So Hollyweird messed up Goosebumps and a movie with Vin Diesel wielding a sword?  Bleh.  I read a bit about Crimson Peak and I don't think I care to see it.

I saw Sha Po Lang aka Kill Zone or Kill Zone:SPL.  Really, the best parts of this movie are on the internet.  The fight between Donnie Yen and the assassin and then the ending.  It wasn't a terrible movie by any means, but not as entertaining as those two scenes were.  Donnie Yen deserved to be a bigger star over here.

Goosebumps -- If you're not a Jack Black fan, stay the heck away from this turd. He's the only entertaining part of the movie, but even he can't save it. Not even close.

Crimson Peak -- I feel like they were intentionally misleading with the promotional material for this one. It completely subverted my expectations. Definitely worth watching.

Cant stand Jack Black.
Will watch Crimson Peak soon.

So Im in Nihon and noticed they were still showing John Wick :3 Its like god decided to give me a 5th chance to watch it at the movies  #blessed

So finally watched Crimson Peak. Not a memorable movie at all. I didn't get bored but it wasn't very interesting, except for the colours which were GORGEOUS ( btw if you want a good old ghost story- movie then skip this and chell out the Lady in Black). I have to say the highlight of the whole movie was when Tom showed his ass and some gay guy behind me squealed in excitement.

Spectre -- I think I liked it. Feels a little late to be casting Christoph Waltz as your villain; he's just okay. Mostly serious business, but as far as I can tell this is the closest Craig Bond has ever come to channeling Moore Bond. Lots of borderline-goofy reality-defying shenanigans.

I also saw Spectre. And it was just kinda ok. I loved Skyfall and had high hopes for this one, but it doesn't feel in the same vein as rest of the Craig movies (even the not so great QOS), well it tried to be. There were parts that were very much Craig, but then they injected Roger Moore level wacky in there and it was jarring to have in there. I mean in the same movie we have Bond fall two stories and it saved by landing on a well placed couch, and then later on he is being tortured by having holes drilled in his head. It was to much of a shift back and forth.

Waltz was under used and not built up enough to have earned the conflict at the end. Bond seems to globe trot just to globe trot instead advancing the story. Things just happen for no reason and they don't let character building scenes go on long enough before breaking it up with the next pointless action piece (the trains sequence is the best example of this.). I mean I never got the impression that the Bond girl liked him...let alone loved him and that was because the film refused to show us that happening. I mean at this point why not just have the girl come with the room ala Moonraker. And the Sam Smith opening song was beyond awful. Made "Another Way to Die" from QOS sound like a masterpiece by comparison. At least the Gun barrel sequence is in this one.

Anyway a rather lackluster follow up to the great Skyfall.

I was not a big fan of Skyfall, but it was so much better than Quantum of Solace and reset the franchise so effectively that I enjoyed it. The Craig version of Bond is too workmanlike for my liking. I miss the charm and wit of past Bonds, if not the cheese. So putting some Moore in there is not a deterrent for me. Looking forward to seeing it.

So Im not a fan of Bond so when I went to the theatre a couple of days ago I looked at the other movies. None of them seemed interesting so as a last resort I decided for "The Last witch-hunter". Yeah give me some paranormal stuff and im good to go.
Took me less than a minute into the movie to realise fucking Vin Diesel was in it. I CANT STAND HIM. Then the female lead part was an ugly no-body, her voice was hot tho. Movie was oooook, would not go watch it again but its not cause it was bad but because of that douche.

Watched the Exorcist 3. Good movie, good sequel.

I really don't know why he has all these main characters? he's not attractive (at ALL), not funny, not super muscular. He's just huge and with a strong voice. Is that all it takes now?
I miss the good ol' days when you had to be super hot to get a main position in a movie :sighs:

Watched Salem's Lot. Been meaning to watch it since I read the book and coincidentally i found out it was its 36th anniversary some days ago!
It was good. Good ol' Hutch was on it and that was a pleasing surprise! i used to LOVE watching Starsky and Hutch. What i didn't like is that they really compacted all the characters into just a couple, but i guess you wouldn't notice unless you read the book (probably necessary cause they were a LOT of characters in the book). The vampires were scary as fuck and thats always a plus!
3 hours tho.

He did such a good job in Pitch Black but I didn't know he was a one-trick pony.  Basically, he's "good" as long as he looks cool and talks as little as possible.  Every other movie I've seen with him in it is like trying to watch a mannequin trying to act.

