Yeah, I can see that now. Always wondered why he totally sapazed out and only in the zord footage no less.  Although I do think Tommy should have constantly been grabbing Kimberly's boob. That would have been entertaining.

Well I'm about up to episode 27 of DiaRanger. It's into that boring filler stage where we got our 6th Ranger and are now just killing time till the final fight.

But in the meantime...I thought that there couldn't be any other show I liked as much as ZyuRanger, but that was before I saw Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. This show is AWESOME. I had heard about it some, but people said the words "Pirate Themed" and I was a whole lot of meh. I didn't like the Pirate fad even when it was hot, let alone now on it's downturn. Then I started hearing stuff about these Rangers being able to turn into Rangers from all 34 previous teams by using special keys...now that sounded much cooler. So I gave it a try.

Glad I did too this show is great! The Pirate thing really doesn't come into play all that much actually. I mean they have pirate themed costumes and mechs, but it is really all about using past teams powers. And they do cool things like they'll all change into a past team...or they'll all change into one color rangers from the past. It is really a lot of fun. Plus all the characters a pretty likeable...well except Joe is who is plain as hell. Eh..I'm only up to episode 7, he might get better. Captain Marvelous on the other hand is the shit! By far my favorite Ranger ever...be it in Sentai or Power Ranger...BEST. EVER. PERIOD.

Although I have to say that my glowing review is from someone that has watched Super Sentai and Power Rangers. So if you've never seen any of that stuff you might not find it as great as I do.

Dude. They're pirating the abilities of previous Rangers!

Eh...I mean maybe you can say that, but they were GIVEN those powers by the spirit of the Red Ranger. So I don't really see that as pirating as much. Well at least Marvelous was given those powers...I don't know how the others came to part of his crew yet. Not that far into the series. I see more the pirate thing as they are only earth doing what they are doing to get this Ultimate Treasure...so they are just in it for the money. In order to do that they have to unlock all 34 of the Ranger team Grand Powers...and in order to do that they have to somehow find what it was to be that Ranger team. So they end up doing good....but not for the right reason. Course I'm sure that the Ultimate Treasure will end being Teamwork and using that to defend mankind or some other bullshit like that.

Ok...so I finished DiaRanger. Kinda depressing at the end and a lot of unanswered questions and a real surreal finish. But it is the first Sentai I've ever watch from start to finish.

I'm also up to 19 on GoKiager, as well as the movie Super Sentai 199 Heroes.  So far this Sentai has been the best of what I've seen. I have enjoyed ever single episode, and that is not usually the case. By this point there is usually at least one stinker, but not this series.

Other Sentai I've watched are 1-6 of Denji Sentai MegaRanger (adapted in Power Rangers in Space),  1-3 of Mirai Sentai TimeRanger (PR: Time Force), and 1-3 of GouGou Sentai Boukenger(PR Operation Overdrive).

MegaRanger is alright, TimeRanger so far hasn't been as good as Time Force, and Boukenger is pretty suck. Of Course, it could get better...maybe...hopefully.

I've been watching various Doctor Who episodes on streaming.  Or Sons of Anarchy seasons 1-4 when I don't feel like paying attention.  I was watching season 5 of that as it came out along with Rupaul's All Stars Drag Race.  I began each one all pumped up but dumped them both in the end due to horrid series structure for the latter and lackluster progress for the former.

Re: Sons - Rant Incoming...

