is kinda EEEEEH.

This was the official music video for this song?  Wow.  But she's pretty enough and sparkly enough and sounds good enough that I can't laugh at it.

Kessoku Band's album is doing really good apparently. I hope this means we'll get Bocchi season two. For people not watching Bocchi, "Kessoku Band" is the band Bocchi's a part of in the Bocchi the Rock anime. I really like all of the songs. A good blend of pop and rock. Posting my favorite track, That Band.

This was a good album: Cinéma Vérité by Dramarama. I've never actually listened to the entire album before. I had purchased a Greatest Hits CD around the early 00's because I was curious about them since I liked one song. And I got the neat surprise of liking the entire CD. So I'm glad I gave this a try and I'll look for more of their stuff.

I can't decide if I still like The Sounds. Their first album "Living in America" was so solid and "Dying to Say This to You" was a good follow-up. I'd listen to them both on repeat in full back in 2006/2007. But nothing they've done since comes close to the lesser tracks on either of those albums.

This is one of their latest songs and I think it could've been improved by a little less repetition. The chorus could've been better with some different words. Instead of, uh, repeating "the things we do for love" thrice each time.

This song auto-played right after and this one also keeps repeating "safe and sound." I'd almost prefer they'd pop out a thesaurus just to get some different words. Maybe I'm being too hard on the repeating words. I could probably find examples in their old shit, too. But those songs had hooks and slapped. Their recent stuff sounds like they're tired.
