Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is supposed to be showing on Adult Swim or some shit. Since I don't have cable anyway and watch it weekly online, I wasn't even aware of it. Anyone watching? I would've caught it one week but didn't realize they had already started airing. DVD of first few eps coming in May or something.

I watched an episode. It was so similar to FMA that I really haven't gone out of my way to see more of it.

The beginning is like that. I think after about the thirteenth episode or so, it begins to deviate from the first one. That's actually where I jumped in because I was kinda bored by the rehashed stuff. It does get better.

On one hand, I like to see how well an anime stays with the spirit of a good manga - on the other, the anime can either go off-track and totally screw the pooch for getting back to a manga-based storyline (looking atchoo, Claymore!) or get into the Department of Redundancy Department feel for hardcore fans by going line-for-line.

That it does and having a sense of direction does wonders for the show. I saw a preview clip of the dub and I kinda have a feeling that as much as I like Vic, they should've recasted Ed.

Rin-ne? I read some of it when it was first being released in English online. Very Ranma meets Inu-Yasha, which meant not much of anything new.

She could've at least switched the genders and made it a ghost hunting girl and a school-boy... although I guess that would've turned out to be like female Ranma meets Ryoga or something like that and probably would've eventually mirrored Lum somehow. She draws some cute stuff, but yeah, I wish at the very least she would do more to make her main characters less interchangable with one another. Rinne could be Inu Yasha, he could be Ranma, he could even be Godai. Is that Kagome or Akane? Nope, it's just another Rumiko Takahashi-style fed-up school girl.

Merla Netflixed Code Geass or however it's spelled and it looked stupid. The character designs are ugly, the Power Ranger playing the main dude is woefully miscast, the dialogue is the same Japanese cheese that makes up 85% of the other animes. "That's impossible!" "Such powet!" "I will not forgive you!" and the like. I think Imma pass on this.

Merla and I saw some of the Wanderers--which imo sucked giant dick--and the ova it's based on: El Hazard: The Magnificent World, which is miles and miles freaking above it.

I saw the ending for the Wanderers. Love the second opening theme but that doesn't change that 90% of the show is pure useless garbage. You can tell that it was a real struggle to stretch the story. Also, I can't stand bland romantic leads with little to no personality. BOOOOORING. The spin off OVAs from the original one suck even worse.

Merla has been Netflixing Darker Than Black. Man, stuff by BONES always comes off as so pretentious to me, with their long-ass titles and gratutious monologues. And they gotta fucking explain every other thing that happened. "You shocked your heart!" "He held back!" "You grabbed the do-hickey which did the whatnot and used the powet of my own attack against me omg". That mask the main guy wears is douche-bag tastic. I'm always annoyed at stuff that features weird pale girls (Green Ambler and Yin, I'm looking at you). The main guy, the cat, old guy, and the cops are kinda cool. And that November guy too I guess. I wish it would mainly stick to them. That detective guy and the pink-haired girl also have a good dynamic.

Saw the end of the series and have to say (1) I don't even see how a sequel would be needed or warranted and can't imagine it'll be any good and (2) the last episode, wtf was that?

Also saw some of Dragon Ball Z Kai on nicktoons. Not terrible but meh. Anyway, being condensed could only be an improvement.

Merla's been Netflixing a lot of Leiji Mastumoto stuff. Pretty good but it drags at times. And man, some of the extras are UG-LY.

We also saw the first few eps of B'T X, which doesn't appear to be available past vol 2. Even though it has the Japanese language track on the disc, the thing is not even subtitled, it's dubtitled. BOO.

I was also watching Toradora! online. That's a cute show.

I saw a couple episodes of "Witchblade".

I also saw an anime last Monday on Sci-Fi that I have no idea what it was called. It was listed as "X" but the guide said it was a 1963 Rogar Corman flick. So no idea what it was. It was all about like dream watchers and these dragons that would destroy the earth and one dude was the Dragon of Heaven and the Other The Dragon of the Earth and everybody dies. It wasn't so great actually.

Yeah that's the thing. And it was all doom and gloom. What was worse about it is it jerked around a lot. Just when you started understand what was going on it would would shoot you off someplace else and you'd spend the next 5 to 10 mins figuring out what is going on again. It really wasn't that good at all.

As for Witchblade. It's pretty, but as a story it's kinda meh. It's not something I find myself getting wrapped up in.

Merla and I watched Knight Hunters Eternity. While not a terrible show, it really left us in a downer mood. The story's decent enough so she's gonna stick with it.
