"Crisp Rat."  I can't stand him either.  I hate his smug face and I don't want him near any animals ever again.

I had to run to the john in the middle of the movie, during which time I seem to have missed the part that explained why Drax was so "in your face" with the laughing and joking. While funny I felt it was out of place, and I've since read reviews that mentioned a certain Drax/Mantis moment, and I just don't remember seeing it.

Guess I should just load up and see it again! And not drink anything beforehand!

This! This exact thing! All I can think of is that it's that scene where they're sitting in a circle and she's reading them all, and when Drax asks to be next, and he's laughing at Peter and Mantis touches him, I thought she was laughing too, but maybe she was weeping? She says something, and I didn't catch it, so maybe she wasn't actually laughing? I don't know.

You two sound like my brother. He doesn't like the guy, either, and he won't see the movie for that reason if none other. And he's like that about a lot of stuff...when I ask why he poo-poo's shows or movies with people he doesn't like, it's either because of how they look or they were in something else he didn't like or they're a bad person or whatever. It'd be one thing if it was just an occasional thing, but it's like half of everything is that way. And I don't get it.

See, I don't particularly care about the actors or any of the other staff as long as they play their part and put out good work. Celebrity is meaningless to me: generally speaking, I don't care what they do so long as it doesn't pertain to me or isn't some egregious failing. There are a few world-class turds out there I won't patronize by watching in a movie or TV show, but they're very few and far between. Hell, if I just went by what I thought of them personally based on political issues alone, I'd do multiple mag dumps in all my AV hardware and never go to a movie again. That doesn't even get into those who kick puppies or screw babies or don't recycle or whatever other reasons I might have to not like them.

In Chris Pratt's case I'd never heard of him before the first Guardians movie, and I haven't seen anything else he's been in, either. I just know I like the Guardians movies, and he hasn't detracted from them at all in my estimation.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I get what you're saying but I actually watched the first Guardians and didn't care for it.  While Crispy Rat was a detraction, my failure to be entertained by that movie doesn't all go on his shoulders by any means.  I mean, I couldn't even sit through Captain America Civil War and that one was Crisp Ratless.

Same.

The reason I cant watch guardians 1) i dont care about the theme/anything about it 2) that guy as main guy doesnt help. But its not 100% because of that guy, although I understand my post made it sound like it.

I hate Tea Leoni and yet I think Deep Impact was good.

For the first time ever, the wife watched Alien, Aliens, and Blade Runner (Final Cut). Fun times. I remember preferring Aliens to Alien when I was younger but at this point, I'm not sure what I was thinking.

I have never watched Blade Runner from start to finish. I've probably seen the entire movie in snippets, which is probably why I never cared for it.

Kind of like Usual Suspects. I watched it with some of my cousins late one night, and we all fell asleep midway...except I woke up in the last two minutes and thereby completely spoiled the movie for myself. I'll never watch it again.

Blade Runner is a classic, and it has some really powerful scenes, but man... is it ever boring in spots. I can totally understand that people have trouble getting through it.

They put Scott Pilgrim back on Netflix, so I watched that again even though I own it.

I love Scott Pilgrim.

Was totally gonna post this to you on FB and forgot, but she's stopping at Aliens, right?  You told her Hicks and Newt live happily ever after with Ripley and nothing else happens ever, right?

Oh, yeah, and Merla and I prefer Aliens over Alien but we'll never argue with anyone with reverse taste when it comes down to the first two movies.  Preferring anything that came afterwards is pure madness though.  I do admit Alien Resurrection became guilty pleasure of mine when I re-watched it around 2009.  I mean, we get Ripley of course and I loves me some sci-fi Katharine Parker but we also have Lydia Deetz; Top Dollar from The Crow; the Beast/Clay Morrow in space; Ding Chavez aka Ramirez from Under Siege; Mel Horowitz or one of the villains in Commando; Warrick Brown with fucken dreads; bitchy French guy playing the paraplegic who actually has quite a prolific film career but I don't know any of his other roles because they're all in French even though I've totally seen Delicatessen; random tech from Independence Day who came out in ER but I never watched ER; and the fuckin' Bedroom Killer from Ruthless People.  It was written by Joss "I'm totally a racially-aware feminist even though I'm actually kinda not" Whedon and directed by French guy who directed Delicatessen, Amelie, City of Lost Children--films I don't remember, barely enjoyed, and didn't enjoy (respectively)--and not much else.  It's like some magic goody bag filled with fun, weird junk and I can totally spaz out on it with popcorn and a quart of iced tea.

Blade Runner is a classic, and it has some really powerful scenes, but man... is it ever boring in spots. I can totally understand that people have trouble getting through it.

I recall it took me a long time to actually sit down and watch that one through.  I'd just watch certain scenes in the film--probably the same ones you're talking about--and be done with it.

Rurouni Kenshin movie #2 - Kyoto Inferno

It's been since the early 2000s since I watched Kenshin so I'm not sure how well they adapted this, but they seemed to have gotten it right. It was a decent movie though I found myself looking at my watch a little too much. My disappointment would be that Kaoru seems to be weaker in the movie, constantly being captured and needing rescuing, where in the anime she was tougher and could stand her ground. Also, at one point Sano says he's going to Kyoto to follow Kenshin, and then he just disappears for the rest of the movie before spontaneously appearing during the final battle. Like, where did you go during that time?

In the anime Saito was probably one of my favorite characters... I agree with his morals more than Kenshin's no-kill idealism. I like the actor they cast for him in the movies. Chainsmoking with one hand while cutting down bad guys with his other... can even kick ass one hand wielding.

