I have a Deviantart account!
« on: Jul 02, 2007, 08:25:07 AM »
http://ironlichstudio.deviantart.com/gallery/ And it has stuff in it!

With the closing of my local game shop I've been trying to drum up online business. Thus far, Nada, but I've had lots of time to paint my own stuff!

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

What's a Devian Tart?  :D

So do you assemble them too or you just paint them?

Lead minatures, right?  I used to help my ex with paint-a-thons until we could hardly see when he was doing Napoleonic wargaming. Nothing like stepping on one of the little fuckers in the dark after a cat has swatted it onto the hardwood floor.  :goddammit:

I was expecting art, not minatures. With enough patience anyone can do this.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

Modern anime is a stagnant cesspool of regurgitated ideas.

The art is in the subtlety of the work and and eye for color & detail.  It's the same reason people consider the paint jobs on the old San Francisco houses works of art.

Fuck off, D.

Actually these MIni's are mostly Tin-based, not lead so much Bernie.

Some I assemble. The commission work I've done are pre-assembled by the owners, and I refuse to assemble them as well, not unless they want a price increase.
I actually am probably the cheapest Commission miniature painter. I love to paint them more than actually get paid....as sad as that is.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Ah, that's right.  Stupid kids were eating the lead ones.  I think I like the undertone of tin better anyway - lead seemed to suck up a lot of paint.  The advantage to them was being able to add more detail with a dental pick.  Of course, with all the lead minatures I've handled, I'm probably due to grow a flipper or something. :alien:

These are gorgeous, Emmy.  Have you entered any contests at wargame conventions?  Good way to get your name out there for commissions.

I was expecting some other form of "real" art, like paintings or CG or pencil or sculpting. I don't exactly consider figures as a form of art (you're just painting them not sculpting them.. now if you had sculpted them..), nor did I think deviantart would allow that kind of stuff because I hear they're picky.

Also, I still remember E saying something about how I should be in prison.

So painting on a canvas is art but painting on a 3-dimensional object isn't?  Whateva.

To be accurate, I thought you HAD gone to prison due to not being around anymore, and it didn't surprise me all that much! Only someone who either hasn't tried painting, isn't very good at it, or just an outright snob wouldn't consider this artistic. Moving on.

I've actually entered one figure in a company competition, utilizing exclusively metallic paint to paint up a mecha. Don't know if I'll win, but I hope to at least get my photo in their magazine.

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.
