Started and stopped that Reincarnated as a Slime show.  Meh.  The "humor" felt weird.  I get what the jokes were supposed to be but they didn't seem to hit.  Not for me.  Moving on.

Slime has to have one of the most off-putting first episodes I've ever experienced. Maybe I would like the show? I'll never know, because of that first episode, man. Holy shit. Like, it's just this completely unnecessary info dump explaining the most rudimentary fantasy genre tropes in existence. What the fuck. They submitted their resume without a cover letter and I dropped that shit straight in the trash.

I tuned that part out, ha ha.  Literally walked away doing stuff and realized it was still explaining crap when I came back.  Also, I didn't care who this guy was, that was he still a virgin, or how he died.  He wasn't a bit likable so who cares who he was?  I also skimmed a summary and his prior identity, his virginity, nor the manner of his death seem to have any impact on anything which means it was just wasted time.  I mean, maybe it does in the source material but whatever.  They should've just started off the show with him getting stabbed and dying and then a minute later befriending the dragon as a slime.

Isekai is truly miserable. The sheer fucking glut of it absolutely boggles the mind. Isekai, you cannot disappear soon enough.

Slime picked up steam fairly quickly, but the season closed on a down note...not bad, just not as good. But anyway, the point is moot.

But I agree that it's weird how isekai comprises such a huge percentage of new shows. I looked at the next season schedule the other day, and it was like every third show.

Watched new eps of Aggretsuko. Meh. Didn't have the charm of the first season. I liked Tadano but the show felt off. Retsuko's lovelife should've been regulated to a b-plot. Snore.

Started My Hero Academia. Don't think I'll stick with it. Feels like it easily could've been a much better show. The main character is obnoxious. I get rushing ahead is heroic but where's the line between heroism and stupidity? Very, very blurred apparently. Also, I don't think it really displays heroism to rush ahead to save someone you had an emotional investment in. "That's my childhood friend." "She was nice to me." Would've been more powerful moments there to save strangers.

I also saw a few eps of Danganronpa. I mean, the death game concept with some mystery-solving is intriguing. Probably the most interesting one outta the things I watched. The whole despair thing and some of these characters... EH.

Danganronpa is so much better as an interactive experience. Anytime they turn games into anime, I feel like everything ends up feeling watered-down.

Kimetsu no Yaiba - still haven't started it. Supposed to be good.

Kenja no Mago - a.k.a. Wise Man's Grandchild, this is sort of an isekai, but only in that the guy has memories of Earth in his reincarnation on another world. I was pleased that, despite it's blatant harem appearance early on, the guy found a chick early on, settled on her, and actually got engaged. The action is fun (when it happens), the art is decent, and I like it overall...I've always enjoyed shows with over-powered MCs. They really need to develop the main club characters more and perform more world-building in the next season, which I hope will be made.

Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai - Haven't watched anything but the first episode, but it was cute. I can see it getting banal really quick, though. It's on my queue as "watch next".

One Punch Man S2 - I gave up a quarter of the way through based on my dislike of the manga at this point. Why watch stuff you already saw and thought was crap in full color animation? I may powet through it over the holiday just to say I did.

My pull list got shortened this season due to my massive server failure that I've gone on and on about for months but has thankfully been reconstituted. I reckon those two week-long work excursions to hotels with free high speed wi-fi over the past month came at the best possible time. But work in general has put a huge crimp in my free time, which is increasingly being occupied with the shooting sports...but with summer fully here, I can see a lot less 3-gun comps in the 100 degree heat/100% humidity.

Here's what I'm planning on watching this summer:

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II - YES, DanMachi FTW! If they keep going by the light novels this season will be a doozy, even if they are in the dungeon less.

Kimetsu no Yaiba - Yes, it's on-going, so I will continue to pick it up...and start watching it soon.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Kurenai Densetsu - KonoSuba movie, I'm down for it. I liked this show but frankly wondered if they were done with it.

