I'll be honest, I can't even remember what happened in X, I just recall being pissed off about it for some reason.

Might have just been in a bad mood when I watched it.

The moose joke was awesome

Wow, I just read plot synopses for each of the episodes from X, and only two of them seemed even vaguely familiar. Did they meet Jesus Christ in one of them?

I heard it was absolutely blacktastic in response to last year's kerfuffle.

Who actually watches that circle jerk?
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yeah, I think it was obvious pandering and most of the whitey voters wanted La La Land for Best Picture.  I think that whole "flub" was on purpose and their shitty way of rebelling.  (Shitty for the people behind Moonlight anyway.)  Still, it's a circle jerk like Squirrel said so there's no loss by having the awards go to more black people than last year.  Hopefully it'll be more diverse next year.  And if anyone deserves the title Oscar Winner by their name, it's Viola Davis.  Schmoo was all happy for Casey Affleck.  Fuck Casey Affleck.  He was bound to win an Oscar just for having the name Affleck.  All he's had to do as far as his career's concerned was to not fuck up.

I have seen precious few of the Oscar nominees over the past 38 years of my existence. So it's largely irrelevant to me. I remember being sad that ET didn't win best picture, so maybe I'm just an embittered little four year-old inside.

The Best Animated Picture category needs to be utterly abolished.  It's bullshit.  It might as well be called "What the Academy members took their kids to this year."

Here's the problem with the televised Oscars: the modern internet has rendered it utterly irrelevant. Back in the day, the only time you'd ever see celebrities was when they were performing, or when they were promoting their performances on talk shows. Now with twitter and just social media in general we have constant access to all of their most inane bullshit, and the mystery and glamour of these people has been completely washed away.

Who really gives a fuck about watching them walk single file to their seats so that they can pat each other on the back? It's banal and facile.

It'd be nice to see an awards show focused on honoring the people actually involved with the craft.  The people who don't have a hundred million social media likes.  And learning where they came from, what they did to get a film made, how long they worked and what they personally sacrificed.  But that's not as interesting to the masses as Emma Stone's hot ass so whatever.

Merla was watching some PBS thingy on Netflix about Ötzi the Iceman, so I sat down and watched a bit.

I also watched Miraculous the weekend before my flu (or whatever it was/is) hit me.  It's a cute little show but I need Ladybug and Cat Noir to find out each other's identities already.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Season 11 Episode 1.

The show I have to illegally download, despite the fact that I gave the Kickstarter 70 bucks because they put it on Netflix.

Yes...yes it is. Up to episode 3 and it is the one that feels the most like the old show. Ep2 wasn't great, despite the Pearl/Bobo/Brain Guy cameo.

'kay, got something to put on my list for when I have quiet Netflix time to actually hear what's being said.  Along with Into the Badlands, which I've been meaning to start.  Actually watched a bit of that on Easter, too.

Finished Iron Fist. I didn't think it was that bad. Had some slow spots, sure, but it's not like it turned into a total schlockfest in its second half like Luke Cage. But then again I'm one of the white devils, so don't take my word for it.

Started iZombie. Been meaning to watch this forever and I finally managed to get into it. I remember reading the comic, but this seems to be a pretty loose take. Turned it into a procedural drama because of course they did. I don't know. Seems okay so far.

Waiting for Riverdale to complete its first season so I can binge.

Is the fighting as sloppy as all the clips make it look?  I don't get why they didn't at LEAST get a martial artist for this.  Really, I wished they had casted Lewis Tan or Jon Foo and played the half-white angle.  BUT... at the very least, why not a Matt Mullins type of guy?  There's tons of white dude martial artists.  White guys love martial arts, right?  If you're not gonna invest in giving your lead guy Matrix-style martial arts training before filming, at least hire a real one who's already done the training on his own.

I was thinking about possibly trying this but the word "procedural" just killed any interest I might've have.

The fights in Iron Fist are all over the place. Some are pretty good, others are just awful. Also, it's obvious the lead didn't do a lot of the moves, the reason I say this is a ton of action scenes are shot in very low light, or he just happens to be wearing a hoodie, pulled up of course. There are so many moments when you can see it's clearly not him. Like, what? Super lame.

I had to double chell to make sure I actually knew what procedural refers to. Ha! Yeah, at the beginning of every episode someone turns up dead, and by the end they've caught the killer. I mean, there's other shit going on, but the investigation is the meat of the show.

Marathoned a lot of My Cat From Hell and there was this one episode with a fat 20 lb cat.  That host-dude Jackson was all "oh, hey, he's pretty Catundro.  What does he eat?"  And the family's all "doughnuts, cheeseburgers, etc." and proceed to rattle off all of these horrible human foods.  And Jackson was all "here's a piece of meat, fatty" and the giant cat was all "harumph, whatev."  So they brought the cat a big ol' glazed doughnut and the cat was all "HELLO, FRIEND!" and proceeds to eat it.  Holy cow.

I hated that show ever since I watched one where some chick's cat went mental when her boyfriend moved in, and her take on it was, if you can't get along with my cat you're out of here. Insanity. I had to admit that I was kind of with the cat whispering Montgomery Solarsystem: the cat wasn't really the problem there.

The big problem with Jackson's show is that they hype up the drama.  A lot of the episodes will have someone saying "It's either the cat or me" or "This might mean a divorce" or other bs the show doesn't really need.  Even when Jackson goes in to ask questions like "Is Bonr the cat behaving?" there'll be dramatic music, a too-long pause, and the camera will jump from the cat owner to Jackson and then back to the cat owner who smirks and goes "yes."  Ugh.  I wish it wouldn't do that shit but this is the current tv climate.  The better cat behavior show is Pam Johnson-Bennett's Psycho Kitty but that one only has a single season of 13 eps, which is a pity.

I think the season finale Agents of SHIELD will be this week, and Flash's will be next week. Flash has been draggy but picked up of late, so I'm hoping the penultimate season show holds up to snuff. Now, SHIELD has ebbed and flowed this year (this season has actually been better than its ever been, to be honest, as it never set the woods on fire for me), but I quit watching it back in March due to time constraints. After catching up on it over the weekend, it turned out pretty good, so I'm looking forward to the last season ep where I wasn't a week ago.

Finally saw Into the Badlands.  Or at least Season One on Netflix.  It's not bad but whoever's writing some of the dialogue is writing it for retards.  Characters say things that aren't necessary to say.  Like Bad Guy grabs his head and hisses, so the viewer knows he's getting these mysterious headaches that are bad news.  No sooner does the viewer digest this when another character comes in "Oh, another headache?  This is bad."  Like no shit it's bad.  Anyone with half a brain already came to that conclusion.  We don't need the second character to come in and state the obvious.  So, just sort of overly hand-holdy stuff when it's not getting corny.  The character of MK, the younger man that's a co-lead character in this show, kinda waffles between seeming like an audience surrogate to feeling like a too-special OC in a weird fanfic.  I guess 4 out of 5.  Still entertained me on a boring Sunday afternoon.  Will watch more.

New Twin Peaks stuff. It's much more Lynchian than the original Twin Peaks was, which of course might be a good or a bad thing depending on your POV.

I watched episodes 1 and 2, didn't realize 3 and 4 were also available. Getting those now.

I really liked what I saw, despite having only a passing familiarity with the original. I grabbed all of that as well to tide me over while I wait for more new stuff.
