I has an ear infection.
« on: Sep 01, 2009, 07:58:51 AM »
My theory is that another ear with an STD came and had sex with my ear while I slept.  I believe this theory valid.  And I only had to wait 5 1/2 hours for some Indian guy to look into my ears for two seconds and tell me this.

I've never had an ear infection so I do not understand your pain, I've had maybe something stuck up there and fell out, I think I blew an eardrum once at a GWAR concert when i was 15, but it got better I think. People tell me I mumble sometimes, but usually it's because I'm more talking to myself and not the person I'm supposed to be talking to.
So yea, I stopped going to concerts so I don't feel like I have trouble hearing anymore, and people that wear earbuds I hate with a passion because they always ask me to repeat myself.
If you lose your hearing you should get a hug plastic cone to carry around and hold up to your head for when we all need a good laugh.
I'm sleepy. You're nice.

Luckily it's not painful (or at least it didn't reach a painful stage).  It's this irritation.  I haven't been able to sleep with my head to the side.  I have to face ahead.

Re: Ear buds.  I've think I screwed up my hearing since I loved to blast music, even with headphones.  I never use buds and I when I use headphones, I usually stick a wad of cotton in there first to help buffer the sound.  Anyway, gross story time:

I don't remember if I mentioned this already but too bad, here's a rerun.  Back in like, 2005 I think, I got a taste of deafness.  Suddenly, I wasn't able to hear out of one ear.  It was a pain in the ass.  People would be on that side and start talking, and I'd be all "Uh, other ear please" and it never sank in.  I'd ask them to repeat themselves and they'd get all angry.  Dude, I'M the one who can't hear.  So, yeah, I was panicking.  "It's happened, I've gone deaf!"  I ended up going to a clinic to get it looked at and the guy's all "You're not deaf, it's a giant ball of wax."  He got it out with this water irrigation thingy and it looked like a freakin' alien.  I have no idea how in the world THAT much wax could have compacted in my ear.

A cone sounds fun.

Just shoot some Vagisil in there, It'll be fine.

I have a little trouble hearing myself. Although it seems to selective. Like if someone mumbles when when they talk, I can't understand them. So I end up asking "what?" a lot. But anyone that talks normal and clear I can hear just fine. And I am rather loud when I talk too, I think that has to due with me not being able to hear as well.

Nurse Jakcie had a horrifying scene where this guy came in with ear problems. When a nurse looked in, he freaked. Three nurses to remove a spider from the patient's ear.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

I got a chunk of ear plug stuck in my ear... it was painful like you wouldn't believe to remove it. They stuck tools in my ear and it felt like they were ripping my eardrum out. Why oh why are there so many fucking pain nerves in your ear canal?

I also was having some problem hearing, the doctor checked my ears during a routine inspection, and couldn't see my eardrums. Such a huge ball of brown-tan wax came out of each, like the size of a fricking peanut.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I have difficulty understanding what I'm hearing sometimes.  I hear them just fine; I just don't understand them unless I read their lips or think about it a second.  Sometimes they have to repeat.  I have no idea what any of this amounts to, though...I've made it over thirty years so far, so I figure I'll make it.

I had an ear infection once. I cannot imagine a pain worse than this horror. This is a reason as good as any to believe there is no God.

I got on a plane with an ear infection once and simultaneously got that condition where the pressure won't leave your ear when you land.

The pain was so intense I threw up and was running around while laying on the floor, trying to grind my ear into the carpet ala homer simpson.

I was 11 when this happened.

Now I would just walk it off.

I can not possibly wish to imagine this, nor would I ever wish to even pretend to have such horrible, horrible pains.

I don't remember exactly what it felt like.

I think it was like someone taking a drumstick and jabbing it into your ear, but imagine your ear drum is made of cartoon rubber that stretches in excruciating pain as it tries to prevent the stick from penetrating your brain.

Something like that.

The topic hurts way more than my ear does.

Re: Rama/Squirrel and not hearing people
I find this happens a lot with TV.  Many times certain people will speak and I can hear them just fine, but other people come on I need to turn volume up or put subtitles.  I just figured that some people are just naturally easier to hear than others.

I watch CC or subs most of the time, just to be sure not to miss anything.

I do this, too, because most shows have ridiculously loud sound effects or music while they're dialogue is recorded at a low level. STUPID FUCKERS.

Word. I always call those "Loud/Quiet" shows/movies. I turn the sound way up to hear them talking then have to quickly turn them down with anything exciting happens.

Its really bad because I still live with my folks (sad I know) and I'm pretty sure they're hearing is going away slowly. Also, I think this sound differential somehow gets worse when watching Netflix. I've seen them go from 40 to 90 because of this odd recording abnormality.

Or what about movies on tv with "low dialogue/louder sound effects/deafening commercial breaks"?

I actually try to mute it before the commercial comes out.  If I know it's a long break, I go to the bathroom and will myself to pee.

I  knew someone that did that. And it is sound in princple, but they always had the remote and then alway got distracted and thus, the show would come back on and you'd have to yell at them to unmute it.

Course my method of channel surfing sometimes backfires when my commercial timing is off.

I just download the teevee shows, and the uploader has already edited out commercials for me. Watching actual teevee is such a hassle as I cant bring myself to buy a remote...
