O FUCK YEAH. my friend from peru brought me "versailles no bara" , one of the best animes ever. This shit is like 30 years old, and has the best(and most fucked up) ending ever, only compared in its grandiosity to Cowboy Bebop's

I tried to get Eddie to watch Kyo Kara Maou a couple of weeks ago:

Eddie: I don't want to watch one of your pretty gayboy animes.

Bernie:  It's not.  It's funny.  Get us some beers and come sit down.

Comes out of the kitchen in time to see Yuri lean out the window, stare at the moon and sigh, "Conrad....".  Sets my beer down without breaking step, goes into the bedroom, and turns on the game.

I love Kyo Kara Maou, though I haven't seen past episode 35 or so. Damn this shaky wireless connection! If it weren't free, I'd complain about it or something.

I'm finally watching Stand Alone Complex for the first time. It's not bad, but I'm finding it kind of cheesy compared to the movies.

If by cheesy you meant coherent, non-pretentious, and five shades of awesome in comparison to the movies (particularly the crapfest that was Innocence), then I totally agree!

Rose of Versailles...never done in English to my knowledge.  Hopefully I'll be able to download some of it soon and get a chance to see it, given that it's often held up as one of the all-time greatest examples of anime.

Plot Summary: Raised from birth as a man, the Lady Oscar commands the palace guards at Versailles in the years before the French Revolution. Her beauty and noble spirit make her a shining figure in the eyes of both men and women but she is torn between her chosen life of service and duty to class and country and her own heart and desires. She lives as a noble amidst the opulence of Versailles but her keen senses and compassion are not blinded to the poverty of the French people.

Legends of the Galactic Heroes.
Worst title ever.
Yet strangely alluring.....

I don't want it to be easy, I want it to be right.

Claymore is most awesome but the anime ends somewhat unconcluded. They've put the series on hold to allow the manga to catch up.

Edit: Apparently I was reading the wrong damn page. Nevermind.
I like to go down to the playground and watch the kids run and jump and scream, because they don't know I'm only using blanks.

I'd rather the series be put on hold than watch filler anyway.

Have you gotten to the part with Theresa? The battles she has can only be described as legendary.

I finished it.

Now I need something else to watch...

Have you seen the code geas dub?  I think thats ichigo dub guy as lelouch or whoever and even though I only saw part of ep 2 I'm thinking that voice doesn't suit this character.  Am I right?

Lelouch has a bit of an edge to him. He's partially evil. The japanese guy who voices him has a pretty deep voice.

Season two of Geass is playing in Japan now. It doesn't have a manga to wait on.

Yeah you can kind tell this from the lines.  Why did they go with ichigo?  I think I'm going to make an unprecedented move here and actually choose the sub when the dub was available.

I've been watching Soul Eater and Kamen No Maid Guy.

I'm going to cosplay Kogarashi one day.

I've also been watching Bastard! but honestly I don't see why anyone liked it that much.  I guess the manga must be good.

Paniponi Dash:

Plot: An 11 year old MIT grad and child prodigy becomes a high school teacher for a bunch of insane students. Insanity ensues. Think Azumanga Daioh meets Excel Saga.

It was funny and crazy as all hell, and had so many cultural references of both Japan and the US even ADV's Vid Notes couldn't keep up. I actually enjoyed this show a lot with the exception of the fact that it had quite a bit of distracting fanservice in random places that wasn't there for comedic reasons. In a comedy fanservice should only be there if it's a part of the gags and humor. The most awesome thing I noticed about the series is that the main character actually changed her clothing every episode.

I recommend it.

Speed Grapher:

Plot: A famous war photographer is sent to find out information about a secret club run by the richest people in the world and occupied by corrupt politicians and famous rich people. There he finds lots of sex, drugs, and money passing under the table, as well as a secret ceremony where ordinary people are turned into powerful bio weapons based off their desires, by kissing the 15 year old daughter of the president of the company that runs the club. Our hero is turned into such a weapon by the girl, and gains the ability to destroy anything by taking a picture of it. The girl asks him to save her, and he kidnaps her in order to find out what the hell happened to him.

