Downloaded Hard Corps the other day. It's basically Contra for modern consoles, but somehow it's just not that fun.

I know Hard Corps Uprising is supposed to be Contra, but it sure doesn't feel like it. The last great Contra game in my opinion was Shattered Soldier on the PS2. A lot of people complain about the lack of weapon drops -- you can freely cycle through three predetermined weapons instead -- but Shattered Soldier is just all around awesome.

I rather liked them both immensely, but NSMBWii did feel a bit stagnant and boring in some parts. It did have a few excellent levels like the one where you're moving upward in a castle as Bullet Bills are coming from all directions.

It's called New Super Mario Bros. It was for the DS. There is Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS which is a completely different game. This game is a sequel to New Super Mario Bros for the DS.
