He was beating the crap out of a fat chick this week. But he's been shown sparingly thus far, but the next episode is one will feature him with Cabba and (likely) the other Saiyans from Universe 6.

Watched the first episode of Garo Vanishing Line. Surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The art style and subject matter reminded me a lot of the kind of stuff I was into back when I was an anime fiend. I'll stick with it.

I started watching two more shows completely on accident: Net-juu no Susume and Juuni Taisen. I started dl'ing eps of Magus' Bride but haven't actually watched them yet. I did see some of Garo Vanishing Line, too. Don't know if I'll necessary continue with that one but it was entertaining.

I was wondering why the place I illegally obtain anime didn't have some of the new shows I was looking for (Magus being one of them), and then I realized that I should have been searching using the Japanese titles.

God damn it.

Yeah, I started pulling Garo. The first two episodes have been fun, but I'm hoping it's not the same as that Garo Crimson something from awhile back. I don't feel like getting half-way through the season and have call-backs to something I'll have to backtrack to understand.

As for those glorious Japanese titles...

I remember watching a live action Garo show years ago, it was basically like Kamen Rider but for a "mature" audience. Had no idea going in this would be connected to that, but they're totally the same thing.

I went to the bookstore the other day to look around and potentially pick up the Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up, which is a fictionalized account of a woman getting tidying help from Marie Kondo.  And two shelves above it was the novel** version of Juuni Taisen, so I picked that one up instead. I finished it in under a couple of hours. It's actually a very brisk read. About the length of The Kouga Ninja Scrolls (aka the story the anime Basilisk is based on). I'm kinda worried now about how they're gonna adapt the latter half of the story because the fights near the end get ridiculous. I know other people watching it didn't care for the "death of the week" style of the show but I rather like it.

** Is it novel or light novel? Light novels have illustrations, right? Juuni Taisen has them but only of a single character at the beginning of each chapter. Does that still count?

Garo has been a lot of fun thus far, but they seem to just be getting to the real story. Ancient Magus' Bride has been exceedingly slow in getting to a point, but the episodic nature of watching Chise get used to her new weird but wonderful life has been enjoyable. Food Wars S3 has moved beyond food orgasms and just gotten real now that they've ousted the school chairman with an actual villain. They've never actually had a villain before...antagonists, yes, villains, no...so it'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

Dragon Ball Super keeps draggin' (snerk) on, but it's been fun to watch the two Saiyan sisters beat on Goku. I have to admit I'd rather be watching Vegeta taking on Toppo, though. But the previews are pissing me off with how they totally spoil the next episodes. For instance, last week they mentioned the title of this week's episode was "Ghastly! Explosive Birth of a New Super Warrior!", and they showed a new Saiyan chick, which immediately made me think, okay, maybe Goku tries to teach Kale and Caulifla to do a fusion dance and merge to powet up. So, of course, Goku basically beats them with a minute left in the episode, and they put on Potara earrings for a fusion to Kafla, so the episode ended with what the preview teased. What a crock of crap! So, what's the title for next week's episode? "Goku vs Kafla! Super Saiyan Blue Beaten?!" Gee, I wonder what's going to happen next week?

The show is irritatingly inconsistent, too. The Potara earrings are extra helps brought in for the tournament and not part of their normal regalia, which is illegal in this tournament and by rule should get them AND their universe destroyed by the Great Priest. But they play fast and loose by the rules in general, like how they were showing the different forms of Super Saiyan earlier in the show but skipped SS3 because Toriyama forgot about it while writing, yet Goku shows the Saiyan girls SS3 for about ten seconds last week.

I mean, it's Dragon Ball, so you shouldn't expect tight storytelling, but it's still annoying.

I haven't watched more Garo yet and with Ancient Magus's Bride, I knew that one would be slow.  I'm kinda waiting for more episodes so I can do a binge because the whole having the wait for the next episode was a pain.  Of course, I'm comparing it to the OVA where I had to wait months for the next one but still.  I want to have a sleepy day in and binge that one.

Net-juu no Susume is saving the season for me.  I really love it.  Apparently, it's only going to be 10 eps, which makes me sad.

Juuni Taisen needs to get back to killing people but I'm pretty sure it will this week.

