There's something pure about the old cartoons. They're all just as good today as they were back then. They will always be good.

Every revival they've ever attempted becomes dated almost immediately. It might have been okay when it first came on, but you can never go back to it.

I get that being older will alter my perception of a show or movie.  At the same time, there are lots of older shows and movies that still retain entertainment value.  I consider that to be aging well.  Not a cartoon, but the Muppet Movie has aged pretty damn well.  It's no less a product of its era but I can sit and watch it with the same level of enjoyment I did as a child.  Jem aged nicely as well.  That actually surprised me, but it has.  Daria, too.  The first three seasons or so still amuse me and the Daria/Tom eps still infuriate me like they did 15/16 whatever years ago.

Re: Looney Tunes, they actually did make an attempt the flesh out the characters more but Daffy and Porky were probably the ones who came out the better for it.  Porky even went through a growth arc where he's in a steady job, loses his job, struggles to keep his house, and loses his house over the course of several episodes.  Bugs didn't seem to go through much of anything.  He was just there, with whatever problem that plagued him being solved within the same episode it came up in.  Lola, they tried to make funny by making her stupid and crazy but I only found her funny when they played her on Daffy or Porky.  Or anyone but Bugs really.  Also, Petunia should've been added to the show much sooner.

Speaking of Muppets, did anyone attempt to watch the new show last week?

It can't be killed soon enough.

Also, He-Man was mentioned. Watching He-Man now is hilarious to me. Still entertaining, but for different reasons.

I don't watch regular TV anymore so I didn't.  If it had been good, I'd probably wait for it on Netflix or something.  But then I encountered opinions echoing this one: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/tv-and-radio-reviews/11883190/The-Muppets-ABC-review.html  Can't say I'm interested in watching ever now.

Oh, and I watched Hand of God on Amazon.  What a mess.  I love Ron Perlman and Dana Delany.  How do you mess up that killer combination?  Amazon found a way.  It was a snorefest.

Ha ha.  Same here.  My thing was always She-Ra anyway.  I liked She-Ra better than He-Man.  Bravestarr, too.  They still have entertainment value imo.  Sure, I'm not gonna sit and watch with the same attention I did as a kid but they're nice to play in the background while I'm surfing or doing chores.  Thundercats though.. yeesh.  No.

I can just watch Hey Arnold all day long

I haven't seen an ep of Hey Arnold in years.  I wonder how that one's held up.  I never liked Doug though.  Arnold was cool but Doug needed a couple of tight slaps.

Batman animated series will stand forever as a timeless piece of television programming. There aren't that many regular TV shows that are better than this.

It's been a while, but I have nothing but fond memories of B:TAS. I can't speak for the show in its entirety, but those early episodes were certainly very mature in their presentation, especially for the time.

Oh, crap, I forgot SHIELD started yesterday. I'll have to run it down. I dropped Gotham, much to my brother's dismay...he doesn't have anyone to speak geek to anymore since his boys started college. I quit around episode 18 last year and haven't regretted it. Looking forward to Flash and Arrow next week.

Ditto on all of this.  Also, Catwoman was hot before her unfortunate bout of anorexia.

Season four had some good stories, but the art just went to pot.

A lot of the female characters were already same-facey to begin with but in the new pointy style, it becomes all the more jarring.  The women also got really strangely proportioned with huge heads and those up-sloped, perky chichis I can only imagine Bruce Timm must jerk off to furiously.

Has anyone watched Be Cool Scooby-Doo? It kind of looks like a Seth MacFarlane show, which is probably intentional because they're touting it as a comedy.

It looks like it could be okay, but the art style just seems so wrong.

I watched the first episode last night. It's not bad, but if they're really aiming for funny, they need more gags. I thought maybe they would forego some of the series staples to cram more setup/punchline jokes in, but nope, there was the logic-defying musical interlude chase scene right on schedule.

I'll probably stick with it for now.

