Word to the weird! Taken was really good; if you get a crack at it, take it.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.  It's a tradition.  And then we watch it again around Christmas.

Man, did I ever dislike Machete. The first ten to fifteen minutes were amazing, everything after that was just awful.

Your statement is impossible because the guy selling ice cream from a cart at the end of the battle is definitely the best part of the movie.

I saw The Punisher.  The '04 one.  By "saw", I mean I let it play in the background for about five minutes although that shit-accent Thomas Jane tried to put on told me what kind of stale ball of cheese this was gonna be already.  So I skipped forward through the damn thing and read a Wikipedia summary so I could know kinda what the fuck was going on.  It took like thirty minutes for his family to die.  Get to the fuckin' point.  He punishes people because they kill his family, why did it take that long?  UGH.  Was I supposed to feel sorry for the bad guy at the end?  Say what you will about John Travolta but that bitch can act and entertain in whatever pile of crap he's in.  Thomas Jane was a wet piece of cardboard.

The Thomas Jane movie was based on Ennis' first storyline, "Welcome Back, Frank". Thank you, Hollywood creative license. Not having a mob-stress being mauled and quartered by an irate polar bear just ain't the same.

I did like the movie after that one with Ray Stevinson or whatever his name is.

Never read Welcome Back Frank, only read the Max run.
Can't read a Punisher story if there isn't a lot of swearing and gore in it. And a guy ending up with his balls in a paper cup of course

"Welcome Back, Frank" was the first run by Ennis and Dillon. It was "welcome back" because it was the first Punisher story since Marvel killed him off sometime before. I only read it because it was Ennis, whose Hitman title is my all-time favorite comic.

And this was the best scene from WBF:

It was ok....I can see why people where pissed at this thing though. This thing was clearly meant to be a direct prequel to Alien and was probably so right before they started shooting. I mean it really seemed they just went through the script and just replaced words like "Eggs" with "Vases" and "LV-426" with "LV-223" then rewrote the last five pages of the script. "Oh...another ship. How deus ex machina of you." I think people would have been a lot happier if they had just left this a direct prequel to Alien like it was clearly intended to be.

I'm reading some shitty fantasy book by M.R. Mathias called the Sword and the Dragon. It's pretty generic fantasy trope, but damnit I'm still enjoying it. I like the bad guy wizard a lot. He's a pretty swell dude, and there's this guy who has a bird as a familiar / animal companion and might have magic. Also, there was a previous wizard like this kid that people called Dahg Mahn. which translates to Dog Man. Because his familiar / animal companion was a wolf. This humors me.

To explain why I'm reading, because his books are cheap on Kindle.

Ha ha, I was thinking the same thing.

Also, there was a previous wizard like this kid that people called Dahg Mahn. which translates to Dog Man.

It translates from... uh..., Jamaican?  "He's a dahg, mon!"

Nothing about the film makes it inconsistent with being a direct prequel to Alien aside from the size of the Space Jockeys which is really a non issue.

Spoilers.........

The Space Jockey from Alien was sitting in the pilots seat when they discovered it...this one was in the life raft. IE: in order for this to be a direct prequel the dead Space Jockey would have to get up....walk back to she ship, put his helmet back on and then sit back down in his seat.
