But it catapulted Smash Mouth into State Fairs everywhere!!!

And I guess Mystery Men is just like Toys for me, but I liked it. Besides you could proably buy it for cheaper then you can rent it. I saw it in the 5.50 bin at Wal-Mart last night.

I liked it too...Especially when Greg Kinnear got fried.
Hank Azaria was hilarious I thought.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Delicious movie, and Directed by Tim Burton incognito.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

Not only was it lame, unfunny and gay, but it also spawned one of the most godawful and overplayed pieces of garbage ever--All Star by Smash Mouth...  I know you like to say that there's no such thing as "bad music" Megs, but try and defend that shit.

And then they gave us Walking on the Sun, a white boy dance contest song if ever there was one.

No, "then" as in the time it got back on the repetitive non-stop play list on the top 40 stations and into the clubs here.  Before All Star, it was an alternative blip.  Houston is one of the biggest audio wastelands in the nation.

Man, I can't FIND a station that plays anything I like other than 94.7, and the soft Jazz cna get old on long road trips.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Soft Jazz!!! No, no, no....when you're driving you need driving mustic. AC/DC, KISS, Motorhead....stuff like that. Soft Jazz will make you LESS likely to flip people off and that's just not how things are done here in America son.

I like NIN & Morbid Angel for road trips.  :)

I don't know why the airwaves suck here.  The "new rock alternative" station played Candlebox (Far Behind) 4 times yesterday and Motion City Soundtrack once. If you like Marc Anthony, Destiny's Child or Clint Black, you've got the whole dial to choose from, but anything else and you're SOL.  5 million people and they can't even keep a commercial classical station.  <_<

Nine Inch Nails is better when you're driving than any other time.  And what the hell are you saying about Walkin On the Sun getting played a lot after the stupid All-star song?

Walkin' on the Sun came out in summer of 1997 - believe me, I remember this because they were playing it on the "alternative" station about the time my dad died.  It was around a while, them went poof.  All Star was sometime in 1999 and you couldn't get away from it.  Of course, since Smash Mouth only did three songs, despite releasing two albums somehow, ALL the top 40 stations started heavy rotation with WOTS again with an occasional spin of Then the Morning Comes.

Except on the Pacifica station where one could catch Sorry About Your Penis from the Orgazmo soundtrack.  :P

When I first heard Marc Anthony I thought he was a woman. I also though the guy that sang "Hot Child in the City" was a woman for most of my life.

That reminds me, I found another station I can live with, 94.1... old school jamz, yo!  I like 104.5, the classic rock station, but sometimes they get a little too old fogey for even me.  I used to listen to the perfect station.  They played "70's, 80's, and today".  And then the millenium came and it was "80's, 90's, and today" and frankly most of the stuff from the late nineties and today that gets the most radio play makes me a-gag-gag.  Maybe, all this time it was Smash Mouth's fault.  Them and Blink 182, I guess.

There are soooo many bands from the late 70's-80's that get no play except on college stations - Killing Joke, Ultravox, Visage, and Oingo Boingo all come to mind because I bring discs to play at work and people go apeshit over them wanting to konw who the new band is.

For morning rush hour classics, I like the Misfits or the Ramones.  Nice short fast songs to keep my break-in-traffic jackrabbit edge.

Even the Sirius 80 station I like... all they play is stuff considered to be an iconic hit.  That means Cheap Trick's "The Flame" and "When Doves Cry" and the same Phil Collins/Genesis stuff is on constant rotation.  Not that I don't like that sort of music, but the 80's had more stuff.  Play some of that.

That's one of my other gripes with radio, especially stations specializing in playing more modern stuff: it's usually the same shit in continous rotation.  John Mayer sucks ass, I don't need to hear him every damn ninety minutes.  I shouldn't even know who he is.  And I don't need to hear Rob Thomas all the time either.  You don't want to be lonely no more, yeah I get it.  The grammar alone kills me, nevermind the actual song.

For the longest time I thought the line "Like you do your girlfriends" was actually "and let me do your girlfriends." in that Rob Thomas song. Which would explain why he was so lonely.

Announcement:

I hate Gwen Steffani now. I'm about to holla back at her with a rocket launcher.

From what I've heard she uses a bunch of Japanee dancers and pretends she's Japanese. "Sugoi, Mya-chan's outfit is sooo kawaii, he he.." makes me want to destroy.

The local rock station has been playing a lot of Ted Nugent, might be because he's having a concert coming up, which I'm not going to because I'm broke and I don't like them THAT much.

Cat Scratch Fever.. duh duh duh...
Cat Scratch Fever... duh duh duh...
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

omg, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt... love.  Gwen Stefani solo artist.... blah.  "Rich Girl" blah.  "Cool" blah.  Kinda a shame since I like the stuff going on in the background.... if they could just remove her voice, the dumb visuals, and the corny lyrics...

Ah. You did call Napoleon Dynamite "retarded" or something to that effect. But still, I guess not.

You know, I've only had sex with one Scorpio before. She was enough to make me wish I had spent time looking for more.  :)

Hmmmm, now you've got me trying to remember:

4 Geminis, though my girlfriend had such a strong Libra ascendant she almost doesn't count

3 Cancerians

1 Pisces

1 Leo (not myself)

1 Sagittarius

1 Taurus

2 Scorpios

I was actually the least impressed by the Scorpio guy.  :P
