Portman shits up anything she is in. The weakest part of V for Vendetta, weakest part of Your Highness (which is saying a lot because that whole movie was shit.), weakest part of The Professional, not the weakest part of Mars Attacks, but that was the script and directing, but after that...weakest, and a tie for Hayden as the weakest part of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Dude have you seen Closer? if you havent, watch it. By far my favorite movie ever and she kills it.

Finally finished watching Oblivion. Good movie but so predictable. I was calling their shit up 10 seconds before it happened, for the whole movie (husband had watched already so I wasnt spoiling it to him)

Maybe she should've put on her Black Swan get-up and done a little dance.

Done a little dance means stripping it all and going lesbian with Mila Kunis, right? And with Mila being the dom/man, right?
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Agree.  I liked her in the Black Swan but I think a lot of actresses could've fit the the parts she plays.  She's never struck me as being anyone special.

I have never seen Black Swan or Closer...maybe she is better in those, but to me it's like watching cardboard act.

And for the pete's sake stop putting her in thongs in movies...she doesn't have the ass for that.

I know. I haven't seen the movie, but people couldn't stop talking about it and posting screen grabs of it back when it happened. She also sported one in Your Highness and she looked good in neither.

Yeah, "cardboard" was what was mostly required of her for Black Swan.

I liked Black Swan. it had scary parts. I do not like the guy who plays the teacher tho. Why do people think of him as a sex symbol? he looks like he was born with some disability

Huh. Give him some white facepaint, ruby lips, and green hair, and you can finally forget Heath Ledger.

This is Spinal Tap.
Can you believe I actually thought Spinal Tap was a real band ages ago? You can? Nevermind then.

If I were to give this a score out of 10 stars... I'd have to give it an 11.

Seriously, though, I'd probably give it a 6 out of 10.
It had its funny moments, but it wasn't like it was a side-splitting laugh-a-thon from beginning to end. Maybe people's tastes in humor have changed or maybe that's just the way 80s comedy films were. In any case it was an okay movie.

Thor: The Dark World

This one wasn't too bad but I'm debating whether or not it's better than the first. In terms of scope, definitely. And Hemidall is still badass.
First off, the dark elves and their leader. While looking rather... creepy with the white marble masks on, they just didn't feel that threatening. It was obvious the majority of the dark elves were defeated/killed by Odin's dad, so why exactly is this tiny little band of elves a threat? And they're able to break through Asguard's defenses? Really?
The main villain was too generic and one dimensional. So he's from the realm before the big bang and he wants to destroy the universe so existence will go back to darkness before the big bang..... and? AND? Who gives a shit? Really. Yea, the villains in this movie seemed to be there JUST so Thor would have something to pound with his "hammer". Badass looking but boring.

As for the nine realms thing and the convergence thing, that was pretty dull as well. You're lead on to think it's this awesome event, when all that happens is 9 tiny little portals appear in the sky over London. Really? REALLY? Some stupid fucking portals? I mean, I fully expected you to be able to see the shadows of 9 planets floating over the Earth or something. Not some stupid fucking portals. Bleh. And don't give me this "budget" thing, it's Marvel, they don't HAVE a budget. They could have easily made 9 CG planets.

I was also quite confused at why the old scientist guy had become so nutty. Yea, I get that he had the tessaract and loki in his brain in the Avengers, but having him run around naked? Bleh. At least it added comic relief.

And then Loki. Easily the best acting job in the entire movie. He is a fun character to watch. Loved the Captain America nod. When something bad happens to him later in the movie, I was like "Well maybe now the fangirls will shut the fuck up.... oh, nevermind." I have to admit that I saw Loki's scheme a mile away... no, not the bit where he chops the hand off, but the one way after that. I knew who Odin was at the end before it was revealed. But, again, the fangirls kinda ruin Loki for me.

The ending was a bit anti-climatic, but that I already ranted about in the convergence rant above.

That being said it was a fun movie that was at least as good as the first. Go ahead and see it in theaters, just don't bother with 3D, I heard the 3D in this one sucks.

The Wolverine. Started slow but was fun anyway. Wasn't the shnikt-fest I thought it would be.

I also saw The Wolverine. It was a hell of a lot better then Origins, still flawed...but better. The setting in Japan did a lot to win me over too.

