They aren't rats. It's likely Renard the fox (right) and Isegrim the wolf. Until I read the platemail thing, I thought you were talking about Ratatouille. And here I thought Pixar couldn't come up with something I want to see less than Cars. The rat chef could at least be a stoner.

I saw Pirates 3 Saturday, and those were the two most forgettable previews of the whole shebang. What the heck is it about damn penguins lately? This is, what, the third penguin movie in the past year? And I think Pixar's just tapped out for ideas. Cars wasn't that bad, but they need to make with the Incredibles 2 already.

This whole thing with penguins is just bad timing on everyone's part. I know it seems to lack believability, but I remember hearing something that went along the lines of whatever idea you or I may come up with, there are people all over the place with the same idea. Happy Feet began production before March of the Penguins. Then there's the Madagascar penguins. And these surfing penguins. They've all had to have been in the pipeline for years. I have yet to meet an animated penguin I've liked. It's all crap in my opinion. Shia LaBeouf and a bunch of CG animators get another line to add to their resumes.

Some might have been greenlighted or even created to compete with other studios "Penquin" films. Although I don't think there can be any doubt that Happy Feet was greenlighted before March of the Penquins. March just made it to theaters first because it wasn't animated.

Yeah, that's very true. But I also think penguins were due. I don't think Madagascar added penguins just because of Happy Feet. Tail-coated riding probably greenlit "Surf's Up" though.

Proably right about Madagascar. The Penguins weren't the main focus like the the rest of these films, so that seems logical. Although their spin off toon mentioned in the article you linked might be trying to ride that wave.