Violet Evergarden Gaiden - I LOVED Violet Evergarden and really hope this movie is available sooner than later.

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken OVA - basically an extra episode with a manga release...looks like an excuse for showing Ogre titties. Which coincidentally I'm totally down for.

That's about it...I never make pull lists until I can see a few first episodes that I'm interested in. But since I'm already invested in those properties I went ahead and started one based on that alone.

I watched Let's Play of the first and second one and liked them much more than I expected.  I tried checking out some of the 2016 Danganronpa anime (I picked a random episode) and it was laughably bad.  Wow.  Way to have murders without any blood or bodies. I liked seeing the characters animated but the presentation was garbage.

I finished the Castlevania anime...well what they have done. I guess there is another season coming. Seems like that ended too quick and that should be done but we are going to keep going I guess.

Damn son, you totally jinxed the studio .

Haven't finished Gintama but I read the last chapters (it just officially finished a couple of weeks ago). Im very happy with how the author finished it, and Im sure everybody is. He  always said he wouldnt have a "final fantasy ending" (which is when everybody all the ships get coupled near the end). 10/10
After this I think I'll watch Great Teacher Onizuka since its only forty something eps.

GTO was pretty weak production-wise, but the acting was good across the board (I especially enjoyed the English dub, which was hampered by the fact that they only used a skeleton crew of VAs for it but made up for it by using some of the marquee talent of the time), and they had really good material to work with. That is, if you forget the last several episodes when they went anime-original to try to put a bow on a story that would continue another 14 manga volumes. Which in hindsight overstayed its welcome itself for my part, but the closing manga arc was awesome.

I actually wrote a review of it thirteen years ago. Good Lord, that's a long time ago.

Started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. I know I'm so 2000 and late on this one. I had seen a few episodes back in the day but never watched it start to finish. It's ok. Nothing amazing, but not bad either. I don't want to stop watching it, but I don't trip over myself to watch the next episode either. A lot of times I'll just have it on the background while I'm writing.

Are you watching on Netflix? I've seen a few places that the dub they have is really bad. I'm curious if it really does seem that bad.

As much of an Eva whore as I am, I haven't bothered to chell. I've been content with the original dub (warts and all) for something like twenty years now, and I have no reason to even bother to compare the two. I seriously sit down to watch it every few years or so, during which time I typically watch it subtitled as that was my first experience with it.

I started watching Be-Bop High School.  It's, like, seven OVAs or something. I've gotten through two so far. Kinda meandering but kinda funny, too.

I also tried Kenka Banchou Otome, which is just a glorified game ad and kinda dull although the characters seem promising.  I'd like to see a LP of the game but it doesn't appear to be localized.

It's.....ok.....I don't know why they messed with it, but they did. It's not something that seems SOOOOO much worse then what I saw back in the day, but it's also not 100% better either. It just is.

I'm downloading Demon Slayer and Vinland Saga but haven't started watching either despite both being acclaimed. I'm enjoying the second season of DanMachi, except I just finished reading all the light novels and am currently at least 1 season past where the anime is now. I started Cop Craft but four episodes in I just really don't care for it. I started with Dr. Stone, but three eps in I decided to back-burner it for now. Astra: Lost in Space has been freaking awesome...I watch it as soon as I have access to it every Wednesday. How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift has been a surprise...I figured it would be a cheesecake show, but it's not (unless you like sweaty muscle dudes). But turned out being more like a weightlifting sports anime educational thing, and it's turned out to be a fun little show. Tejina: Magical Sempai is weird but okay (12 minutes per ep helps me tolerate enough to keep at it), and Are You Lost? (another 12 minuter) turned out to be entertaining yet strangely ecchi. I started Fire Force but stopped after that anime studio burned down and they skipped airing it a week out of consideration of the families of the dead...which coincidentally killed the momentum I had watching it, but I'll likely pick it up later.

