Moonlit Dusk or whatever is good so far. I hear it delves into a love triangle, which I despise. But it has my attention so far.

The Villainess is Adored by the Prince of a Neighboring Kingdom one is late to the game. There's been enough of these isekai villainess shows that explaining the mechanics is head-scratching and this show doesn't feel very fresh so far. The love interest's name is fuckin' Aquasteed. EW. Honestly, I'm really cheesed this garbo is getting a dub and 7th Time Loop Villainess still doesn't have one. Injustice, man.

I thought I would dip out on Moonlit after a couple minutes, but ended up watching the whole thing. Added to the watchlist. I also liked that Polar Opposites one despite bouncing off the manga back in the day.

Are you watching Fate Strange Fake? I'm finding it easier to get into than other Fate stuff because this one seems to overlap somewhat with what I know about Melty Blood, what with vampires and the Church and all that.

I saw that ep 1 sneak peek where Crunchyroll put the first ep up on YouTube temporarily. I didn't really care for it that much. I was really excited when the project was first announced but I'm not sure if I'll watch any more of it.

I will say that I wasn't convinced after the first episode. It felt very methodical and exposition-heavy. The action in the second episode was quite good, though.

Worth noting, not a fan of male Saber. I always thought the whole point of the character was "What if King Arthur but girl?" and now we've come back around to "What if King Arthur but girl... BUT BOY?!"

But male Saber in this is Richard the Lionheart, right? Or is that a spoiler? I can never remember with this fuckin' franchise.

Or do you mean more like having a guy in the role of the Saber character itself feels weird?

Okay, so it's really just a matter of me making assumptions based on my incomplete Fate knowledge then.

But yeah, my understanding was that Saber is a female knight who wields Excalibur. I knew there was a red one that has a different personality from the typical blue one, but that's about the extent of it.

Yeah, there's male Sabers but girl-Arthur is just the most famous one. Remember, a Saber is a class. Just like Archer, Lancer, Berserker, etc so there's a bunch of them all in the franchise.

Also, not to confuse you even more, but there's a bunch of Saber-face characters, too. Both characters that are other versions of King Arthur and other characters that are different people but have the same face. And not all of those people are Sabers. Like how Gilgamesh is best known for being an Archer but there's also a Caster Gilgamesh. I think he's also capable of being a Rider. What they can be summoned as depends on their skills in life, if I recall. So Artoria can be a Rider and a Lancer in additional to being a Saber. If you recall Fate Zero, she could ride a motorcycle like a bad-ass because she has rider skills and those skills enable her to be summoned as a Rider.

So there's a red Saber that's supposed to be Nero and there's another red Saber--known as Saber of Red--who is Girl Arthur-Saber's biological child with Morgan le Fay: Mordred. Jeanne d'Arc is also another Saber-face and she was a Ruler in Apocrypha.

All this shit gets more confusing with stuff like Apocrypha and the Samurai Remnant game having two Sabers participating in the story. But I think Strange Fake only had a singular Saber.

I was curious about this upcoming show so I dipped my toe into the manga. Holy shit, she's fuckin' brutal. This isn't the hollow revenge most of these types of shows advertise. Heads roll. She's out for blood. It's a weird disconnect having her decapitate loads of people or fuckin' melt them and then have her being a cute waifu a few chapters later. What the fuck. She's very Mary Sue-ish but probably the most vindictive Mary Sue I've seen. Legit creeping into villain territory. I will say, it at least makes her interesting.

Don't get me wrong. Frieren's still good.  But magic nullifying crystals? If I rolled my eyes any harder, I'd be shooting off to China like a comet. Having them be an ingredient in a magic-nullifying spell would be one thing, but this material just hangs around in this world and... and... did it ever come up before? Also, I need Mrs. Green Apple to stop getting work. They suck and the OP is audible poop.

Love Through A Prism lost me. I have to say, it didn't help that I watched a couple of vids about how Netflix dumbs down content for phone scrollers. Then this show's spoon-feeding the setting and plot. I think it's just a coincidence and Netflix isn't responsible for that, but it didn't help my impression. Also, I found none of these characters likeable. Pity, because I was hoping to like this one.

On the flip-side, the homo accountant isekai one's grown on me. Like a fun hemorrhoid. Some of the side characters are meh but the main characters carry this as they should.

Yeah, I appreciate how pretty that Love on the Spectrum one is, but I think it was the fifth episode I was watching last night, and I was just like, "Man, I'm bored. This is boring." Maybe it's partly because Netflix dumped the whole thing at once and I've been doing an episode a day. Overkill, you know?

At the opposite end of the looks department, boy is Trigun Stargaze ugly. I think it might actually look worse than Stampede. What's the deal with Orange, anyway? Their output is so inconsistent. Land of the Lustrous is still the best thing they've ever done as far as I'm concerned.

That reminds me: I have yet to watch Leviathan. I was looking at Orange 's work and saw the name and was all, "oh, that exists."

I never watched the Triguns. Probably explains why I never watched Leviathan. That art style is hard to look at. Land of the Lustrous worked because they were all gems. But organic things don't do well in their style.

Yes! Exactly my thinking. It's understood that the LotL people aren't strictly human, so it doesn't matter that they're a little off. The same can be said for Beastars. I have no real idea how an actual anthropomorph would look/move, so they're able to get away with some slightly janky visuals. To be fair though, I do think Beastars can still look kind of bad at times.

But as soon as they're tasked with rendering humans... PFFFFFFT. And thank you for reminding me of Leviathan, I had completely flushed it from my memory banks. With Godzilla Singular Point they didn't even bother and just animated all the people in traditional 2D, and I think that worked in its favor.

I think Journal with Witch is my only win this season.