Real glad Flash is back on, even if the season premiere was weak. I'll see Arrow when I get home from work and the range.

If Be Cool, Scooby Do is the one I'm thinking of, all the characters are screwed up in the way they act.

Just finished Jessica Jones. It was pretty good. Has pacing problems. Was kinda a rinse and repeater. Kilgrave get captured, Kilgrave escapes, Jessica comes up with new plane to catch him...repeat. And the show was always better when Mike Coulter's Luke Cage was in it. Makes me look forward to his show. Most distracting thing was Krysten Ritter's plastic looking nose in the close up shots.

I saw two episodes of Longmire.  In the second episode, his female deputy or whatever proceeded to dance on a stripper pole and be a cocktease to get information on a potential suspect.  It really soured me to the point where I'm not sure I'll continue with the series.  It's a silly thing, but I don't care to see shit like that.  Especially it being done by the only female deputy.  It doesn't help that at the end of the same episode, another deputy is porking Longmire's daughter.  It was revealed at the ending like some sort of twist but it came off soapy and I don't want soapy.  It's too bad, because I like Longmire himself.  And the show also has Lou Diamond Phillips, too.  Maybe I'll try another episode sometime, but I just as soon rather look for something else instead.

I watched some show called Warrior Women hosted by Lucy Lawless.  I wish DC would just scrap all of their crap and reboot their universe with a WW movie starring Lucy Lawless.  She'd be boss.  She could still pull it off.

The girlfriend is slamming through GOT. She's on season 5 after like two weeks. So, not watching much else than that while she's catching up.

Try as I may to get through that, I never could.  I watched a clip here and there but it never hooked me.  (It doesn't help that I'm getting annoyed at having Got shoved into a lot of things.)  I did read on some of the plot points.  I'm not opposed to picking up the books in the future.  Have you read any of the books?

Lawd is Legends of Tomorrow a shitty show.

What makes it shit?  Do you watch Flash and Arrow?  I think I recall you watch Arrow but I'm not sure about Flash.  It ties into those, right?

You should be watching The Flash. Which reminds me that I'm in a similar thing with GOT. I don't watch it or Walking Dead and that's what people talk about at work, and I don't really have any desire to watch either.

What makes it shit?  Do you watch Flash and Arrow?  I think I recall you watch Arrow but I'm not sure about Flash.  It ties into those, right?

It's connected in that it reuses a hodge-podge of folks who started out in those shows but never became core characters. Now, Flash has its weak points, but the show's still enjoyable and generally pretty good. Arrow has great and terrible moments but finds itself falling into the good to decent area. This one just doesn't have any strong suit.

The main character (Rip Hunter) is an inept douchebag, the villain (Vandal Savage) is a rehashed, defeated villain from a Flash/Arrow crossover (not to mention rewritten from the comics), and the story basically consists of them finding him in different years and fighting him and losing every time, only to find out SPOILER ALERT he's been pre-ordained to win by Rip's Time Master bosses to beat back a Thanagarian invasion. And, now that its been revealed that it'll be a different arrangement of main characters in the next season, so why invest yourself in them? SPOILER ALERTOne of the better characters, Captain Cold, was just killed off for a stupid reason, which makes his re-occurrence as Flash's arch enemy problematic.. Not to mention that Hawkman and Hawkgirl are the most dysfunctional bullshit couples in comics and continue the trend in this show. Ray Palmer/Atom is still a mish-mash of Ted Kord and Tony Stark they couldn't figure out from Arrow. Firestorm is a mouthy black kid (though he's one of the few to actually show growth and be a decent character) and know-it-all elderly white guy (the same annoying old fart he was in Flash) odd couple. White Canary is still the whiny-looking face fucker upper from Arrow. I like Captain Cold and Heatwave (who, despite them screwing with his character in this show, is still entertaining), but I liked them better as Flash villains.

I did enjoy the Jonah Hex episode, however. But then again I like me some Jonah Hex (unless you count that last movie...ugh).