All told, it seems to have been one of the better seasons in a while. Too bad its winding down.

Astra is done...it has to be the best-paced, most tightly-plotted and pleasingly-ended anime of all time.

There has been so much teens in space anime over the years that I took one look at this show and said, "Nope."

But your ebullient praise has me interested. I'll try the first episode.

I fell off the anime wagon again hard this season. I think Bem was the only show that looked like anything to me, and I've only watched one episode of that.

And I've got a ton of stuff in my backlog that looks less and less appealing with each passing week.

Waiting on JoJo Part 6, whenever that may be.

I've always had problems getting into Madhouse stuff for some reason...but that dude's noggin looks like a gun I bought the other day (I have an irrational affection for revolvers), so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

First episode of NGL was solid. I will continue.

I heard they're adapting Dorohedoro. Now that could end up being something really special. Literally every character in that manga looks like they could be a new member of Slipknot.

I'll be honest...I haven't been able to force myself to watch much this season. Extreme busy-ness combined with general apathy are primary contributors despite there being some decent shows being played right now that I'm pulling but just not forcing myself to watch. The only ones I keep up with are Cautious Hero (which I find hilarious as the character is essentially me playing an RPG) and Six Deadly Sins (whose author has no sense of pacing).

I started Ascendence of a Bookworm. Nothing else. Unless you count rewatching Twelve Kingdoms.

Oh, and I watched a few eps of Dna2. I'm on mobile so too lazy to make the number two tiny and floating so that reads as "squared." It's okay. Merla was all "this is for teen boys." And I was like, "well, yes." Lots of fan service of the female characters. I think the show still retains that 90s charm about it. Not fantastic but not bad. I'll say it's "upper middle of the road." Probably why I watched the first few eps, the last one and then never picked it back up.

I finished Cautious Hero, which ended on a surprisingly serious note. It's almost guaranteed a second season given its popularity in Japan, but it makes me wonder how funny it will be given the last two episodes of this season.

Six Deadly Sins is still on-going, but at least it seems to be drawing to an actual conclusion. While it finally got some direction this go-around it's still a bit of a mind trip, and pacing is still a problem.

I'd started Food Wars, but the first few episodes were so boring with the group face-offs I decided to hold off until they conclude so I can skip through a lot of it. This season should finish it off, but it's an ongoing through Winter 2020.

I started pulling Babylon, but it inexplicably stopped at episode 7 before I began watching it. So that's on hold.

Dr. Stone began to be onerous a few episodes in...I've got the season on-hand to watch, but it just doesn't look like my cup of tea. It was standard shounen fare, but apparently very well received shounen fare.

Val x Love was my main smut pick of the season, but it turned out to be crap until the end, where the MC quit being a whiny little bitch. The manga is still on-going, so it could get a second season, but the magic 8-ball says reply hazy try again.

I've kept pulling Vinland Saga, but 3 episodes in I don't care for it. Of course, that's still in the epilogue portion, but if that's any indication as to the rest of it, it's too dour and gritty for my tastes.

Kandakowa Jet Girls was my secondary smut pick, but I quit watching after three episodes. It's a by-the-numbers sports anime with jet skis and bare boobs once per episode...in other words, bah. The butt bumping anime from a couple years ago did the same thing but better.

No Guns Life looked good, and it is big on guns which is a major passion of mine, but I haven't started it yet. Depending on how busy the new year is will determine if I even bother with it (or any of the already mentioned shows I've held back on watching).

Fire Force looked good, but again I got too busy in the early eps and let it slip. It's on my queue, but we'll see.

I pulled the first season of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes remake series, and it seems good, but I want to finish it before looking into the just wrapped up second season. It's a condensed version of the sprawling eighties-nineties series of over 100 episodes, but it was regarded as one of the all-time classic long-form anime series. Hopefully they are able to effectively put it in a nutshell so I can deal with it.