I know various people (meaning the other people who watch the show, not the characters) want Clay and Tig to die for the shit they've done and caused but Ron Perlman and Kim Coates are actually the best parts of the show right now.  Everyone is being super idiotic and/or just plain unlikeable.  They hyped up this Damon Pope asshat just to get rid of him so easily.  Juice has been a crybaby for two seasons now.  Nero has completely fucked up his life due to Gemma's magic pussy.  Gemma nearly kills her grandkids when she spent the last four seasons ready to throw herselves on swords over them.  Tara has become snottier and stupider with each passing season.  Yeah, Tara, let's give the guy on deathrow a cross he can easily use as a weapon.  That shit made sense.  Opie died for what reason again?  Jax used to do bad things to accomplish something good.  In the past seasons, he saved his girlfriend, his son, his mother, his best friend... he didn't accomplish shit this season other than get them out of the cartel mess which doesn't come out as anything good because the cartel never felt like the threat or game changer it should've been.  Yeah, he saved Tig but like Tig said, Pope could've offed him right away and then what?  Jax didn't care if Tig died or not.  It was about Pope before it was ever about Tig.

/End rant.

tl;dr  With its 5th season, Sons of Anarchy's shelf-life is showing.

I don't particularly want Clay or Tig to die.
The way Jax is going I have a feeling we're heading for a The Shield-esque finale tho.

And with that I mean that as a viewer you've been rooting the whole time for a main character who's basically an extremely violent criminal but you're forgiving because he seems to act out of honorable motives.
I got a feeling that illusion will be yanked away at the end

That illusion shouldn't be messed with though because the whole "seems to act out of honorable motives" is an important part of his character.  In a show about a bunch of villains, he's supposed to be the less "villainy" one.  It's what drives multiple conflicts in the story.  All messing with that dynamic did was make me not care as much about the main character anymore because it makes him the same as everyone else in the club so you can root for any of them now because it doesn't make a difference.  And since it doesn't make a difference, that means I have no reason to care or watch anymore because everyone's on equal footing.  Care care care difference same because.  This all made much more sense in my head.

I dunno, I mean The Shield was based on much the same premises but that was pretty effectively turned on its head by the end. When the final season started I wanted Shane to die and Mackey to get away with all the shit he had pulled. When the show ended I got exactly that, but the way it happened I wished it happened the other way around.
I see something similar coming up for SoA

I meant to mention, going back to Doctor Who, it took me a few episodes before I could unsee the 10th Doctor as Barty Crouch Jr.  I didn't even recognize him at first, I just thought he looked creepy for some reason.  And Merla was all "Barty Crouch Jr.!  Ew!"  So yeah.  Also, I really liked Destro What's-his-name as the 9th Doctor.  But he is the first doctor I've seen.  Right now, I've been skipping between him and the 10th Doctor.  And I have yet to see the other Doctor Who material available on streaming of which there is lots and lots.  Also, I was reading the Russell Davies offered the role of the 9th Doctor to Hugh Grant.  Meh.  I'm just picturing that guy holding a sonic screwdriver and stuttering away.

That's kinda funny because I was talking to a friend about Tennant and what else other then Doctor Who he has done. I and was like "He was Barty Crouch Jr. That was a pretty big movie there." and of course he had never seen any of the Harry Potter movies, or at least hasn't seen any he'll admit to.

But the 10th is my fav so far, but the 11th is pretty awesome too. And then there is Amy Pond...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Amy Pond...who is much better looking then Rose. I, however, did not care much for the 9th Doctor, but I did like him as Destro. Rest of Rise of Cobra was shit though.

More GoKaiger...up to episode 30 now. Still awesome. Although there is too much filler in this thing. They have to get 34 Sentai Grand Powers. There are 50 episodes in a season. That's enough for each grand powet to get it's own episode and have some left over..instead we get a lot of filler and then they get a bunch of powers at once without much work to get them. Like they got a bunch from the 199 movie from old sentais nodding at them? And then when Gokai Silver joined he already had three. Small compliant, but still...

Watched some of Bioman too...it is...well it was made in 1980 and it shows. Thing seems like it is edited by someone with ADD too.

Oh and this is for aDam. Grown ups in Spandex has subbed the entire run of ZyuRanger.

http://www.grownupsinspandex.com/forums/1992-zyuranger-%5Bcompleted%5D-35/kyouryuu-sentai-zyuranger-%5Bdownload-page%5D-47/

So I'm also watching that from where TV-Ninhon left off at 20.