Also, bonus points, but a friend was an extra in the movie.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

Havent read your review because I dont want to get spoiled but I just bought the three movies on DVD. Cant wait to geek the fuck out to all my old husbandos (although I already saw the guy who plays Aoshi and hes not hot at all). Ive seen the Kenshin-Soujirou fight scene on youtube and it looks fucking AMAZING.

I love all of the Alien movies. I love Ron Perlman in Alien Resurrection , also thats the first time I realized my waifu Sigourney is so tall. Hot.

Lego Batman. I would love to tell you about it, but I fell asleep halfway through. When I woke up, I rewound it and picked up at my last memory of it and fell asleep again before it was over.

What I remember of it was stupid, though.

I don't know if any of the Lego movies are meant to be retained in the memories of adults.

That Saito looks badass.  And Doug's friend looks cute.

I have no desire to ever rewatch Lego Batman, whereas I've watched Lego Movie probably half a dozen times.

Lego Batman is no Lego Movie.

The newest Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good, entertaining, and a bit funny (not as much as the first ones though). I have to say whoever cast Henry did an excellent job, the guy looks like a man version of Keira Knightley, it is amazing. The main girl in the movie is fugly tho. Now I need to watch "On Stranger Tides" since thats the only one I havent watched yet.

Btw just noticed that the world-wide title is "Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead Men Tell no Tales" but here it is " Pirates of the Caribbean- Salazar's revenge". intredasting.jpg

Also watched the second 50 Shades movie, and it is as bad as the first one. Soooo BORING, and Dakota still cannot act. Hell, they make the Twilight series look like oscar-winning movies. Dont waste your time.

Watched Logan last night. Dialog-wise it was a purely "fuck fuckity fuck-fuck mother fucker," affair...let's hear it for the R-rating! And it was much more vicerally violent than any other X-men movie...let's hear it for the R-rating! The story kind of drew you in, even if we never found out what happened to the other mutants...even if we never found out what Charles had done that was so bad to be classified as a WMD...even if we never found how how they got all the mutant DNA to experiment with....even if we never figured out the significance of Eden...even if we never saw how they made out after the big ending...and a lot of other dangling threads I'm surely missing right now.

But I thought it was pretty good at any rate.

I'm not even gonna try to sit through that thing.  I attempted to watch On Stranger Tides and bleh.  The first film was a gem and the rest are rubbish made to cash in on the franchise.  I looked that actress up and it's weird.  Like in every tenth photo she's hot and in the rest she's weird looking.  I think it's that Pillsbury Dough grin she has or something.

Wonder Woman. First half: Good. Second half: Godawful CG shitfest. I can't figure out why it's reviewing so well. It has a promising setup, but then it just completely falls apart. Disappointed.

Gal Gadot gave an excellent performance, too. No complaints there. She was wasted on this trash film.

Full disclosure, I think the Wonder Woman character has always been half-baked and is in no way on par with Batman or Superman, even though DC desperately wants us all to think so. Still, that doesn't excuse this from not rising above.

I don't want to spoil anything, but the villain is absolute dogshit. Like, "Holy fuck! What were they thinking?"-caliber dogshit. The final confrontation gives the Doomsday fight in BvS a run for its money. That shouldn't even be possible, and yet there it is.

I finally saw the rest of Captain America: Civil War.  I thought it was a steaming load of crap.  I get that "Captain America: Civil War" sounds super epic but they shouldn't have bothered.  There's too much material, too many heroes, blah blah blah.  Would've been better if they adapted the Civil War story differently and made the movie "Captain America vs. Iron Man" and somehow managed with fewer heroes until the next Avengers movie where we actually expect to see that many.  I wish they would just kill people already.  Hawkeye should've died movies ago.  Vision and Witch should've just fucked off somewhere.  Ant Man... I actually didn't have the problem with the size of his role in this film.  Spidey needed to be scaled back a wee bit but was otherwise fine.  Widow I'm tired of, but I know Marvel's not gonna touch Money-Tree Johanssen.  Panther... I mean, I liked seeing him, but there were already too many heroes.  He would've worked better without so many of the others there as well.  I really like Falcon but Hawkeye and Widow are hanging around taking scenes that should have had Falcon in them instead.  And I'm 90% sure Rhodey's up and dancing by the next time we see him.

By all means. You might even enjoy it. A lot of people seem to, for whatever reason.

I'm just pissed off because everyone said it was great, I wanted it to be great, it started out great, and then... PFFFFFFFFFFFFT.

Go ahead and post spoilers and tell us more about it.  I like reading you guy's opinions and I read spoilers 90% of the time anyway.  Just put SPOILERS and a shit-load of space, and anyone with half a brain will stop reading it if they don't want to be spoiled.  At worst, you'll spoil, like, two other people who might happen to come here a month from now and still not have seen the movie yet.

Damn thats completely the opposite of what everybody else is saying.

Finally watched Beauty and the Beast. WHo would have guessed that Hermione STILL cant act for shit. The guy who played the Prince looked like her dad,  and Luke Evans' Gaston was waayy too nice, not as much as an asshole as in the cartoon.

Effing Hollywood and their agenda, why the hell did they make Lefou gay? Who will be turned gay in the Little Mermaid live action movie? Flounder?

Flounder felt a little gay in the stage musical version I saw considering he was played by an Ellen-looking chick and totally had the hots for Ariel.  Ha ha, the Prince did look like her dad now that you mention it.  But Dan Stevens is only seven years older than Emma.  Googling him now, it's the hairstyles.  They gave him shit hairstyles that really aged him.

Maybe youre right. The hair was atrocious.
In one or two scenes at the end he looked good, but then one was a closedup and his skin looked reaaaaally bad . Like old. Maybe he went out to drink the night before or something. idk.

True but a beard would have made him look even older!

Just saw on IG " news" that said a Daria irl movie is coming out and it stars a black girl. I hope this is a f*cking joke.
