That Blame anime is a travesty. If you ever get an opportunity to chell out the manga, it's way, way, way better. Like, way.

And I know manga snobs say that shit about anime all the time, but just trust me on this.

I hope so, cause that wasn't anything special.

I watched Ghost in the Shell: Arise and that was pretty damn good.

I had tried watching that a while ago but Netflix was being a butt and I only got through one and part of another before I had to stop. I never resumed it.

You hadn't seen FMAB before now?
Nope! TBH what got me to watch it was the opening Ready Steady Go ( by besto bando, Larc en Ciel) Just finished watching the four extra eps for FMAB , and now Im going to watch the original FMA (I think Ready Steady is the second opening, not sure tho)

Yes, you're right. Had you not seen either FMA? Because if not, not to spoil you, but FMA goes completely off the rails since it was made way before the manga was finished. While FMAB closely follows the manga so the story feels more coherent. Merla insists FMA has the superior Kimblee tho'.

I disliked the original anime production, particularly after watching the Shamballa movie. The Brotherhood production was far more satisfying...kind of exactly like Hellsing vs. Hellsing Ultimate.

I have been watching Gundam Wing on and off the past couple of months.  I missed most of it when it originally aired on Toonami.  Not a huge anime fan, but the nostalgia has me watching it.

Dat Riza looks pretty swell.  The dude playing Roy also has singing chops.  He sings the OP ("History Maker") to Yuri!!! on Ice.

Barely even related, but I keep getting notifications from Yahoo Groups about a Gundam Wing group I joined... but I must've joined that group around the early 2000's.  Cray cray.

I binged the second half of the new Berserk episodes. It was actually pretty good, but I think it's mostly because I prefer this part of the story. They used traditional animation a lot more this time, which was much appreciated as the 3D stuff is still rough as hell.

Now I'm watching the two recent Danganronpa shows in anticipation of the third game coming out at the end of the month. It's all supposed to tie together somehow but right now I'm a little confused about that.

I sorta see the resemblance but Hughes has a rounder face with a square jaw and a less bulbous nose so that guy's long rectangular face and giant schnoz throw me off.

Most of the summer shows are winding down and making way for fall, so here's my current take on the state of my pull list (English titles because writing long-assed anime titles in phonetic print is irritating):
Classroom of the Elite - This was a late add, since I was jonesing for more stuff. It's a high school that provides everything for its students but they get assigned to classes A-D (A being top and D being shit) with perks based on the levels. There's one really peculiar guy in D who shouldn't be in D, but he holds himself back for some reason while helping get the class sorted. It's a general class warfare trope, but it's oddly entertaining. Not really good, but I hope they resolve things relatively quickly because I don't see this getting a second season.
New Game S2 - Just as cute as the first season, but not really good.
Restaurant to Another World - This has been the one I look forward to each week. There's not much in the way of over-arching storyline, though I wish it were because of the setup of the fantasy world we're mainly concerned with. But it's just a straightforward episodic program that pushes no agendas, hackneyed or convoluted plotlines, or merchandise. And it looks nice. I hope they build on it and do a second season, as the few things dangled about the background are kind of interesting.
Dragon Ball Super - more of the same, but they're in the middle of the big fight, and while there have been some meh episodes so far, there have been several good ones. Particularly the one featuring Master Roshi, oddly enough.
Re-Creators - I took a hiatus on this show so I could binge the snot out of it once they actually got the ball rolling on the main point of the second half of the season, which is the multi-episode battle royal with Altair. So the jury's still out on this one, but the first half was really good and I'm betting this one will deliver.
Rage of Bahamut S2 - Still holding onto this one, as I really don't want to rewatch the episodes of S1 I've already seen to catch up. But I'm going on vacation next week, so I may start then.
Gamers - This show was fun at first, but it's grating now. The MC is such an obtuse asshat that I'm getting to the point of hoping he gets hit by a truck.
My First Girlfriend is a Gal - This one is the opposite of Gamers. While it was petty and trashy at first, it actually developed the two mains' relationship in a meaningful way. Sure, the guy was a douche, but it's because of self esteem issues, and so it's now nice and trashy instead of petty and trashy.
Kakegurui - here's another one I put on hiatus because of its tendency towards having multi-episode stories that I'd prefer to binge. But it's getting more hard-nosed as it goes, and as a general rule these days I don't like heavy anime.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

The only thing I'm planning on right now is Food Wars season 3. More orgasmic food tasting! I usually don't choose until after the first week or two of a new season anyway, once the scuttlebutt has hit the innerwebs.

Man, Fate Apocrypha legit makes me sad that it's not centered around a more interesting character than the labrat Nilla Wafer Gary Stu. This is a Fate story that managed to have sixteen heroic spirits, fifteen masters, the first animated Rulers, and somehow still managed to make it all about some shitty homunculus that pops up on the sidelines. Can he use magic? Of course he can, that's what he's made for. Does he have human feelings? Now he has human feelings. Is he a servant? Now he can be servant. Is he a master? Now he's a master. He liberates his people. The fan favorite genki trap character LOVES him. He gets saved with multiple ass pulls. I didn't know I could dislike a Fate protag more than Shirou Emiya, but now there's this guy. Shouldn't this be Jeanne's story? Then again, she's gonna fall for Gary, so yeah. At this point, I like a bunch of the other characters enough to see this through. Shirou Kotomine, Semiramis, Achilles, Shakespeare, Karna, Chiron, Mordred and her master, the two siblings on the Black team. Even the siblings' shitty uncle is more likable than the MC. I guess I should just be thankful I can watch a show that doesn't take place in a high school or whatever.

Again, that's only show I'm watching this season. Last season, my savior was a Chinese cartoon of all things. Not gettin' much mileage from you this year, Japan.

Oh, well, not like I have a whole lotta time to sit and watch a series these days. Maybe it's for the best to only have one show a season.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou aka The King's Avatar. The series had a tight budget and sorta meanders trying to cram in too many characters, but it entertained me. It's all posted up on YouTube.

Second season in 2019 and Ova next year:

I love the web novel it's based on but it's a long-ass read and not being translated into English fast enough imo.

I thought it was pretty straight foward but also boring as hell. I liked the ending of FMAB because its like in the manga.

Also cant be arsed to go to the FMA expo. Didnt have time when I was near there and now im in a different area of Tokyo. Also I paid 6 fucking dollars for a "mystery keychain" and of all the awesome choices I got effing Envy, literally the ONLY ONE I didnt want. Still salty about that and its been almost a week already.

Boring things tend to confuse me so there's probably that. I will space out while shit's being explained. And, oh god, Envy. I feel your pain. I'd rather have one of Gluttony instead of Envy. Not that I liked him so much better but Envy was soooo annoying.

DBZ was insane this weekend. If you missed, it was a 2-parter that finally tied up Goku with the big bad from Universe 11 (who's apparently a good guy in his universe but anyway). And while the main thrust of the show was a groaner (insert spoilers:)

Quote from: Spoiler Alert (highlight text to read)
Goku gets beaten while in Super Saiyan Blue form...while using Kaioh-ken x20...while throwing a genki dama. He then absorbs the genki dama and becomes seemingly-unconscious Ultra Instinct Goku with silver eyes...and gets beaten again.

...they have obviously been saving their nickels for these two episodes...the animation was probably the series' (franchise's?) best.
