If you're ballsy enough to spend 4 years on that godawful subject, maybe the professors might like him, though knowing the state of the Asian studies in the American South (Florida being a sole exception) I doubt any of the faculty cares enough about modern Japan to understand the concept beyond what they'll read of this.
There is a book out there about this, but it's so horribly written that I bet it's going to be his primary source.
