Happy New Year's
« on: Jan 01, 2008, 07:01:30 AM »
...or whatever.  I'll be honest, I was dog-tired.  I think I might've heard some fireworks.  There was supposed to be much celebrating downtown but I wouldn't have gone if you paid me, especially since there was all of this gang shit going on yesterday.  Merla and I heard a shitload of sirens yesterday, but we had no idea what it was.  Anyway, I've been staying up all night most nights, but there's something about the fact that all of these people are still up and being noisy that makes staying up all night on New Year's Eve less appealing than it should be.

Yesterday was the last night of my antibiotics so I didn't do anything.

I played Cranium at a bar, well the downstairs cigar lounge.  Good times.
The wife forgave the mistress for she only entertained.

I was sick. So I played Halo 3 till 11 and then medicated myself for sleep. New Years Day is any other day for me.

I still don't like it for whatever suppressed reason.  I used to feel the same way about Christmas, but I have learned to deal with that better.  In the past 36 hours, I've slept about 22 of them (off and on of course).  I haven't been into anything and I've been feeling extra tired ever since the 31st.  I think things should pick up soon though.

Our friends with the Hugh Jass yard who have the water balloon battle every year had a camp out with tents, fite pits and movies on a big projection screen that threatened to blow over into the aforementioned fire pits at one point.  Tons of food & booze, which I couldn't partake of thanks to stomach flu and we don't have a tent, so we didn't stay the night.  Besides, there's an unspoken "ignore any noises coming from other tents" rule that Eddie said was more info than he needed, even if we had our own tent, and too many clowns in our neighborhood feel the New Year must be greeted with a volley of gunfire, so we wanted to get back home to the dogs anyway.  But fun while we were there; watched "Help!" (ancient Beatles movie) and some racially-inappropriate old cartoons - then they just had to put on "Muriel's Wedding", and I, curled up on the ground in a sleeping bag, started to drift off. If a mob of gay guys has to watch an Australian movie, how about "Priscilla"? Bleh.
Tortures end me,

is to love, and love in vain.

We left work at 11:30. I was invited to bring pizza to a party at a friend of a friend, but the house was a good 10-15 minutes away on a GOOD day, and that night there was a blizzard so bad visibility was 2 feet at best. And I arrived at their house one minute before the ball dropped. it must have been strange for those who didn't know me seeing some stranger run in yelling and hugging people like a stoned crazy homeless dude.

I had to drive back home in the blizzard so I did not get drunk. I always want to ring in the new year wasted and this is the second year this pleasure has been denied to me...
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

I just saw Muriel's for the first time a year or so ago and was not impressed.  I was waiting for it to get good and it just never got there.  I have yet to see Priscilla tho.