Frieren's okay. I haven't read the manga for it so I don't know what's coming up but I'm not terribly excited for it thus far. This happened last season, too. Sometimes it can feel too mellow. Merla likes Frieren though so I'll probably just binge it with her.

Tamon's B-Side is also one I'm sticking with. Oh, yeah, and the isekai bean counter gay one, too. Those have been enjoyable. I guess I've had a really busy week because I forgot to watch the new eps.

Polar Opposites and Moonlit Dusk were the ones I was semi-sticking with but my interest in both of them has bottomed. Polar Opposites seems determined to make us get to know every single student within the friendship circle when my investment is in the main couple. Once the latest episode went in on library girl, I shut the episode off.

Moonlit Dusk makes me a bit impatient. It's like her same insecurities are on repeat every episode and it's tiresome.

I don't dislike either show and I'm not opposed to maybe picking them up again for a binge. But both of these are losing me. I've picked up doing puzzles to de-stress so maybe I'll watch these while doing puzzles or something.

Grail of Eris is not a very exciting adaptation. I was looking forward to it this season but after the first three or so episodes, I can't be arsed. The manga is so much better.

I was sick the other day so I picked Fate Strange/Fake back up again while I was burrito'd in bed. It's nice to look at and some of the battles were fun. I don't fucking get Hippolyta and Alcides declaring their names to Gilgamesh. That part was fucking stupid. I haven't followed the story real close so I don't know if there's a reason for them doing this. But I have a feeling there isn't one.

Saw the first ep of Champignon Witch. Honestly, I delayed watching this one because it looked kinda blah. The episode was actually really good. It feels like a fairy tale. This show needed a larger budget or a different style so that it could be oddly cozy like Journal with Witch. It has the potential and the story seems good but the presentation is really mid. I might watch more but probably won't.

Saiki was a neat gem to discover. I never would've picked it up just from looking at it. Not sure about that third season though.

Merla and I fell behind on our Frieren viewings so I didn't realize. At least the Olympics didn't make it pause for three weeks like it did to Yatagarasu.

Honestly... so much hype with Witch Hat that I'm concerned about a fumble. Delaying Sentenced to be a Hero didn't do that show any favors. Seeing the trailer, the weak spot will probably be those other three young characters. We'll see...

Might want to wait on Frieren for a few weeks and binge eps 6-10.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Oh? We might do that. Merla and I still haven't caught up past ep 3 or something.

I forgot to post about it but I finally saw a couple of eps of Leviathan. When did it come out? Last season? Season before? It's not bad. As awkward as it sort of looks, the story is where it's a bit meh. We're following two characters doing two different things and these characters eventually meet but haven't yet. It feels disjointed. Even in tone. The boy character is traumatized and so is the girl except then she's all BARKIN SPOODERS THIS IS FUN WHEEEEEE!1#$ WAR!? WE'RE GOIN' TA WAR? JIMINY CRICKETS, HOW EXCITIN'! I almost wished we just followed the boy at first and the girl's could've been flashbacks or something.

I went and watched all the Spring '26 trailers on AniChart, these are the ones that stood out to me, excluding anything I've previously mentioned being interested in.

Now you might be thinking, "What? Is he just gonna watch everything?" But no, there are way, way more shows starting in the next couple of weeks, it's honestly fucked.

Some of the stuff I'll chell out that don't overlap with your list.

Boss Queen Season 2.

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King.

Always a Catch!

An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess

I don't imagine I'll stick with much of anything. Only Journal With Witch was a constant weekly watch for me this season. Frieren was nice but since I watch it with Merla, it never had a chance to be my weekly must-watch. Everything else trickled. I stuck with Tamon and Bean Counter to almost the end and I might go back and finish those. Polar Opposites was cute but I dropped it a few eps ago and I dropped Moonlit Dusk once the other guy who liked her shows up. Oddly enough, I managed to pick up Fate Strange/Fake despite not being that interested in the first few episodes. I heard a lot of people were lost but the Fate series always requires homework before you watch one because they don't explain jack shit.

This season, I'll probably watch a lot of first eps and drop most of it. The ones with the most hype are stuff like One Piece, Dr. Stone, or Re: Zero that I have zero (heh) interest in and other continuing things. Iruma-kun was an allright show but I'm far too behind to watch whatever's current for it. Bookworm became a slog a long time ago but I might chell out an ep or two.

I'm hoping Witch Hat, Akane-banashi or Yomi no Tsugai will pull me in. The latter's okay but I'm struggling to care about it even after devouring a bunch of the manga for it. MarriageToxin looks so stylish yet reading the first few chapters of the manga made me lose my interest.

For whatever reason, this show keeps appearing in my YouTube feed:

But I can't say it looks good at all.

Liar Game is from the same creator as One Outs, which I loved the shit outta. But if it disappoints me, I'll just go rewatch One Outs.

Mao honestly looked MEH. I couldn't even finish the trailer.

Honestly, the show I'm most hype for won't even be out this year.

I saw this teaser for The One Within the Villainess, checked out the manga, and read the whole thing in a day. It's so good. A take on the classic isekai villainess story where a reincarnated girl takes over the villainesses body and works towards the villainess's happiness. Except the reincarnator gets so mind-broken that the villainess she possesses regains control over her body and works to avenge her. It's such a fresh take on the genre. Miyuki Sawashiro plays the villainess character and I'm so excited for it.

I will say that I made the mistake of reading a couple dozen chapters of Witch Hat, and I'm now far less interested in the anime. The artwork is gorgeously meticulous, but the characterization could be generously described as trite, and the overall narrative is like... Baby's First Manga.

I realize this attitude could be attributed to my rapidly advancing age, but whatever. I like what I like, and if I feel like you're showing me something I've already seen time and time again, you're just not getting your hooks in me.