The original Japanese version had Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" as the intro song, which was replaced by a generic song on the US version due to license issues. Suck!

I didn't like the series quite as much as I though I would. The first few episodes seemed to hint towards something awesome, and I loved the whole anti-greed, anti-corrupt-politician, anti-big-rich-corporation, anti-weird-twisted-sexual-desires, anti-system theme. But the show stagnated in the middle with the exception of a wild twist in the middle of the series. And the ending wasn't quite as epic as I expected. I'd put it about in the middle: It didn't suck, but it wasn't awesome either.

The ending had an amusing moment. The main villain's unleashing his bio-powers, and trying to make the world bankrupt, and an unidentified English-speaking country that created the bioweapon virus in the first place is going to attack the villain's headquarters with military strikes. Even without a name you can tell the warmongering country's the USA. The dub doesn't even try to hide it - they say it's the USA and the president even sounds and acts like Bush. Thank you Japan for reminding the world how much Bush is a warmonger. :P

Edit: Oh yea, the outtakes on the last DVD were almost as funny as the ones on Beserk's last DVD, but I doubt any outtakes can beat Beserk.

I watched the first volume of Pani Poni, but it didn't grab me.  I may try it again later, as I've been pretty burnt out on anime lately.

I've finally started watching Code Geas.  It's great.

Everyone should watch Kaiji and Akagi too.

I've heard good things about that legends of the galactic heroes also.

Just downloaded something called "Now and then, Here and there" haven't watched an ep yet though.

Just finished season 1 of Code Geas.  How dare they end it on a cliff hanger like that.  Luckily they're already several eps into season 2 so I can see what happens as soon as I torrent the eps.  Then I'll be all caught up and will be watching my 3rd series as the eps come down the pipes.  My powet level is higher than ever, but I've always hidden it.

The last several episodes of Code Geass are crazy as shit. We need more series where all sorts of wild shit happens and random people die.

Starting on disk 2 of My-HiME. I love a show where shit starts being destroyed by the the first half of the first episode. But did they really have to stick those extras in between each episode loaded with an annoying excess of fanservice and nudity?

I tried a volume of Peach Girl.  It moved too slow.  I found myself fast-forwarding a bunch.  I'd still like to see more of it or at least the ending.  For now, I don't believe I'll be sticking with it.

A lot of anime has this tendency to be all exciting and action packed for the first episode or two, and then it kinda slows down, often with character development or boring filler. I was thinking my-hime would be the same, it seemed to get a little slow there for a minute.

But then we have a chick who's boyfriend dies all of a sudden.

Boy: "I love you no matter what you are, even if you're a psycho with superpowers and homicidal tendencies *choke die*"

Girl: "NOOOOO!!!! Dammit!!! You can't die a virgin! I wanted to fuck you silly and now you're dead!! Now I must kill myself and join you in the afterlife!"

Ok, it wasn't that crazy. But now it seems Mai's brother's roommate has man-boobs, half the girls on school campus are hime, and one of the school girls is an android and works for the enemy.

Crazy ass shit. I'm loving it.

It's a very good series. The last anime I enjoyed.
I said its hot outside let me go swimming in your eyes;
We been running for awhile. Why don't you lay dow, I'll make you smile.
I could never ask for nothing better than this;
It's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss.

There's a new Slayers series. I'll watch that.

Since the Bastard! anime stopped at episode six, and there's no current on-going Fist of the North Star awesomefest, I mean. My hands are tied.

I didn't even watch episode 6 of bastard! When I read the wiki that said there are no plans for more I deleted the torrent after watching up to 5 or 4.5.  I mean that's not even a half an arc.

How much fist of the northstar is there?  I never really watched the show just saw the first movie.

About 160 or so episodes if you count both series, I believe. I'm not entirely sure; I just read the manga.

Bastard! series would have gone on longer, but, y'know, what with the creator being arrested and all ...
