Saw John Wick and it was pretty good. Although a lot of sequel building in it, it wasn't too distracting from the flick.

Although I don't know what demo they thought was coming to this movie but I had to sit through previews for both Fast and the Furious 8 and Power Rangers.

Sounds like they played to right demo. I'm sure they want the John Wick crowd to watch those movies.

I saw the first Fast and the Furious movie years and years ago when it first came out on video or whatever. It wasn't awful but I can't say it was good either. I probably could've done other things with those two hours of my life.

They all look like the same exact thing which is fine if you like the formula. But there's no real push for me to go back and watch a bunch of cookie-cutter flicks just so I can get up to speed so as to shell out the dinero to observe the newest iteration at our local pathetic excuse for a theater.

Saw Kong: Skull Island and it was pretty awesome.

The previews were a little better too, including Blade Runner: 2049.

Saw live action Beauty and the Beast. The whole gay Le Fou thing is no fucking big deal at all. It kinda makes sense he'd be gay for Gaston and that's why he lets himself be Gaston's little bitch. The movie on the whole succeeds, but mainly because it's so close to the animated film. It's like when I saw a stage production of The Little Mermaid. Even with a few changes here and there, it's hard to fuck up a proven formula as long as you stick as close to it as possible.

Previews with it were the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid sequel (EW) and Coco (MEH).

Oh man am I pumped for Thor. That shit is right up my alley. I have no doubt this will easily be the best Thor movie, and probably even one of the better Marvel movies. Excited!

I guess it's because they release so many God damn trailers for a single movie these days, that it just makes sense for them to call the first one the teaser? I don't know. Dumb.

Yeah, the "teaser" thing was headscratchy. Like, a teaser's just a tiny bit. That trailer outlined the entire plot. It ain't no teaser.

In movie news... Josh Brolin is Cable and Jude Law will play young Dumbledore. Call me underwhelmed. Especially with the Brolin part. Yuck.

Saw Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. This was the first movie they were supposed to do in the new line of straight to video animated features, and they just got around to it.

Granted, I never read the original story...just a shade before my time, but I'd like to, since I've always enjoyed the work of both Marv Wolfman and George Perez. I mean, Crisis on Infinite Earths is the most epic thing, ever. It wasn't bad, but that the big reveal didn't have a year of build up, and you could see it coming a mile away. I do wish they'd freaking tried to imitate Perez's art to some degree...it's the same non-descript TV show look a lot of their other stuff has. Aside from a few situations and dialog choices, it's something you could watch on Cartoon Network with no problem. I wouldn't expect them to pull off his unique and iconic look, but they could have at least approximated it. But it's still recommended.

Saw Moana and the Huntsman Winter's War one. On Easter. And family were gushing about Moana and how much they loved it, but it felt so paint-by-numbers. Like someone knew all the beats and moments the story was supposed to hit but couldn't craft the story to make those moments feel genuine. I mean, she lives that close to the fucking water and never used a boat? Would've been cooler if she happened upon the cave where the old boats were (by herself, when she was much younger) and made her own custom boat. She could still be a novice sailor or whatever, but having her attempt to be more at home in the water and trying to teach herself with varying amounts of success would've been the character making strides for her own growth. Instead, it was all "I'm trying but daddy won't let me." I don't even recall anyone else on the island making attempts to stop her, it was just her dad. The fucker's gotta sleep and poop sometime. At least in The Little Mermaid, Ariel had a plausible reason for not being able to set foot on land beforehand but the water's right there for Moana. That shit doesn't work in reverse. Songs were lackluster but I did enjoy "Shiny." Would've been nice to have a main antagonist: like have the coconut guys continue to pursue Moana throughout the movie or something. For all the trouble that heart-thing supposedly brought, we didn't see that much of it. Maui was kinda annoying and at times it felt like he was trying to steal the story, but always failing to because he was too obnoxious. He probably would've made a better villain than a hero and Moana could've turned him good with her bravery or something. It would've added more tension to the story and made his change of heart at the end much stronger. I actually liked the Huntsman movie better than Moana.

Winter's War had a fried baby in it, a betrayed sister who Icemanned her lover into itty-bitty pieces, a dead/not-dead love interest, frozen dwarf pals, and "but yer all muh brothers an' sisters, muh huntsmen." These are called stakes. Moana had dead coconuts, brown plants, and no fish. That is called "me yawning." If Jemaine Clement was in Moana more, you'd have a real argument.

I'll admit Moana was kind of limp. I'm not saying it was great or anything. But man, I fucking hated Winter's War so much. That movie was just ultimate trash to me. Maybe I wouldn't feel so strongly if I hadn't paid to see it in the theater.

Okay, I'll try to same something nice about it. Um. Emily Blunt is in it. I find Emily Blunt exceedingly attractive.

I saw it for free so that probably helped. I also saw the first one and was bored by it, so expectations weren't really high. I played this movie expecting a dull piece of garbage and came out more entertained than with Moana. Hemsworth invested in a few more acting lessons, it was great to get Charlize again and in a limited dose (I was grateful they kept her trapped in the mirror most of the time because too much of her would've been a mistake), Emily Blunt was Emily Blunt, there were feisty drawf chicks, Jessica Chastain sorta phoned it in but she was still decent, and the scenery and CG couldn't get annoyingly overdone (big peeve of mine) because this was a sequel to something that wasn't Titanic to begin with so they scaled back the budget more or less appropriately. Costumes looked silly and cheap at times (especially Blunt's) but the film worked as forgettable popcorn fodder, which is all I asked of it.

Havent watched nor Im planning to. Everybody made a big deal of it over here, theaters were playing that damn movie in ALL their rooms, over and over again.
I find it hilarious that Gackt is dubbing the japanese version.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and probably the most previews I've ever seen before a movie. The showing was scheduled to start at 6:30, and the thing didn't start until 6:55.

If you've seen the first movie, you know something of what to expect, but it was much sillier (Or should that be "more silly"? Feel free to discuss). It was a lot of fun despite not having a lot in the way of plot. If you go to see it, be sure to stick around for the FIVE (5!) post-credit scenes, which were all worth seeing.

Not to mention the credits themselves were full of weirdness. I think they did it primarily to make fun of the whole post-credit thing the Marvel movies have popularized.

I had to run to the john in the middle of the movie, during which time I seem to have missed the part that explained why Drax was so "in your face" with the laughing and joking. While funny I felt it was out of place, and I've since read reviews that mentioned a certain Drax/Mantis moment, and I just don't remember seeing it.

Guess I should just load up and see it again! And not drink anything beforehand!