Happy Feet 2. I was at the gym and it started on tv. At the beginning I was laughing at the absurdity, I mean its a fucking movie about fucking pinguins dancing, come ON. And one of the pinguins is voiced by Pink. Its so absurd. But then...but then Robin Williams started talking as the latino pinguin and I was in love. Fucking hilarious.

Machete Kills
LOVED IT. Whoever thought of putting Charlie Sheen, Im sorry, Carlos Estevez as the president was a genius

I saw Hobbit 2 yesterday. Overall: a very pretty bastardization of the book.

I feel the same way about this movie as I did the Two Towers. I disliked TTT because it had no beginning or end. But that was the nature of being the second part of a three part series. This movie, however, fared worse: there was nothing at the start to tie it to the first one (aside from the "chance meeting" that started the quest), and the ending was a total cut-off cliffhanger.

Half the stuff in-between was made up out of whole cloth (pretty much everything dealing with the wood elves, the budding "romance" there, the dwarves being left behind, almost the entire Smaug encounter), and what was drawn from the book was mangled (Beorn is just thrown in for five minutes and barely a blip, Bard and the story of Dale, the scenario in Dul Guldur which inexplicably has Radagast in there). I hate being that guy who nitpicks, but you can tell they really struggled to draw this thing out for three films. I mean, they had Gandalf and Radagast going to the tomb of the Witch King, which I don't remember actually being told in the LOTR appendices. And it was a wasted moment, since they didn't really explain what they were doing (you can gather it from context) and did little to nothing there.

Miscellaneous thoughts:
I will say that the return of elf-fu was fun to watch and done better, obviously, than it was with LOTR given the advances in CGI. This is despite it having been totally made up for the purposes of stretching out the movie.
I always thought the mere mention of Radagast in the original books was a waste...at least Tolkien gave him a name, as opposed to the blue wizards. So I'm not so bothered by them giving him more of a role, even if I could do without the bird poop all over him.
They treated Beorn and the sojourn at his house as just a quick relief. He had only a few minutes of screen time. He was probably seen more in bear form than as a man. Gandalf plays him up as a disinterested bad-ass, but there was no sequence regarding the arrival of dwarves.
Bombur never fell into the water of Mirkwood and went unconscious, either. And the Mirkwood elves are more sullen dickheads than merry d-bags. Less wise and more dangerous, indeed. Thranduil was a real asshole, and so was Legolas.
This thing was mighty violent for a movie based on a children's book. There were corpses everywhere, and the heads flew all over the place. Also, I hope you're not an arachnophile, because they were brutalized.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I saw Desolation of Smaug. IT was pretty. Lots of unnecessary elven additions, but it was mostly entertaining.

This is an interesting perspective from a budding screenwriter about why so many films these days have to be overly epic. http://io9.com/why-so-many-movies-seem-so-much-the-same-1489291670?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow

In the last week Ive watched Mononoke Hime at least 15 times. At least. Why, do you ask? My daughter has been on vacation (THANKGODTOMORROWISBACKTOSCHOOL) and shes been sick for the last week, and coincidentally last Monday she watched that movie for the first time, and since then she has been watching it, or not even watching it she likes to have it as a background noise, ALL DAY. She calls it "Kokokoke Hime".

Could be much worse. I was sitting with my cousin's sick children this weekend and all they wanted to watch was Adventure Time or something. The animation was shitty.

R.I.P.D.- This movie bombed and it deserved too. It was shit....seems like they got enough big star that they thought they didn't need a script worth a shit. Terrible movie.

The World's End- Funny...but it is just Shaun of the Dead, with Alien Robots instead of Zombies....oh and 10 bars instead of 1.

Barbarella- There are not enough drugs in the world to make this movie make sense. But BOOBS! and maybe some bush....

The Lone Ranger- this one hurt. Because it could have been good, but they went in weird ways and Tonto was kinda the star instead of the Lone Ranger. It is just sad because they got the Rangers origin so close, but then put in strange stuff like a guy eating another dude's heart which then played NO PART in the rest of the story. Ugh. It could have been great.

Homie of course Tonto was the star. The Depp would accept nothing less than being the main character especially if he's paying for most of it.

Im going to watch the Desolation of Smaug today. Unfortunately I can't watch it on 3D because the movie starts too late (around 8pm in all the cinemas in HCMC) so Id be home by 11 and thats too late for the maid :( So Ill have to settle with 2D :'( But..is it even worth it to watch it in 2d? i can just go and buy it for 50 cents around the corner and have a 2d experience at home.....shit man
