They deny giving guns to lots of shitty countries. Like Mexico (well, it got out, but they sure weren't admitting to it willingly) and about half (maybe all?) the countries in the middle east.

Vietnam wasn't lost because of North Vietnamese. It was lost because the U.S. politicos didn't want to risk an all-out war against the Communist bloc and pussy-footed around when they could (and by all rights should) have turned it up to 11. The Korean War could have gone the same way had it not been called when it was, and that peninsula could have become the proletarian paradise into which Vietnam has blossomed.
