Just for shits & grins....
« on: Nov 01, 2004, 11:51:38 AM »
Many of us have voiced the numerous reasons why we're pro-Kerry.  Anyone on the other side wiling to share the reasoning behind their choice?

This is not meant to blast anyone for his/her choice. I'm asking because I've gotten one of three answers from Bush supporters IRL:

1) He lives in Texas

2) My/our church told me/us to.  (My sister & her husband are in this category)

3) Never change leaders in the middle of a war.  (Who thought this strategy up??)

The only answer I've gotten even vaguely adressing any of the issues was regarding abortion from a church-mandated voter.

I get the impression Faye thinks Bush is cuter than Kerry, but beyond that, I don't know.  :P

I've heard the last one too, about him being cuter than Kerry.

The main thing I hear is, "Oh, Kerry doesn't know where he stands.  He's a flip flopper." or about raising taxes.

That's really about it.  Those, or his pro-choice stance.

1) reason enough not to vote for him. That and he isn't a true texan anyways, just a poser playing cowboy. And when have cowboys been good leaders? Never, they lost the civil war.

2) Well Bush is NOT a Christian. No politician could be, since the idea of politics undermines the very meaning of Christ. And his wife has killed.

3) We do if we are losing. Look at Vietnam!

And Bush can't ban abortion. He can make it illegal, but that just means more women will get hurt while doing it.

Fuck Sam and his blind faith.

"As I mentioned, as many of you know, that I quit drinking alcohol in 1986. And it was the right decision for me to make then." GW Bush

1988 - "You f***ing son of a b***h. I saw what you wrote. We're not going to forget this." A drunken George W., storming into a Mexican diner in Dallas, and approaching Al Hunt (Wall Street Journal editor). Al was dining with his wife and 4 year old son, when Dubya interrupted cursing for several minutes in front of everyone.

August 29, 1992 - Caught on tape, George was carelessly pounding 'em down, boozing it up? YES! I have it here!

Yeah, voting against lowering taxes is so bad, isn't it?

that is true :D

the most important thing for me would be that abortion thing, and i just think, in general, that no one will ever be 100% satisfied wirh the president chosen. like for example if kerry gets elected, after 1 year everybody will start to bitch about how useless he is, etc, etc, the same way they are doing with bush. that aaaalways happens everywhere

I'm for Bush, but not because he's a good president.
I'm not an American so American interests aren't my first concern and the only thing that affects me about US politics are their foreign politics. That said I'll explain why I hope Bush wins. In my view Europe has been way too dependent on the US over the past decades, especially since the fall of the Soviet Union there hasn't been a clear need for it. And in a world where the powet balance is rapidly changing in the favor of the great countries in the Far East; China, India, but also due to the current oil-crisis, Russia, it is more important then ever that the European nations start walking their own way again. That is if they still want to have a say in the world of tomorrow. Unfortunately, before Bush, no European nation even questioned the logic of blindly following in the US footsteps no matter what. Bush changed all that with his constant bullying and threatening of the European nations, and actively seeking to undermine their interest everywhere in the world. Now many European nations are slowly awakening to the fact that it is time to rely on ourselves again and follow their own instincts.
But if Kerry gets elected we'll all rush back to the US again, which I won't predict will be in our interest in the coming decades. Four more years of Bush should get us emancipated.

That doesn't make any sense. Europe has been the center of the world for roughly the entirity of civilization.

No, they haven't. Europe was the center within the last 100 years. Asian and Meso-American civilizations held greater civilizations for a very long time. Only since the 1600s to WW2 did Europe really hold anything.

Ya huh. Gheghis Khan and the Mongols, The various Chinese Empires, The Persian Empires, and not to mention the Aztecs and Mayans commanded much greater lands and population than Europe.

Forget that other flash. It kinda sucks.

Jib Jab has a brand new flash. Click on "It's good to be in DC"

Yeah saw that one already, the previous one was funnier.

Anyway with another muslim shooting another prominent Dutchman today, I doubt we're gonna get much coverage of the US election.
Damn I need to emigrate to Australia soon....

I heard about that. He was a movie maker who berated Islam because of the way they treat their women.

The Michael Moore of the Netherlands?