And, shit, didn't even know there were Saiyan chicks around.  Kinda did some Google-fu and they're from another universe of something?

Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't feel binge-able. Up until the last two it's been very episodic, but the previous two were basically a 2-part story with ties to the lore of the world with the introduction of....well, no spoilage, since you're planning to binge.

And, shit, didn't even know there were Saiyan chicks around.  Kinda did some Google-fu and they're from another universe of something?
They're from Universe 6, where the fighters seen in the Champa storyline are from (Champa the fat Beerus clone, Hit the time-skipping...well, hitman, Cabba the good little elf Saiyan, Frost the discount version of Freeza, etc). Caulifla is the aggressive she-coon Saiyan while her wallflower sister Kale turns out to be that universe's Legendary Super Saiyan. Cabba recruited them and showed them how to become Super Saiyan 2 basically instantly (what took Gohan through to the end of the Cell Saga to accomplish).

I'm actually glad they finally introduced Saiyan women, but going from no special forms to SS2 and LSS in less than 2 days is jst hard to swallow. Maybe the Saiyans in Universe 6 are more rapidly-evolving? And I'm willing to bet that they're permanent additions to the cast, as Goku has taken a special liking to fighting them and already promised to resurrect them all when he gets the Super Dragon Balls.

Aortic dissection was cited as the cause of death...it's a pretty sudden thing. Tsuru was rather prolific. It's a real shame.

I don't see them writing Bulma out of the storyline; they'll have another actress fill the role as best as possible, and there's no telling how much has already been recorded as of now. It certainly puts the staff in a bad spot as anything they do can be seen as the wrong thing. Hopefully fans will be understanding and accepting of whatever route they take.

Yeah but Im sure most, if not everybody would be ok with them NOT getting rid of Bulma.

I didnt know she also voiced Dokinchan (from Anpanman) and Ukyo from Ranma 1/2.

Eh, he can still write and draw in the clink. People will keep buying it. Personally, I haven't watched anything Kenshin since it was shown on Toonami years ago, and I decided I could live without it.

I'm rewatching the Evangelion TV series for the first time in many years. It's funny: the last time I watched it was well before the time in which it was set (2015). And now it's after, and it makes me feel old. But the fun part is that I've forgotten so much of the nuance of the show that I'm enjoying it all over again. It's still good and holds up quite well for a 24 year-old show for my part. In fact,  I'm enjoying it like I did when it was new except without the confusion...so it may actually be better than the first time!

Same. I feel kinda weird about that because I really, really loved it when first started watching it.  But after the Kyoto Arc... I dunno, it was so long and involved that once it was over, the story felt over?  I guess.

The anime? Its because of the filler episodes. They fucked it up.

I like how you felt the need to specify it wasn't autoerotic.

Man, I wish I was excited about something this season. Juuni Taisen was a solid 5/10, Fate/Apocrypha continues to deliver awesome moments sandwiched in between Texas toast-sized slices of bland Gary Stu homunculous, and Netjuu no Susume ended far too early. I still never started Ancient Magus' Bride but I'm not really compelled right now to either. Not really because I don't care about it but I feel like it's something I need to enjoy in a quieter environment than where I am now. I guess. I'll probably binge on that one and Flying Witch once I move.

I thought about picking up Ballroom no Youkuso but there's something about the artwork that just really looks ugly. The rubber spines. The constantly aggravated and twisted facial expressions. Meh. And then I read a review that talked about how grossly sexist and inaccurate to ballroom dancing it is and it's just, like, why bother.

The only shows I'm remotely interested in on this page are the three in the top row: https://myanimelist.net/anime/season/2018/winter

I've been downloading shows and not watching them. At some point I'll probably glance at the files and say, "What the hell, I'll never get around to any of this," and delete them all. I've done it all before, and I'll continue doing it.

What show is your elf lady avatar from?

Fate/Apocrypha: the show where all of the cool characters barely get any screen time so we can spend it with the milquetoast Gary Stu, his lame love-interest, and his overly-feminine genki boy instead.

I'm surprised the anime industry hasn't phased out male characters altogether by now.

It seemed to be trending that way for a while there. I guess there was a testosterone revival.

Shows I will try and fail to watch this coming season:

Junji Ito "Collection"
Kokkoku
Basilisk: The Ouka Ninja Scrolls
