I saw Rideback.  On a general scale I give it an A.  On a Nuri-scale, a B.  It kinda got "serious business" when I wasn't expecting it to be so that chipped away at my personal enjoyment of it.  I really liked those Ridebacks (the combo robot/motorcyle things the characters ride) and really wanted to see the characters have more fun with those and get into cool races (which doesn't happen because, well, 'serious business').

Having not actually finished Rideback I'm glad it seems to get to "serious bizness" because when I watched the first few episodes it's like "There's a girl who learns how to race motorcycle mechs, and btw some shit's going on in the background that has nothing to do with the main plot." If the entire anime was about racing mechs while the world went to shit and none of the main characters noticed or were affected by it, I'd wonder why they even mentioned it in the anime at all.

:lmao:  I thought he was okay as one of the Hitachin twins in Ouran.  His Son Goku from Saiyuki gets a pass, too, but that character sorta IS a whiny bitch.  But I think the number of roles he should be playing greatly dwarf the number he's actually casted in.

I watched this thing called Tears to Tiara.  I thought the first ep was pretty good.  But then I saw more episodes and it kinda gets dumber imo.  The main dude apparently is going to get a loli harem (YAWN), it injects more comedy into the plot (most of it falls flat), and skips important parts (like the main dude becoming chief of the tribe and not one fuck is given that day, huh?)... among other things.  I don't think I'll be sticking with it if it continues getting progressively stupid like this, but I'm going to give it another ep or two.  If it plateaus, I could stand to see the end since the story moves at good pace.  Also, the secondary male character is played by Chris Ayres, older brother to Greg, whose voice is equally irritating AND he's trying to do some kind of accent at the same time.  EGAD.  Awful.  In fact, several characters had weird inconsistent accents.  I don't know why they bothered to tell you the truth.
His harem anime is his younger sisters, I think. Makes it even creepier. In any case I think the boy's supposed to be King Arthur or some shit. I don't know if you finished it but I personally found the entire series bland and stupid.

I went to an anime convention at the beginning of the month. Dressed as Lupin III. Had a pretty good time.

During the con my college's anime club president texted me to say he was resigning, but we kinda saw that coming a long time ago as he never showed up for club most of the time anyway.
And this is a good thing, as when he did run the club he only showed new anime. And 90% of the time only showed harem anime (Including all of Tiara, which he loved but I say really sucked assnipples). And that's why people left the club, because he'd play shit anime. So now I'm trying to take some control of the club and make it better, but the guy running it now likes to play shit on streaming anime sites so we watch a lot of low-res grainy shit with ads.

But we are watching some better shit though.
Fate Zero - Prequel to Fate Stay Night, and looks pretty good.
Star Driver - Great stuff but the premise is starting to get old fast.
Baccano - Just started it and looks good so far.
Ben-to - People fight over discount bento boxes at grocery stores. Somewhat interesting.

I personally have a long list of anime I want to get around to finishing, including Rideback, and Caanan. I was last watching Kemeko DX but stopped that a while ago and forgot to restart it.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I saw the movie Sword of the Stranger.  Pretty good.  I was left wanting more but would probably prefer a prequel on No Name rather than any sort of sequel.  What IS that thing the kid's holding anyway?  It makes me laugh.

Redline blu-ray hits tomorrow.

Watch it.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I actually watched the beginning on Youtube last night up to the point where he's on that trashy-ass moon/planetoid or what-have-you and really didn't care for it.  It wasn't for me.

It wasn't for me.

You don't have to care for it to watch it. Besides, you hate everything.

Saying you watched something as magnificent as Redline on Youtube is like saying you ate a world-class steak from Lean Cuisine.

I can't believe you ppl are having these kind of reactions to the fact that I didn't like your precious Redline.  (Not even "hate", btw.)  What does it matter to you if I don't like it?  Do you enjoy it less or something?  Would you rather I lied to you?  "Tee hee!  Redline was magnificent!  :)"  Here, I'll post on it further and you can cry some more:

I thought it was generally ugly-looking as far as designs go.  Characters and all.
I dug the color palette.
I liked Sonoshee.  What little I saw of her anyway.
The story bored me.  In fact, the main character guy looked as bored half the time as I felt.
I don't want to see characters doing gross shit like wiping coke on his teeth or whatever the fuck that was.  Gross.  Don't want it.
The animation was weird in a way that almost made me nauseous.  I appreciate it's differences but that's the limit.
I quit the movie but picked up the OST afterwards because I kinda liked the music.
And I DO have to care to watch something.  If I can't care at all, then there's no point in watching it.

JP isn't bored he is lackadaisical and maybe a bit burned out, but deep down still passionate.

You didn't get to the good part of the story and the plot isn't super complex, it doesn't need to be either.

How do you know wiping coke on your teeth isn't fun?

Animation style is a legit grudge.  Some other people said that too, but it's just different.

