I hadn't seen this movie since the 80's when it was made and I forgot how much I liked this movie.

I also miss the film stock they used in the early 80's for movies. It gave a pleasing look to the movies that is missing these days where the film is a little too crisp and clear.

A buddy invited some friends over to watch all the movies in order to get ready for Avengers. Out of those Iron Man 2 is clearly the most weak. It has major problem, but after seeing Thor and Captain America it isn't as bad because of all the ties you see to those two movies, plus Hulk. But it is more fun cause it is like a scavenger hunt. The movie and story didn't really improve any. Just kinda fun.

I keep going back and forth with Thor or Cap being the best. Iron Man in a solid third, then Hulk and then Iron Man 2.

For me its iron man 1, 2, hulk, cap and then thor.
Hulk gets a few extra points cause its actually a character I like, but thor was by far the weakest movie of the bunch imo

I forgot to mention this, but at this party one of my friends other guests started making racist jokes whenever the "Ten Rings" guys from Iron Man were on screen. And if that wasn't bad enough, he was making fun of the wrong race. Let me explain. When the terrorist would be on screen he would makes jokes about them working at 7 Eleven and saying stuff like "Thank you! Come again" and I just about said "They are Middle Eastern, not Indian you fucking moron!" but I was a guest, and so I didn't say it. What was worse is he thought that the reason that no one laughed was because he didn't say it loud enough, and thus repeated the jokes at a louder volume.

Later he confirmed his idiot status by saying he thought that 3D was here to stay. Thankfully he left about half way through Thor. I don't think he liked me very much, because he said bye to everyone but me, but I was fine with that because I didn't care much for him either.

I liked Terrance Howard so much more. I just couldn't get behind Cheadle in that role at all. War Machine was cool looking, but I just would have rather had Howard. And I could have done without Mickey Rourke completely. Also didn't help that despite the whips, that guy was more like Crimson Dynamo then Whiplash. Don't know why they just didn't make it Crimson Dynamo. Guy ends up in a suit of armor that he built, using an arc reactor he also built...so they could have been interchangeable. There was no reason it HAD to be Whiplash.

Whiplash was terrible. I would have rather seen a War Machine movie starring Terrence Howard honestly than dumb Iron Man 2.

And the villain in the Princess and the Frog was a black guy. I get not liking other things about the movie because it wasn't perfect by any means, but what's wrong with a movie starring an ethnic cast? We're not gonna run out of white & white-looking cartoon characters anytime soon.

I didn't think Dr. Facilier looked Puerto Rican in the least. He looked like an exaggerated version of the very black Keith David, who provided his voice.

Frog Princess looked really nice, and there were some decent songs, but I've never been a fan of stuff set during that period, and overall the story and characters were a little weak. I know I've mentioned this somewhere before, but the way the villain basically defeats himself was a total anticlimax, although his comeuppance was pretty terrific.

Tangled is CG, and it kicks the shit out of Frog Princess. Also, everyone in Tangled is blessedly Caucasian. Amen.

I watched Safe tonight. For a Statham flick, it was a little bland. It had its fair share of action, but there was a distinct lack of focused martial artistry and elaborate fight choreography. After his stunning display of chair kata in Killer Elite, I was expecting something flashier. And I felt completely robbed by the final confrontation.

After that I went to The Raven, which was kind of a snooze. The entire plot revolved around discovering the identity of the killer, and when they finally revealed who it was, I was just like, "Huh? Really? That's it?" John Cusack is in full-on Nic Cage emulation mode here, which leads to a lot of audience laughter at inappropriate moments. Definitely not worth the price of admission.

Saw the Avengers yesterday and I actually cried a few times during the movie. Seeing all of those character just talking to each other was really just fucking mind blowing. Joss just fucking nails it. Marvel should just skip CAptain America 2 and Thor 2 and just make Avengers movies. It's going to be really hard waiting for Avengers 2 and if Joss isn't involved they should even bother.

I also saw Avengers...and I think I'm in the minority in that I wasn't totally blown away, geekgasim, I needed a smoke after watching this movie. Now, before you jump down my throat I want to say I loved the movie. It really is something I have wanted to see since I was 12 and it didn't disappoint. My problem seems to be more with Whedon. I have never liked the stuff he did. Buffy, Firefly, Dollhouse, I didn't like any of it. I think he is a good writer (although there are times it could be better), but I don't like him as director.

That and I didn't get the post credits (or mid credits in this case. I loved the post credit, but it didn't set anything up.) that I wanted. But eh...

The crime here is if they don't green light another Hulk movie. People were going crazy for Hulk. I've never been in a theater where people cheered and clapped. They did it during this movie twice and both times it was for something Hulk did.

Yeah, but that's because Hulk was sharing screen time with everyone else. They used him sparingly, and whenever he actually did something, it mattered. There was weight to his actions.

When you do an entire movie about Hulk, it becomes diluted to the point that he's just another action hero, and you stop appreciating him for what he really is.

I think all of these characters work better in bite-size doses, complimenting one another. That's why it's going to be really tough for any of their subsequent solo outings to generate the same kind of fervor as The Avengers.

Like Toe said, I don't give a shit about seeing another Thor, or another Captain America, or even another Iron Man, which is already a sure thing. What kind of bullshit contrivances will they have to come up with to explain why these guys aren't calling in their bros for backup?

I liked the movie but I'm kind of lukewarm on it. It's on par with Thor and a bit better than Iron Man 2. Good characterisations for sure, but the epic action scene was a poor man's Transformers 3.

The Hulk was great in this. It was a better Hulk movie than the two other full Hulk movies were, which was lame. It would have been nice to get some explanation for Banner's ability to control the Hulk beyond "I'm always angry". Wait, what does that mean Bruce? Should we be killing you now? Bruce?

Big annoyances ... Hawkeye is a bitch. He can't nail a shot with a gun to save his life. He is a Storm Trooper caliber marksman whenever he's shooting at good guys.

Dogding things with a plane? We're still doing this?

I don't think I agree about the Hulk. I think what has hurt him in both movies, is that both movies where so serious and such downers. It is all about "Oh my daddy beat me and killed my mom" or "Oh this is such a curse and I can never let this out." And people just can't get behind something like that. In this you had that at first, but later on in the movie it wasn't like that, and that was when people were liking the Hulk. People don't like Hulk the unstoppable monster that will smash anything that happens to be in front him. They do like Hulk that smashes bad guys and saves other people.

And I can't wait to see the other solo movies. One of the best parts about this movie was the build up to it, without those solo movies to build it up again you won't have that. I think the reason this movie has been such a huge success is the anticipation of it. I wouldn't want them to take that way by fast tracking a sequel to this. Slapping it out there like it just like another Transformers sequel. Get it out there and make as much money as possible before people wise up. I'd rather them expand the universe even more, maybe even with the success of this green light some other super hero movies that then can be brought into Avengers like the long rumored Black Panther movie.

On the Avengers movie it's self. I actually don't think it is a better film then Iron Man, Thor, or Captain America. But it is a more fun film and that mainly has to do with the fact that all these guys are on screen at the same time. I do feel Thor got shafted a little in the humor and time on screen dept. But the rest where pretty balanced and had good interactions with each other.
