I haven't watched any new (as in the theather- new) movie since I left Vietnam. Paying around 14 bucks per movie now while in Nam I used to pay 2 dollars seems like an atrocity. I will definitely go to see Eva 3.0+1.0 when it finally comes out in June tho. And maybe the last Live action Rurouni Kenshin that is coming out pretty  soon.

ACTUALLY I just remembered that I watched the last St*r WarzzZZ movie when I was in Germany during the Xmas holidays. That movie was super good (re: fighting scenes, cant give a shit about the whole SW universe inconsistencies tho, and that last scene between Kylo and Rey? wtf man). I would still bang tf out of Adam Driver and his BD energy.

Yeah, I heard about that. And then Warner had venues change the title from Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn to just Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey because they thought moviegoers were confused or something? Nah, guys. People didn't go because they're still scraping the horrible taste of Suicide Squad off their tongues. Doomed from the start.

Ah well.

I think there was some good logic to this decision, as far as name recognition. The listing mostly only had "Birds of Prey" because the full title is super fucking long. Harley Quinn is the main thing here, so while the full title is fine, they should have done this for showtimes to begin with. It isn't the only reason the movie didn't do well but I think it's a factor.

The prior name was super dumb and probably turned off a bunch of people. Also, ...don't care about BoP without Oracle.

Watched Kubo and the Two Strings. The animation is incredible but I couldn't help but thinking throughout about how white the cast is. Matthew fucking McConaughey as a samurai? Ugh. But the animation was so fucking good, and the story is decent.

Name recognition trumps white washing. Money money money.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I found that movie really bland but it served to entertain me for a while. Way more than the god-awful Box Trolls.

Saw Onward and Toy Story 4. TS4 was fine, not great. Onward was actually pretty good and I cried when the brother was talking about his dad being hooked up to tubes and wires.

Artemis Fowl? MORE LIKE FOUL ARTEMIS AMIRITE?!?!?! :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

After years of hearing and reading about Hamilton this, Hamilton that, I finally experienced Hamilton for myself.

And at first, I was like, "Man, this is it? I knew I wouldn't like this sh..." but then King George shows up and I was riveted for the rest of it.

Also, the Thomas Jefferson dude is ridiculous. Steals every scene he's in.

I still haven't seen Hamilton. I don't have Disney+ nor plans to get it so likely won't see this rendition either.

I didn't know the Artemis Fowl film was out. (On Disney+ but still...) Too bad it's a turkey. Artemis Fowl had potential to be a fun and interesting film series. I just don't get this whole " let's snap up the rights to something and then middle-finger its built-in fanbase" mindset of the industry.

Daveed Diggs is great, he's in the Snowpiercer series and it's one of only two things tempting me to watch it (the other being it's loose connection to the film). I was really into Hamilton early on, and it is a really good production, but I'm just not that into it anymore. Wife was really excited to watch it but about 30 mins in I was distracted by my phone again. Jonathan Groff's performance as King George was fantastic, and maybe some of the best in the show (Groff is also Kristoff+Sven and Jesse on Glee). I hadn't seen it on stage or anything, and honestly what surprised me the most was how little people moved around in some of the songs. I expected a lot more movement. Then some songs they did incredible things with the moving stage (concentric circles that can rotate, but not all of them have to move at the same time) which was really impressive.

Wife was on a bit of a kick of an 80-90s action flick run. Terminator, Die Hard, Kindergarten Cop. She couldn't stand Robocop, though. Too gory early on, before the hook of the story even gets in.

I think Sonic is the last thing I saw in the theater. It's a sad thought.

Theaters are trying to get going again around here. I could go see Tenet or New Mutants this week, if I so choose to brave the 'rona.

The seating plans are fucking hilarious, have you seen them? Man, I cracked up hard when I was looking to buy tickets online.

Watch Hayop Ka, which being touted as the Philippines first adult animated film or something. It was decent. It's only on Phillipines and Japan Netflix but someone slapped it on YouTube.

And because I keep seeing this asked, there's not outright pr0n in the film or something. It's just a cartoony version of a story you'd see in soap opera. There's sex scenes but they're not a big deal.

Gretel & Hansel is pretty good. Beth from It is the main character, didn't know that going in. Thought it might be distracting, but nah, she was alright.

Tenet is a lot better than I thought it would be, but also so self-serious that it crawls all the way up its own ass.

And then it dawns on me that that describes pretty much every Nolan film.

Every time I read Nolan talk about his films, I lose some appreciation of those films. Tenet was already in the ground before I even considered watching it.

Gintama- The Final. Loved it. I knew what was going to happen since it was exactly the same as in the last chapters of the manga, but somehow I still didn't expect the first 10 minutes to be a copy of Dragon Ball. Also it was so weird, in a cool way, seeing them walking through Kabukicho at the end of the movie and realizing that I was actually in Kabukicho and that THAT exact "kabukicho" gate in the movie was one block away  (and most of the Gintama-series are based in Kabukicho).
Now I'm salty that they canceled the release of Evangelion, yet again!

True. Tbh for me, The End of Evangelion is the real ending, these movies are just a bonus that I won't take seriously.

Watched this flick, it was pretty decent. In a parallel universe, it made a lot of bank. It certainly had potential to and was easily on par with the better offerings by Dreamworks. In this universe, however, it wasn't the product of a major studio so it didn't have that strong advertising behind it. Then a poor marketing mistake had it become "the fat-shaming Korean movie" and people pissed all over it without watching it. Pity. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Rebirth was just a cash cow to fund Anno's other pet projects. He hasn't made any bones about it, which is one reason I haven't cared much for them. That, and the third one blew massive chunks.

Milla Jovovich's Monster Hunter featuring Milla Jovovich.

Can you guess?

That's right: TRASH.

I'm crossing my fingers for a Half in the Bag, but I fear it may be below their notice.

I looked up this movie and saw Tony Jaa was in it. I totally forgot about him after he went to the monastery. He's not only left the monastery years ago, he got married and had kids. Good for him. Time flies when you don't pay attention to other people.

Watched the new Eva movie this morning (the 7am viewing was sold out so had to settle for the 8:30am lol). I was surprised it was THIS good. Perfect ending tbh, I think it might have been even better than EoE. The graphics/ CGI were out of this world! It would be a surprise if this movie doesn't get an Oscar (actually it wouldn't since Hollywood sucks ass). My boi Anno finally delivered, after 90459049 years of waiting. 10/10 will probably watch it again.

Yes if only because you see how much Kaworu's friendship impacted him and you find out why some characters were acting a "certain" way around Shinji. To be honest I didn't even re-watch 3.0 before watching this last one because it bored the hell out of me, so I just read a synopsis just to remember the key points.

After watching WandaVision, my wife brought up the movie Inkheart (also has Paul Bettany but also Brendan Fraser). It's not "good" but is a lot of fun.
