Star Trek marathon on G4
« on: Apr 15, 2006, 02:16:46 PM »
Finally, G4 does something good for a change. Their Star Trek 2.0 sucks, most of the rest of their programming sucks, and the only thing worthwhile to watch is TNG.

Today though, they started a original Star Trek marathon, with back to back episodes in order. Since there's 79 episodes total, that's 79 hours of programming. Over 3 days of nothing but "He's dead Jim!", "Illogical", and "They canna take much more, cap't!" 3 days of original Star Trek.

*puts on a radioactive suit to ward off the Trekkie jizz*
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I hate Star Trek and St*r WarzzZZ so very, very much.
10,000 steps down, round and round. One night on the town and I'm hellbound ... Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me. My little tower, seal my fate. Help me pay back, end their hate. Black oceans beneath, come and swallow me

This guy at my work is alergic to peanuts so we printed out a big Mr. Peanut (spanned 15 sheets of paper) and put it up on his wall. In the end it would just serve as an excuse for me to go by his cubicle and either punch it in the crotch or make out with it.

The fuck? Does G4 employees even know how to count? Obviously not. The ad for the marathon said 80 episodes, yet when I got home on saturday around 8 it was back to regular programming. The whole thing probably didn't last more than 10-12 hours or so.

12 hours != 80 hours you fools! No wonder your network fails! You failed basic math!

Edit:
God, even their website doesn't work! You would think a network based around computers and games could do BETTER.

Edit2:

The marathons (isn't a marathon supposed to be non-stop?) are on Saturdays starting at 9am. Not sure when they end, but I assume before 8pm.

Still A Marathon. It's just several smaller Marathons instead of one large one.

You can make out with a picture of a man shaped peanut, but can't take pictures?

Company policies can be weird like that.  What about an artist's rendering then?

Some things they think they don't need a policy for.

Anyway that's apples and oranges.  Making out with a human sized peanut goes to affecting productivity and possibly borderline harassment.  Taking pictures delves more in the realm of security breach which is a whole other can of worms which concerns a whole different bag of more anal people.

I don't know who Bob Lazar is...but I don't imagine the employees at Area 51 would be considered to be breaching security for making out with a Mr. Peanut.

Anyway no photos is not insane security precautions. Cell phones and such are actually allowed in 99% of my workplace, unlike some other places I've heard of.

Hahaha. That's not me in the picture so I don't know anything about the shirt.  Mad prods to anyone who can identify the body. I was going to put a Dinobot head on that years ago!

This is probably how it all went down...

Comcast Exec:  Hey... I've got a great idea... we can, like, buy another old show.

Comcast Exec 2: That's a great idea!

Comcast Exec: But this time, we'll, like, get an old show that someone actually WANTS to see.

Comcast Exec 2:  I dunno about that.

Comcast Exec:  But here me out.  Instead of leaving it alone, as everyone remembers and loves it, we'll throw in a bunch of crap no one needs.

Comcast Exec 2:  Hmm... that sounds good.

Comcast Exec:  Yeah... and we'll add a "2.0" after it, because if it has a "2.0" after it, someone in OHIO might actually be duped into thinking this is somehow a NEW show.

Comcast Exec 2: That's a great idea!

Comcast Exec:  But where do we put it?  We could take off one of the other shows on the network, like Street Fury or Braniac or something.

Comcast Exec 2: I dunno about that.

Comcast Exec:  OR... we can take off the best and oldest show still on the network, and put something in place of the time slot it has been airing for the last 3 years straight.

Comcast Exec 2:  Hmm... that sounds good.

Comcast Exec: You know, the only one we kept around after we spent all those millions of dollars to steal TechTV's market and DIDN'T completely fuck up yet.

Comcast Exec 2: That's a great idea!

Find out what happens next time when Bobo, the G4 18-35 demographics chimp, picks his favorite G4 show and decides what kind of feces makes the best projectile.