If you watched further you would care I don't know how you can't care about this portrait of the human experience.  Plus there is more sonoshee the further you go.

At the end of the movie I masturbated and shouted "Now THAT'S pod racing!" at the top of my lungs.

Anime: it's serious business 8) Besides, I'm not the one who posted an 11-line rebuttal!

But as I seemed to irritate you more than intended, I'll respond in kind...and more kindly.

I thought it was generally ugly-looking as far as designs go.  Characters and all.
Aliens are generally going to be ugly. I appreciated that they didn't go totally stereotypical anime-style on this movie, as anime itself is sort of passé these days.

I dug the color palette.
Agreed. It was different. But good different.

I liked Sonoshee.  What little I saw of her anyway.
Don't know how you based this on fifteen or so minutes of viewing, but anyway. While it was really JP's story, I'd have liked to have seen more of her and her backstory, too. Admittedly, I felt we saw a tad too much of her later on...while a titty-flash is simple anime fan service, for a flick specifically designed by its director to appeal to American viewers, such a scene diminishes the potential audience. It doesn't matter how totally casual it was.

The story bored me.  In fact, the main character guy looked as bored half the time as I felt.
JP is a laid-back goof who gets off on racing. He shows more passion down the line.

I don't want to see characters doing gross shit like wiping coke on his teeth or whatever the fuck that was.  Gross.  Don't want it.
Eh, mobsters do gross stuff. It's hardly the grossest thing I saw in the movie (the spaghetti worms were more gross to me...and to Sonoshee :D).

The animation was weird in a way that almost made me nauseous.  I appreciate it's differences but that's the limit.
Good thing you stopped when you did, because the Redline race was far more epic in this regard. The hurried feeling the animation conveyed was one reason I found it so great, particularly in HD and surround sound. I found everything going on visually to be exhilarating.

I quit the movie but picked up the OST afterwards because I kinda liked the music.
Good move...the score really fit the flick.

And I DO have to care to watch something.  If I can't care at all, then there's no point in watching it.
I definitely know how that is...I just wanted to give you a hard time for it. I don't even bother watching most stuff people recommend to me.

Hey, it's the first time I've been here in a few months. Shit needed stirring ;)

My problem is that I have very lenient and hit-or-miss taste in the stuff. I'll watch critically acclaimed stuff and hate it, yet take the most God-awful horrible shit and find something to like in it.

Ho ho, just wait until you get the extended version in 22 years.

Same here.  I don't see that as a problem really.  I realize why people loved Totoro and Ponyo.  They have well deserved percentages at Rotten Tomatoes.  But SNNNNNORE.

Just what is that about anyway?  I remember some movie had aired on TV once and I just had it on in the background while I did shit but wasn't too interested.  It looked bleh.  I remember Bernie was ribbing Crispy-Crunch Freeman's weird British-or-whatever accent in that.

I liked the ROD OVA and TV series. Neither one made much sense, but they were fun and had their own unique style about them. I hated what they did in the TV series to the boob machine from the OVA, though.

ROD the OVA (came first by several years) was about a nerdy bookish chick who had powet over paper to fight weirdos based on allegedly historically famous characters (I'd heard of one, IIRC) for some secret English bunch (think librarians from MI6) that had this chick with huge tits who phased through stuff and a commando dude with the powet to fire automatic weapons.

ROD the TV was about three sisters with paper powers, a ditz with boobs, a serious middle sister and a little feisty one. They go on adventures that begin to cross over with the OVA characters about half-way through. I don't remember that much about it, honestly.

I think I watched the OVA. Was there a hot librarian chick and the parting of a large body of water?

I remember thinking it was awesome, but not having a fucking clue what I was watching.

I think the title "Read or Die" is a lot more ominous and cool-sounding than the actual content of the show.

Been watching Star Driver. Was getting tired of the "Monster of the week" episode format, but then around episode 15-16 they actually started getting some sort of a plot. Also, something major and somewhat traumatic happens to the two redhead twins that made me feel real sorry for them... I say no more.

And after seeing the first three episodes of Baccano I am confused as fuck. I'm not exactly liking this show because they tend to have multiple story lines going on at the same time that connect in some way, and they switch between them randomly. So it will be 1932, then 1930, then 1931, then 1933, and back again, ect. It's hard to keep track of characters because there's so many of them and with the timelines switching all the time it's hard to know exactly what the fuck is going on besides that there's a bunch of immortals, all with different factions/gangs/groups of criminals.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

I've got but not yet seen Baccano because I picked it up before I realized it was one of those weird-ass mindjob shows that actually requires you to pay attention to figure it out. Despite my abiding love for Evangelion, I'm tired of those types. I want brainless, fun stuff that I can forget after a short layover.

It took a couple episodes of Haganai for me to get into it, but it's struck that nerve. When I find something to laugh about in every episode that's not derogatory toward the production but actually something funny, that's a little bit remarkable. The nutty thing is that it's the little sisters that tend to kill me.
