Coincidentally, the EE is what got me into the whole thing. I never saw the theatrical version of Fellowship...I saw my brother's copy of it right before Two Towers came out. After TTT pissed me off (due to having no start or end), I bought the combined books and read them over the course of a week, eventually reading most of the early stuff.

I only saw the movies because Kary wanted to see the second on a date. The next christmas, I bought the extended edition and showed all three to my brother. He loved it.

Well I guess they guy I showed it to was just a fucking moron then. He was of the South Park opinion: These movies are about walking around a lot.

I did read the Silmarillion before reading Children of Hurin, however, I'm not sure if I remembered anything from the former when I read the latter, but I'm absolutely sure I had a good time.

It's a mythology book, not an adventure book. I think anyone reading it thinking it'd be Lord of the Rings would be alerted to this by the first story.

He gave up I think near the end of Two Towers. I showed him all the battle scenes though, he liked those.

Two Towers was the one I had a hard time with, not for the movie itself, but the fact there was no start or end. ROTK was fine except for the crappy way it ended, and ended, and ended, and ended again.

My friend who didn't like these movies somehow ending up watching the end (I guess its after a battle or something) and he said just that.

In that episode Quagmire tells Peter of his latest sexual adventure as if to confess, and Peter tells him that his religion doesn't forbid sex. And then Quagmire says that he's telling EVERYONE about it.

And it got me thinking about starting my own church of a fictional character. the Church of Quagmire... for anyone who's a pervert, horny, likes bad sexual humor, or just really really appreciates hot chicks.

So of course IDE would be one of the head priests.