Watched some Matt Smith Dr. Who.  I thought I might not like him but he's a good chap.  Kinda weird though.  Like even weirder than 10th who was definetely weirder than 9th, so there's this progression of weirdyness.

I recall liking DS9 but I never kept up with it after the first few seasons.  I remember being surprised when I tuned in one time and saw Michael Dorn was part of the cast.  I girl-crushed on Jadzia Dax, so annoyed when she "died".  Did like Sisko though even though I couldn't consider him my favorite captain since I didn't even realize he got promoted until a long time later.  So I saw later eps but... yeah.

Fuck, I forgot all about that silliness.

I also am rather fond of Dax.

I FUCKING HATE KIRA
Seriously, it's not as bad as my hate for Troi, but holy fuck Kira annoys the shit out of me. I HAVE TO HATE CARDASSIANS BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH I WAS PART OF THE BLAH BLAH RESISTANCE BLAH BLAH. All she does is make the Cardassians that show up in the series more interesting. I really fucking wish this had been Ro Laren instead.

Seriously, when she was a sort-of-prisoner of the Bajoran rebels, I hoped she would die.

EDIT: I also wished this during the episode before it, when she rescued POWs from Cardassia 4.

The following is based on my viewing of all of TNG and the first two seasons of DS9, which was no longer shown in my area at that point

Both the Bajoran mains bugged me...Kira and Ro were douchebags. If they were representative of their people, the Federation should have let Cardassia keep the friggin' planet. Conversely, the Cardassians were lots of fun.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Did I mention her how I felt the only good thing about Kira is how much more interesting the Cardassians seem compared to her?

I mostly liked Ro, until the end, at least.

I rate the revival Doctor Who (9th to 11th doctors) primary companions as follows.

1. Donna Noble - She was a funny, awesome ginger who added the best real-world perspective to shit.  I miss her.  And how she was written out of the series.  Argh.  As they say on tumblr: my FEEEEELSS.
2. Rose Tyler - Not so much for her character as much as the chemistry she had with 9 and 10.  I think she meshed better with her Doctors than Martha and Amy.
3. Martha Jones - I like her on her own better than I like Rose but I think the character suffered having to crush on the Doctor after Rose.  And this whole "Imma doctor so blah blah" haughty attitude she'd sometimes have reminded me of everything I don't like about real non-Doctor Who doctors.
4. Amy Pond - She's a cute girl but that accent kills me in a bad way sometimes.  However, what really gets me is how Mary Sue she comes off to me.  When she appears, suddenly everything revolves around her: the girl who waited with the crack on her wall and who gives birth to Melody Pond who blah blah blah.  She almost takes over the narrative from the Doctor at times and I'm all "nooo, I watch for the Doctor".  Also, she's paired up with pathetic Rory, who I just want to smack in the face with a cinderblock.  Just that look on his face makes me want to smack him.  He doesn't even have to say anything.

The End.

For a local anime club's last meeting of the year they showed the last two episodes of Korra. And having never seen the series before I had no idea what was going on but caught on with most of it. And I agree with the conversation 4 pages back... the ending felt rushed and cheap. And having Korra lose her bending might have made for interesting story had they continued with a second season (and maybe even had Amon pop up, alive again, for revenge), but then Aang's all like "Jesus lol" and gives her powers back.

Also, one character, I think the firebender general Iroh, had the most annoying voice actor ever. His voice sounded way too young for his character. Ugh!
And lightning = firebending?????
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

lol, maybe they should just call themselves an animation club and officially expand their horizons.  Funny tho', Merla and I were just talking about how jarring younger Iroh's voice was.  I mean, the guy's in his thirties and all so he's old enough to play him but he just sounds too young.  And the previous series already made a lot of people associate that actor's voice with a 16-year-old boy.  Don't just pop the same voice on a grown-ass man.