Oh god, and Daniel Craig.  I can't stand his old leatherbag face.  It'd be forgivable if he had some sort of charm or charisma and he has neither.  I don't think Brosnan was the best Bond but he at least had some looks, charm, and charisma.  I can forgive missing one or even two of those things if you had the third one in a huge amount.  I could deal with a leatherbag face that was a hella charming, hella talented, or had hella charisma.  DC's such a blah actor.  The shoe on my fuckin' foot is a better Bond.  His wife would be a better Bond.  There.  I'm done talking shit 'bout Daniel Craig.  For today.  Anyway, his feelings ain't hurt.  He can console himself with his huge stacks of money for being a shit Bond.

From my review of Skyfall:

Quote
One unavoidable aspect of any Bond review is the matter of Daniel Craig. I’ve heard people talk about raw sexuality and animal magnetism and stuff, but I don’t see it. It could have to do with my being neither female nor homosexual, but I can sense little charm or charisma present in the man.

Whether this is a professional failing or the fault of the director, I don’t know, as I’ve not seen him in any other capacity. With that said, I did sense some chemistry there between him and his partner at the start of the movie, and later a rapport with M herself. This inclines me to believe it’s to some degree a directorial matter. I think he did a much better job in this movie than in the previous two of making Bond have something less of a mechanical feel and a little more humanity if, sadly, none of the classic Bond swashbuckling wit.

Fact: you will see this and think either “intense” or “derp”…no middle ground.

BTW: you might want to reset stuff to a day or two ago. Something's broken.

I've seen him in Cowboys vs Aliens and Munich and that is pretty much how it acts in all his movies. Doesn't have a great range.

I've liked some of his Bond movies, mainly Casino Royale and Skyfall, but he is far from what I picture in my head as Bond... Dalton was probably the one nearest to that.

Agree with Rodent, something is broken and I cant even "quote".

Brosnan was definitely the best Bond for all the reasons you said Nuri. Daniel Craig looks too fucking weird (maybe his eyes?) and no charisma.

Saw "Unnatural". In short, its about a genetical modified bear that attacks people in Alaska. Good lord it sucked. SUCKED. Only reason I didn't walk out was because I was too lazy but it was that bad.The animatronic bear looked older than the ones from the 80s, I think it would have been much better if they would have used CGI.

ICD Soft just forced an update to PHP 5.5. The forum will have to be updated to SMF 2.0.7 or higher. My forum is fuct, too.

EDIT: I'm in the process of upgrading BONR. Already ran into problems. I am taking notes. This has only been coming for nine years....

EDIT 2: First thing first: remove all modifications before doing anything.

EDIT 3: Probably more important than killing the mods (if even necessary, TBH), if you have your server set to anything but localhost (mine was set to a special mysqlsock something or other) it will give you grief. There is an easy fix, but you have to run the repair_settings.php script from SMF to do it if you're in the middle of upgrading

Okay, I did it. My board is upgraded. Just having to find a new theme to go with it. I hate having to do it, but anyway. LMK if you need a hand. Here are the upgrade instructions.

Basically you download this file, upload it to your forum's directory through the ICDsoft control panel, and click on the file after it's finished uploading. Tell it to unzip to the folder, deselect subdirectory and tell it to overwrite existing files. Once this is done go to your browser and type in the main board url with "upgrade.php" at the end. It should ask for your login info and start getting after it. If you run into a problem with SQL syntax, upload this file, access it, and change that server to localhost and refresh the tab/page with the upgrade script running. Shouldn't have any problems after that, aside from getting the theme redone.

Cool, thanks.  I wish I had checked my board earlier so I could've gotten on top of this.  Oh, who am I kidding, I still would've put it off somehow.  But thanks.  I'll get to it when I can.  thumbsup.gif.  I typed that out because I don't know if anything I linked to would've actually appeared or not.

And omg, I always hear about Daniel Craig's "raw sexuality" and "animal magnetism."  Like, yikes.  I don't know how people see that in him.  My poo has more raw sexuality.

I've been feeling like shit so I just marathoned a bunch of feel-good movies.  Grease.  Girls Just Want To Have Fun.  Pretty in Pink.  Some Kind of Wonderful.  A few nights ago, I watched Ghost.  A lot of the ghosts in Ghost (as in the ones with speaking parts) are actual ghosts now.  Just waitin' on you, Tony Goldwyn.

Train Wreck: Funny...predictable...but funny.

Man from UNCLE: This movie was pretty good, but I love spy flicks. However, I just saw this as one big try out for Henry Cavill as the next James Bond, and it worked. That was all I could think about watching this movie. Never could buy him as Superman, but James Bond...I could see it.

I really liked The Man from UNCLE. It was one of the very few movies I went to the theater to see last year. It worked the cutesy funny thing too much, but when it worked, it worked.
