The girlfriend and I went and saw Lilo and stitch. Which I actually enjoyed despite the change to the ending. Then the kid and I went and saw how to train your Dragon, which was really really good.

Superman! It was pretty damn good. Probably the closest thing I'll ever get to what I want out of a modern Superman movie. Doesn't seem to be making ALL of the money though, so no doubt they've already declared it a flop.

There was a lot to like about Superman, but the parts I didn't like I REALLY didn't like. It was largely enjoyable, but I likely won't ever see it again.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I wasn't impressed with Fantastic 4, but I've always found them to be a lame superhero team, so the movie was never going to be for me anyway.

If it manages to outperform Superman then I'll concede that I'm completely out of touch, because this an inferior film by every conceivable metric.

A couple people I know asked me if I had watched KPop Demon Hunters, and I was like, "No... should I?" I had seen the thumbnail on Netflix and just assumed it was some cash-in garbage done on the cheap. But I decided to give it a shot.

Holy crap. This movie has way more going for it than I ever would have expected from a made-for-streaming release. It's totally legit! I was smiling and laughing and even getting weepy in parts. What the heck, Netflix.

Yeah, I've heard good things about it. But it came out when I was already at my friend's house with her el cheapo ad-filled Netflix. I could just watch it on my laptop but I wanna see it on a TV so I'm waiting until I'm back home to watch it. She does have a big TV tho'... maybe I should just download it and cast it from my computer.

Saw the new Demon Slayer movie. Looks nice and all, but man... if you're at all familiar with the series you already know that the story peaks somewhere in the middle and it's just kind of a turd after that. I honestly don't know if it's that I blew through the manga as quickly as possible and can't remember everything that happened, or if it's that they actually tried to flesh more of it out in the adaptation, but some of what's here seemed really unfamiliar to me.

Anyway, as a film, structurally it's a fucking mess. The mid-fight flashbacks range from annoying to laughable, with the back third of the movie basically having the heroes victorious, but oops nope the villain isn't defeated and now here's their sob story in exhaustive detail! Like, holy shit. It must be seen to be believed, and even then you'll struggle to believe what you're seeing.

Maybe I'm just a hater.

Demon Slayer literally lost me at the first episode. I will never understand its massive popularity.

They kind of do and that sounds like something I'd say but I can't find any posts of me saying that. I basically called the designs in that Jem comic from 2006 toddlers and I said that chick from that Guild Receptionist anime had a bloated toddler head. I also said the designs in Demon Slayer don't sell it to me. I think there's something about the eyes. Like the characters look hopped up on something or some shit.

I looked through some Demon Slayer images and I think my issue with the eyes is that the irises fucking float in the middle for a large number of characters. That's why they look high/crazy/spastic. It's visually unpleasant to me.

Just got back from Chainsaw Man. What a wild ride. As soon as you tell me you're putting your anime on the big screen, I immediately want to hold it to a higher standard, and this one checks all the boxes. Absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. Thumbs securely in the upright position.

Lupin Immortal Bloodline. Didn't do my homework, had no idea it was the conclusion to the existing modern film series. Also didn't know there had been another film in said series just last year, so I have to go back and watch that now.

Saw Scarlet tonight. I'd say I liked it overall, but I'm not at all surprised by the mixed reception it's been getting from critics. Some scenes that were clearly meant to be affecting come off as schmaltzy or just fall flat. And similar to Hosoda's previous film Belle, the CG animation is still very inconsistent, oscillating between truly breathtaking sequences and mediocre video game graphics. Also, there's a quasi-isekai element to the story that I really didn't care for.

If nothing else, watching it has made me want to revisit Hosoda's other stuff. It reminded me that Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island is probably my favorite of all the One Piece movies by a long shot.

Finally watched Space Odyssey and it was the most boring movie I've seen in my life. jessusssss. I had to force myself to end it but it made no sense. I hate when movies try to be so edgy that they just go overboard with it. I can't believe this is considered a classic, to be honest.
I'm looking forward to watching the 4th installment of the 28 days/years franchise.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen the entirety of 2001: A Space Odyssey myself. I know I was super bored by it so I probably didn't stick around.

I'm hearing that the new Wuthering Heights is a trash-pile. One of my co-workers was going to see it and he mentioned not knowing anything about the book. And I said "you don't need to, they didn't even correctly adapt it". I think by saying that, people thought I was defending the book or something. Like, no, I was just saying he didn't need to know anything about the book to begin with. I mean, I know it's a classic or whatever but I couldn't finish reading that thing.

Coyote vs. Acme is fuckin' AWFUL. The fact that most reviews for it are positive is absolutely baffling to me. The movie is BORING. It is NOT funny. It is UGLY as sin.

Have you seen that recent Chip 'n' Dale movie? Or maybe that Tom & Jerry one? Same deal. The animated characters are polygonal models that look like they were transplanted into a live action film from some shitty video game.

Bugs Bunny is briefly in this movie, and he is the lone character who manages to avoid this fate. He's traditionally animated from start to finish. It's almost like they knew how bad it looked and chose to spare their flagship Looney Tune.

Never watch this HORRENDOUS shit.

WOW. Seriously? I've heard nothing but praise for that movie.

Now the Carrie miniseries on the other hand... That shit's getting dragged.

Yes! The Coyote praise thing makes no sense to me! It's 'We have Roger Rabbit at home' x1000000! I challenge anyone to sit through it and laugh ONCE. People got way too caught up in the whole "Wah! Big bag WB shelved it and it was never going to see the light of day, but wait! Now it's finally out and we all get to enjoy it YAAAAAAY."

Except the movie fucking sucks! The problem isn't that it was made and shelved, the problem is that it was even made at all! How it ever managed to walk the path from concept to finished product will forever be beyond me.

I've been watching Carrie, and I think it's fine. My problem is that it's mildly sickening to watch. You know, like misery pr0n or whatever. I keep putting off watching the next episode.

I think Carrie is a book purist thing? Have you read Carrie? I haven't, by the way. But it just seems the people who hate it did read the book.

Yeah, I saw this in my feed but haven't actually watched it:

I guess the book kids have never once been served by a Carrie adaptation then, because Sissy Spacek circa 1976 is far from what anyone would classify as unattractive.

Sorry, to answer your question, I myself have not read Carrie. I've read a lot of Stephen King, but never Carrie, because the subject matter is not something I'd want to marinate in.

But I suppose that's exactly what I'm doing now with the Mike Flanagan show.
