In response to tom:
How so? The whole thing with Henry Gale sucked. We knew he wasn't what he said he'd be.
Rundown:
Man of Science, Man of Faith: Nice strong opening, told us a lot about what's been happened and Jack's past.
Adrift: Lots of faux tension and gayness on a raft, that was extended way longer than necessary.
Orientation: The show wraps up parts from the previous eps and we see the film strip.
Everybody Hates Hugo: Boring flashback with an obvious conclusion. Lame, time-eating dream sequence. Hurley's gesture with the hatch food, the only good thing about this episode, is negated when we later learn he's still a food-hording fatass who keeps Ranch.
...And Found: The non-flashback was acceptable but this told us NOTHING new about Jin. We find out about that duder who later teaches Sun English and how they met, things that did not need their own fricken extended flashback (and probably could've been in Sun's episode).
Abandoned: What was this one, the death of Shannon? So hammy and frickin corny it was beyond belief. Sentiments of love seem to be practically force-fed into the actors mouths, visions of Walt just seem to be over the top, and Sayid gets the required tail from Shannon before her death. Sayid holding her body in a dramatic pose in the rain was the icing on the cake that said "this is ass".
The Other 48 Days: My complaint with this one isn't content but the fact that's strung together like a grocery list. Why couldn't this have been done in as an Ana flashback in a regular episode?
Collision (a.k.a. Old Habits): Oh course Ana was pregnant, it's the only way she's permitted to "rightfully", by the audience's view, extract revenge. It would've done a lot more for the character if she had almost died and simply wanted to kill the guy for that reason. There was nothing here that required a collective 45 minutes or whatever to tell it.
What Kate Did: 1. Not surprised. 2. Didn't care. This all could've been gleamed from far less than an entire episode.
The 23rd Psalm: I was so bored. I honestly didn't watch about 80% of this.
The Hunting Party: Not horrible by any means. I guess this one was all right.
Fire + Water: Making for another eye-rolling hour, Charlie goes crazy with lots of inane nonsensical visions. Again, this show is trying to with time, like Pacman on Crack, eat it like crazy. Merla throws her hands up in the air and gives up on the series, aside from occassional speed-views with me on the DVR.
The Long Con: Liked this one.
One of Them: Started out okay then degenerated into a yawn-inducing q&a torturefest and the pointless murder of an innocent woodland creature.
Maternity Leave: Decent.
The Whole Truth: Stupid. Nominee for one of the gayest twists since "The Village".
Lockdown: Bleh. The ending and the beginning were the best parts.
I know it sounds like I completely hate the show or something, but I'm pissed off at the wasted potential and the wasted time. It's like those half-hour episodes of Idol where all they needed to do was take two minutes to announce three names and they dragged it into a half-an-hour. Either you have a story to tell or you're killing time and this is a time killer.
